“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 8 February 2009

I have chosen Hotel Le Palais Prague after reading the reviews here and I was not disapointed!
The hotel is wonderful with cozy ambience, we had dinner one day in restaurant with the fireplace and the meal was excellent.
The Spa is new and the Spa treatments take you to heaven!
But what made the biggest impression was the staff - everyone we met was so nice and helpful, they were always smiling and you could feel that they really care of you.
I look forward to come back one day!

We went for four night break and were not disappointed with this upmarket hotel. Massive bedroom and bed, spotless beautiful bathroom with underfloor heating !
Electric blackout blind ensured we could have a good lie in as first night away from baby !
Bed and breakfast basis and it was a superb spread, best of all breakfast served until midday !
Although not in the centre of Prague the walk into town is only ten minutes, if you dont get the tram.
The mini bar is free and topped up daily.
Nothing negative to say about this hotel. One minor point is that if you use the hotel shuttle service it costs alot more than if you shop around before hand.
A classy hotel, friendly and efficient staff which is well worth the extra cost.

  • Liked — All of it !
  • Disliked — Distance to centre, however that is a very minor thing and only put this as nothing else !

My wife and I stayed at La Palais for five days over New Year. We booked a special package that included a room upgrade and full use of the Hotel Mercedes. We were welcomed at the airport by the driver who took us straight to the Hotel. First impressions were promising, and we too were offered a complimentary drink in the Library which was very nice. The reception area, Library and Bar are all very nicely appointed. After the drink, we were shown to our room, which again, was very inviting and clean, but we were dissapointed that it was qite small (especially as we had paid for the upgrade). We rang reception to check, and after some deliberation, they apologised and took us to an executive room. The room rates at La Palais include free use of the mini bar, a nice touch, but try not to get too excited. There is a couple of cans of beer, wine, fruit juice and water, and a couple of chocolates. On the whole, we liked the room and bathroom. The package also included a meal at their restaurant. We had a lovely meal, and the breakfasts were also lovely with plenty of choice and as much as you can eat. The staff were also very efficient and polite.
On the night before New Years Eve, we were alseep in the room at about 1am, when an evacuation warning started playing. We got dressed and went to reception, but nobody seemed to know what was happening. Eventually, the problem was traced to some very hot water coming out of a pipe in one of the ground floor corridors. We all went back to bed, and had just gone back to sleep when the alarm went off again. We again got dressed and went down stairs, but the staff were still clueless. Again, it was teh same problem. This event, and teh problem with the room upgrade prevent us from giving a rating of 5

Me and my fiancée (she wasn’t before this trip) traveled to Prague to celebrate New Year, and to get engaged. We arrived at the hotel on Monday the 29 of December 2008 and were welcomed by the very friendly staff. They led us to the library where we got a glass of Bohemian sect while they prepared our room. After finishing the glass of bubbles the concierge collected us for a quick tour of the hotel, she also showed us our room and explained how things worked etc. The hotel is located outside the city center in Vinohrady which is south west of the center. As Prague is such a small city the outside of the city center mean that you can actually see it from the nearest Tram stop (150 meters from the hotel) outside the hotel.

We stayed on the room for a quick afternoon rest and hit the streets of Prague (lovely city!!), when we got back to the hotel around 9 p.m. they had made the room ready for the night (!) they had softened the lights, puffed the pillows, put some good night chocolate, put the slippers and a small towel on the floor and finally they had lowered the night curtains…

The above story very much tells you what to expect here, lovely staff, nice rooms, and a really cool easy going ambience!

One night we ate at the restaurant, a small tasting menu called “Daily Chef ‘s tasting menu”, the chef has ambitions for a Michelin star (he is a friend of Andrea Accordi, the chef at Allegro with the only Michelin star in Prague). The food was well prepared, well balanced tastes, lifting the natural flavors of the ingredients. We choose a Pinot Noir to accompany the menu (as they didn’t have a flight of beverages) which worked really well. To the dessert we had a glass of eiswein (Gewürztraminer) it was truly lovely.

So the conclusion of Hotel Le Palais is that this is really, really nice, a perfect romantic hotel.

  • Liked — The friendly ambience
  • Disliked — Some of the staff should learn English better so that you can explain more advanced things to them.

My husband stayed at this hotel for four nights and genuinely enjoyed our stay. We received a winter rate, which we considered to be very reasonable, especially considering the extras it included. The rate included a thirty minute back massage for each of us, breakfast each morning, one dinner at the hotel, and access to the gym and spa. The hotel was clean, the staff were all courteous and attentive, and our room was comfortable. The architecture of our room was odd (I think this is because it was a corner room), but it was still very nice. The heated bathroom floors were also very nice in the winter! The room also comes with a free mini bar, which is restocked each day, so that's a very nice touch! I can't say enough about how great the hotel's staff was.

The hotel's breakfast was fine, but I would not recommend purchasing it if it doesn't come with the room rate. There are plenty of great breakfast places in Prague, so there's no reason to pay too much for a mediocre breakfast in the hotel. There is a great little spot just a few blocks from the hotel called ZanziBar that we would recommend whole heartedly for a great, basic breakfast.

In contrast to breakfast, dinner was very good and the service was excellent. There's not much atmosphere, but they really did prepare a lovely meal and the servers were attentive and knowledgeable. If you are offered a package including the 3 course dinner, take advantage of the meal.

Like many hotels, the extras at the hotel were very expensive. The room service delivery charge of almost $20 seemed excessive to us. Drinks in the hotel's lobby were also very expensive.

The gym was well equipped. We really enjoyed our massages and found the therapists to be professional and highly skilled. I am not usually very big on spas, but really enjoyed this one.

This was our second stay of the year in this hotel, and this was even better than the first time. It's true it is not really in the centre, but the pro of this is it's a really quiet place. Without being exceptional, the breakfast is very good, the dinner was excellent.

The hotel has an amazing atmosphere with first class service in every sense. All these little things travellers appreciated are day to day business in this 5 star hotel. the title leading hotel of the world is absolutely justified. Le Palais is an insider tipp, located within the most beatiful and calm area of the city Prague with excellent staff!!!
