Where do I start? No doubt you are just beginning on the journey of review after review of hotel after hotel, just as I did prior to booking my latest trip. Please, don't waste your time reviewing the others, instead just book for the Hotel Le Palais. From the moment the concierge greeted myself and my girlfriend, to the moment he waved us goodbye, our stay at the hotel was sheer perfection.

Unlike my previous visits to Prague I decided this time to stay on the outskirts of the city centre, something which I've seen labelled as a criticism of Le Palais. However with the increasing popularity of Prague and the Stag-Do culture, in my opinion the location of Le Palais is ideal. Located in a quieter part of town, it's no more than 15 minute walk from Wenceslas Square, and 25 minute walk from Old Town Square, and with weekend breaks to Prague all about walking and sightseeing, Le Palais' location only adds to this enjoyment.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the Hotel Concierge and the Hotel Receptionist, who's friendliness, professionalism and willingness to help at all times was typical of all members of staff. Our cases were quickly swept off to our room, while even with our midnight arrival we were given a tour of all hotel services and amenities. From the luxurious reception area, through the 24 hour bar and seating area, to the stunning library complete with log fire, and then to the palatial breakfast room and restaurant. All were decorated, furnished and maintained to the highest standard, and although the hotel website is fairly representative of the hotels features, they just don't do it justice!

After our tour of the hotel we were then showed to our room, and again provided a quick brief of it's facilities. This included a complimentary mini-bar, programmeable safe, underfloor heating, tv, dvd, ample wardrobe space, luxurious bathroom, all complimented once again by the stunning decor and furnishings that are now typical of all areas of the hotel.

After a most comfortable sleep, and awaking in such beautiful surroundings, we then went to breakfast (served until 1030 M-F, and 1200 Wkends), in yet again another stunning room of the hotel. We were greeted, as now fully accustomed, with such warmth, charm and genuine enthusiasm by the staff. The breakfast choice included the usual continental choice of fresh meats, cheese, yoghurts, cereals, fresh pastries and fresh fruits (all self service), and was further complimented by the choice of a more UK traditional breakfast. Choice and quality was perfect, likewise service, and hoping not to sound too repetitive the surroundings, cleanliness and attention to every single detail were like never experienced before!

Not wanting to relive every moment spent at the hotel, I think it would be remiss of me not to mention the fitness, health and spa resort, again another fantastic facility of the hotel. Located in the basement and lower basement levels of the hotel, these facilities were manned at their respective reception areas, where again staff were only too willing to help. Although we didnt use the gym or have any of the spa treatments, we did use the sauna, steam room and the whirlpool each day, again facilities built, decorated and maintained to the highest standard and cleanliness. With associated showers, water jets, and aroma showers the health suite was an ideal way to wind down and relax at the end of a busy day walking the beautiful streets of Prague.

I could continue to sing the praises of Le Palais, but to do too much would take away from the surprise that awaits your booking of the hotel. As per my introduction I encourage you to save yourself the time of reading other reviews and reviewing other hotels, instead just book Le Palais.

We had our every need catered for , sometimes even before we asked. Hotel is about 25mins walk from Wenceslas Square. We enjoy walking so this was a bonus. The hotel has a shuttle service if walking isn't your thing. Prague IS a perfect city to walk around though.

We went here for a long weekend in February and from the moment the hotel limo picked us up from the airport to the time it dropped us off everything was 1st class. A lot of 5 star hotel are very professional without adding that bit of friendliness, at LP you get that from everyone. We used the spa treatments abd spa suite which were brillaint on a cold february day, we had a lovely valentines day dinner in Le Papillon, the service throughout was great and our room was great.
Yes the hotel is a little out of the tourist area nd they will tell you its a 20 min walk, it's not, 12-15 mins and you are in Wencelas Sq. The area is quiet but the hotel has everything you need, is close to the Opera (5 mins in a cab) and if you do venture out there are local bars (try Weber u - walk towards the centre, 2nd or 3rd on your right and about 50 m's - 2 mins from the hotel),
We loved Prague and will be back, as this hotel is a good reason to go back.

