Owner description: Mozart played the organ in this church, a magnificent example of the "Prague Baroque" period of the 18th century.

Located just up from the Lesser Tower of Charles Bridge is this huge cathedral. There was row upon row of pews and ornate carvings and gold work everywhere. The ceiling was completely covered in painted frescoes of religious scenes. There was an ornate altar at the front and above it the cupola. Yes it was pretty, but we are not artistic enough to say it was one of the best in Europe.
Headed upstairs for the gallery. This gave us some more views overlooking the church and towards the organ pipes.
Next door and accessed via a separate entrance is the Bell Tower which you can climb for views of the city and of the exterior of the church's cupola.

When I first walked in.. I was in awe. I've never seen a church so pink and gold and grand at the same time. The whole church was supported by white/pink-ish marble and the ornament was all gold. The decoration was seriously breath-taking. And the fresco on the ceiling gives the illusion that the church is even much taller. Genius. Definitely must visit in Prague.

(Student entrance fee is 50 czk)

Take the time to read the info panels displayed. In addition to being a beautiful church, it has an interesting history as a Hussite church. We were lucky enough to be there during a free concert.

Even if there is a ticket to pay for getting inside, it's worth all the money as you will find one of the most beautifully decorated churches you have ever visited!

We are not really church lovers but found the St Nicholas Church to be amazing! You really have to give this place a visit as it is simply beautiful! You cannot help but be amazed by the inside of this place, so go and visit when you are in Prague.
