“Nice hotel, great location”
Reviewed 22 August 2014 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. We had a large apartment for 3 people which was plenty large enough. The bathroom was nice sized. The location is the star here. You are 15 minutes from everything you may want to see, the old town square, the Jewish quarter, the Charles bridge. The only bad thing at the hotel was the wifi. It was non existant in our room, you needed to lean out the room window to get any signal. When i asked about it they told me that they would look into it. 2 days later it didn't change so I asked again and the told me that it was working fine, yet every morning I had to go to the lobby to check my email. In the afternon I had to do it again. I dont think they believed me, but there I was every day sitting in the lobby.

A peaceful relaxing and well run hotel - although it's right bang in the old town it sits in a really quiet spot so feels removed for the tourist madness. Our apartment room was a really good size, clean and comfortable. Staff were always there and willing to help, and the foods not bad either for when you don't feel like venturing out. We stayed for a week and could have easily stayed longer. Would recommend to anyone who asks !!

The hotel is nice and cosy but you pay more that you get... I would say the we payed adequate amount of money but we got around 60% discount from the original price...
Breakfast buffet was nice and with good variety to choose from.
Room was clean and with extra heater it was warm in no time! A small complaint - the room was extremely moist even thought there was a machine which reduced the moisture in the air.
In our room was a bathtub and in a December month it really helped to relax and warm up.

After a smooth early flight with Jet 2 and excellent airport collection (arranged by Hotel for 650ck) we arrived at Hotel Casa Marcello in Prague for a 4 x night break. It’s a lovely old building, which was a Nunnery and even though there is an odd bit of peeling paint here and there, it has been decorated very well keeping the character. As our arrival was early, the helpful Receptionist checked us in and advised our room was not ready but they would happily store our luggage if we wanted to go and explore. She was a really helpful young lady and provided us with lots of info about things to do. When we did return 2 hours later our room was ready. The Hotel has 32 rooms and we were apprehensive seeing as we didn’t book an upgrade but our worries soon went when we entered our room. We were on the 2nd floor and it was huge, spotless and nicely furnished with lovely comfy bed and crisp white sheets, plenty of wardrobe space which included a free safe box and an immaculate large white bathroom. As this Hotel is tucked away down a side street off a small square none of the rooms had picturesque views but this didn’t bother us as the size of the room and quietness made up for it. We stayed on a B&B basis and there was great breakfast choice. You help yourself to juice in the bar then walk through to the small Restaurant to a choice of fruits, cold meats and cheeses. At the other end of the Restaurant there were cereals, jams, fresh bread and a hot option of bacon, eggs and sausages and a hot drinks machine. We ate a variety of items on all mornings and couldn’t complain about anything. If the Restaurant is full, there are tables set in the bar or if the weather is nice, you can sit outside in the patio. We would have tried the Evening Dinner but we noticed the Menu on the board each day didn’t change and as nothing appealed to us, we therefore ate out each night as the Hotel is situated a couple of minutes’ walk from the Old Square with a good choice of traditional restaurants and bars as you stroll along.

Regarding food, I have to say we weren’t keen on it as it is quite plain. Pork knuckles, lots of meat, dumplings and goulash is Prague’s speciality so as it wasn’t to our taste, we found a really nice place with an international menu where you could sit under a canopy along the street close to the Pedestrian Bridge. There is also a cracking French Restaurant called Chez Marcel opposite the Hotel. Staff and food are great, so we ate there twice and called for drinks most evenings

Prague’s Old Square is beautiful. You can sit at the many lovely bars and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a drink and on the hour, the crowd will gather to see the amazing clock chime. If you visit the Castle and Cathedral ensure you arrive for 12 Noon to see the Changing of the Guard. You can buy a ticket at the Info Centre within the castle grounds and choose exactly what you want to visit. We opted for the amazing Cathedral, Clock Tower, The Palace, The Basilis and Golden Lane. Other lovely things to do are a trip to the Ice Bar, a nice stroll along the Pedestrian Bridge which has buskers and artists, a horse drawn carriage town tour and one of the river cruises. We opted for a 2 hour cruise and it was lovely as the tables are properly dressed with cloths because you can buy drinks, lunch or evening meals dependant on what trip you pick.

Any bad things to say about Prague, not many other than there is a lot of grafitti around the town which is ashame and odd things to look out for, if you want to hire anything you need proof of ID such as passport or driving licence…..and this even applies if you want to hire a peddalo on the lake for 1 hour, which we've never done anywhere else. We will definitely visit Prague again and would have no hesitation about returning to the Hotel Casa Marcello.

This is a boutique hotel in part of what used to be a convent from 1300. It is not the standard / comfort hotel. It is beautiful, clean, in a perfect location. Breakfast very complete and nicely served. But you have to like this type of hotels. My husband complained because the wifi did not work and the shower was too small. The staff is wonderful. They have 2 parking spaces for people like us who drove to Prague and they charge half of what parkings charge. We went with our 2 kids and they gave us a two bedroom suite with the tub and shower/toilette separated. Worked very well for us. The beds are good, solid. They had air conditioning in the main room. Overall I liked it as I prefer this type of special places to standard hotels were everything works but ... Nothing is special.

It has a really privileged situation, 5 minutes from Starometske niamesti and little more from Karlúv most and lovely old renovated buildings that give it the possibility of a grat charming, but some things make me thing it's wasting chances.
Our first disappointment as we had two double rooms. They gave us a huge room, a kind of suite an another really small, and we had paid the same for both. Then we had to decide who was going to have one room and the other. One was too small, nearly without space for leaving or baggage while the other was bigger than necessary.
The worst point probably is it wasn't well cleaned. One of the pillows had hair on it on our first night. It could be forgiven if it was our second or third, but I think it wasn't properly cleaned for a change of guestes. We checked if they cleaned some things in the floor from one day to another and they didn't.
The beds were really unconfortable spring beds, where some of the springs made hard to find the right position.
Another bad point was that the shower wasn't swallowing the water as it's supposed too and it got rapidly full, with a high chance of flooding the whole bathroom.
Those were the really bad points. Then the building is labyrinthine, but that's understandable due the nature of it and once You learn how to get to your room it's not a big problem.
In the good part it's the reception staff, very helpful and friendly and the breakfast, fairly complete and good quality.
Overall, it wasn't a horrible experience, but we were a little bit disappointed, as we thought that, if they took more care to some points it could be a great hotel, but it really isn't.

Room Tip: The inside part rooms are really quite. Anyway it would be good to make sure You'll have one of...

Situated in a fully renovated old building, this family style hotel is close to Old Town Sq. and easy to get to. The popular new Beer Hall style pub "Lokal" is one corner away, as are the highly rated "Postel" and "La Degustation". Our rooms were ok. It had two baths, which would be nice but we didn't use the full tub. More seating would have been more practical - there was only one chair in the suite. Staff is friendly and helpful.
