Reviewed 27 July 2014

We stayed here for 2 nights from Jul 15 to 17. We were a party of 2 adults and 2 children.

We chose this place based on location and free wifi.

The location was EXCELLENT! We were in Tyn Square and only a few mins from Old Town Square, centre of activity for most tourists. There were lots of restaurants nearby and most attractions were within walking distance.

The wifi was okay. There were 6 different networks we could connect to. We could usually connect to one of them but sometimes you had to walk around the apt for several mins before you could find a signal. Once you were able to connect the wifi worked reasonably well. There was a little sitting room in the hallway just outside the apt where the connection was excellent.

The building is run through the Indian restaurant next door, the Indian Jewel. Everyone at the restaurant was very welcoming and accommodating. You also got 10% off at the restaurant. We ate there one night and really enjoyed our meal. Upon leaving, staff stored our luggage for us and also called a taxi for us.

We were in apt 41 which was up a flight of stairs. There was a little sitting room at the top of the stairs just outside the apt. The apt was much larger than we were expecting with a large entryway, separate kitchen, toilet room w a sink, and bathroom w a sink. There was a large living area and a large bedroom. The furniture was simple but there was a lovely vaulted ceiling in the living area and the windows had nice draperies. There was a crystal chandelier in both the living area and the bedroom.

We only used the kitchen for cold breakfasts and there was a mini-fridge and toaster and plates and cutlery that were adequate for our purposes. I did notice that there was a 2 burner stove and a kettle and several cooking pots and pans. The kitchen was large with a table and 4 chairs.

There was a wall hair dryer that worked okay. The bathroom had a bathtub with a shower head but no shower curtain. The shower head was a handheld shower but only mounted high enough so that you could kneel in order for it to be above you. I was aware of this when we booked the apt (based on other reviews). My husband and I kneeled to wash our hair and then stood up to lather up and used the handheld to rinse off. We tried not to get water on the floor and were moderately successful. Our 8 year old son managed to get water all over the floor.

The living room was large w 2 single beds, a sofa and armchair, a desk, and a TV. There was lots of space to walk around. There was no air conditioning but there was a fan that worked quite well.

The bedroom was also very large with a large bed, 2 night stands, 2 desks, a large cabinet w a safe deposit box, and another cabinet which contained a pullout bed. There was another fan in the bedroom which worked well at keeping us cool.

Many toiletries (shampoo, body gel, lotion) were provided. The room was not serviced and towels were not exchanged during our stay.

Overall we loved the apt and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. The location and large clean apt was worth the mild inconvenience of the slightly awkward shower.

My wife and I visited Prague in the beginning of June and spent nine lovely days in the U Cerneho Medveda apartment. The apartment was large, about 85 square meters, and in addition to that, we had a large terrace. It was nice to have our morning coffee out there and when the days became warmer, we could open the terrace door and let fresh air come in.

The apartment was larger than our home. There was a kitchen, huge bedroom, spacious living room, small toilet and separate bathroom with shower and bath sink. In the apartment there was also plenty of storage space. Everything was spotless and clean. The housekeeper visited every second day and we got fresh towels, fresh bed lining, garbage emptied and so on.

Wireless WiFi worked flawlessly all the time which was nice.

We have visited Prague ten times and this was absolutely the best location we have ever been to. There is about 100 meters to the Staroměstské náměstí, The Old Town Square, and for example the Ungelt Jazz Club is about 30 meters away, just behind the corner.

Actually, the apartment is situated above the lovely Indian Jewel restaurant. The restaurant serves also as the reception for the apartment. The staff is very friendly and nice and helped us in any case. The best thing was that we had only a few steps downstairs to go for the dinner to the restaurant which in our opinion is one of the best in Prague.

Although we stayed in the heart of the old town, it was peaceful and quiet. We had a good sleep at U Cerneho Medveda.

We will visit Prague every year, if possible, and this will without a doubt be our home during our next visits.

Everything about this apartment was unbelievably good. The location couldn't have been better. It's on a medieval courtyard, full of history like the rest of old-town Prague. The apartment itself was reasonably priced -- in fact, cheaper than reasonable. The spacious rooms were a nice plus, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen perfect. The staff was gracious, accommodating and helpful. We told them the day we were leaving that our train wasn't going until 4:30 p.m., and they said we could stay as long as we liked. I have no reason to try out any other place to stay in Prague. I'll definitely return if I'm lucky enough to be able to visit Prague again.

We stayed for 3 nights here and really enjoyed the large clean, warm and well equipped apartment. Everything needed for self catering was supplied and towels and bedding changed during our short stay. We received a lovely friendly welcome to the apartments and the staff were always helpful to us. The location is fantastic, easy walking distance to the major attractions in Prague and close to shops and restaurants. We received a 10 % discount at the Indian Jewel Restaurant below the apartments and enjoyed a delicious meal there. We highly recommend these apartments.

An appartement so big you can play hide and seek! Great service, low prices. The only thing we didnt like was the noisy pub across the street but the black bear cant help that. Be sure to eat downstairs at the Indian jewel while you are here. Great food!! We will be coming back someday.

We rented an apartment at this hotel for 6 nights. It was a bit tricky to find, but well worth it! The furniture is in need of covers on the arms, but the apartment was very roomy and homey. There was a fully-equipped kitchen, a large sleeping chamber, a living room, a WC and a bathing room, as well as a balcony. Wifi was free of cost and had pretty good reception. The TV also ran over the internet and was free of cost. We were enchanted!

The Hosts were very attentive to our needs! Due to my back problems, I needed to request extra duvets to sleep on. They were delivered immediately. The Hosts also have an Indian Restaurant which I will also review.

The location of this hotel could not be better! It was within easy walking distance of Staroměstské náměstí (green), Náměstí Republiky (yellow), and Mustek (green and yellow) Metro stops. It is a stone's throw to the Staroměstské náměstí (the square with the Astronomical clock).