Was the best hotel I've ever stayed in. They upgraded our room for free and the level of service was amazing. They did one step beyond in everything they did. The food at the restaurant was limited but amazing.

My wife and spent five nights at Hotel Le Palais over New Year's 2010. It was a wonderful stay: we can't say enough about how lovely the hotel is, how accommodating the staff, and (a surprise to us), how good the dining room is.

A couple of major points in favor of Hotel Le Palais. It's small, which allows the staff to provide personal attention to guests. The staff to guest ratio is pretty high: we always had the attention we needed, whether it was to sort out a cab or to spend time patiently giving us directions, or to attend to our dining needs. Expect excellent, European-style service.

Second, there weren't many Americans in the hotel. The staff spoke Czech to people who spoke Czech and English to us and many of the European tourists. And most of the staff spoke English fairly well: we had no problems communicating with anyone.

Hotel Le Palais is located in Vinohrady, which has its advantages. This is not a tourist district--it's where people live--so the pace of life is different. A lot fewer tourists meant that the streets near the hotel were empty during our visit (many Prague residents were out of town for the holiday weekend). But in a different season, I can imagine a lively street scene, not unlike neighborhoods we know in Chicago.

But the location of the hotel is perfect for us: we could walk to many destinations easily and go back to Hotel Le Palais, where it was quiet and much less crazy than in Stare Mesto and Mala Strana. And the hotel is a short walk from the I. P. Pavlova metro stop--good news on those days when we were tired of walking. There are good dining options close to (and in) the hotel. And these restaurants and taverns have more of a neighborhood feel than the establishments in the bustling, tourist parts of town.

Our room was smaller than we thought it might be (the photos on the hotel website are slightly distorted), but it was comfortable nevertheless. The bed was perfect--mattress firm, linens luxurious. The curtains allowed us to shut out light and noise, though, as I said, Vinohrady is quieter than other areas where we might have stayed.

We didn't schedule any spa services during our visit largely because we wanted a lot of open time to ourselves. But the spa looked very comfortable and inviting. Both of us used the workout room--eminently serviceable--and the steam room and sauna.

We arrived late our first night and as the manager was showing us to our rooms, he casually asked if we wanted to have dinner and assured us that he'd ask the chef to stay. We opted instead for a light meal in the (cozy!) library, but this was our first clue that we were going to have an extraordinary stay here. I'm happy to say that our meal was yummy: light, very well-prepared. And, best of all, the house wine was a superb, minerally Neuhoff pinot blanc.

The restaurant--Restaurant Le Papillon--was a wonderful surprise to us and I am absolutely convinced that if it weren't in a hotel, in Vinohrady, it would be one of Prague's more highly regarded restaurants.

The food was of consistently high quality, very well prepared, and tasty. The dinner menu isn't large, but it's well thought out and portions are reasonably sized. We had dinner in the restaurant on New Year's night thinking (mistakenly, we learned) that not much else would be open. But we weren't sorry about our choice. I had risotto (which the chef prepared without milk or cream for me) and roasted guinea hen; my wife enjoyed lobster risotto. The wine list offered a selection of European wines, heavy on German and Austrian choices (the hotel is part of a small Austrian chain). Good for us--there were 20 Gruner Veltliners on the menu, one of our favorite wines.

Breakfast was included in our room rate and we couldn't have asked for better food. The buffet included fresh fruit; cereals and yogurt; prosciutto and Czech ham; cheeses; and a hot buffet of (excellent) scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, pancakes; and other choices. The pastries--so often an after-thought in American hotels, even good ones--were excellent. We ordered very well made espresso and cappuchino with breakfast.

There’s a terrific European-style bar that serves wine, drinks, coffee, and snacks. We didn’t linger there much because it was the only place in the hotel where people were smoking--I’m not used to smoking any more.

We'd go back to Hotel Le Palais in a heartbeat!
