Reviewed 6 April 2014

We travelled to Prague 2 weeks ago for 4 days and stayed in Hotel Jalta. We were collected from the Airport from a nice guy. He was pleasant and took our bags. Was great organising the pickup and we were at the hotel within 30mins - the pickup was complimentary and we paid 700CZK for return trip to the airport.

On checkin we were greeted by Paul who was very friendly throughout our stay. Always said hi to us and was nice to be acknowledged. The room was exactly how it was pictured on the website but I expected to have a better view from our room other than the back of buildings. I was dissappointed that had we paid for a standard/deluxe room we could have had a view of the square but instead we paid extra for a Suite and didn't have a good view at all. I'm sure there is method to the setup of the rooms but I thought if you paid for a good room that you would get the best of everything, obviously I am mistaken. It was quiet at the back of the hotel so maybe that's the advantage.

There was no complimentary bottled water in the room, you had to pay for the bottles on the desk in the sitting room. They only cost 80CZK so it was very cheap but surely a boutique hotel would provide complimentary water to their guests. I've never stayed in a boutique hotel that you had to pay for water in the room. Also I was a little dissappointed that you had to pay per capsule to use the Nespresso machine. The mini bar was very cheap and we had a couple of items from it.

Breakfast was fine, huge selection to suit everyone and the staff were professional and the area was very open with lots of room and the setup was very comfortable.

We did not eat in Como which I regret as all the reviews online are fantastic. We did however have a few drinks in the bar every night before going to the room and the drinks were reasonably priced. On the first night after we left the bar and were waiting on the lift to take us to our room, our waiter from the bar came out to say we hadn't paid for our round of drinks, we quickly advised him that we paid one of the other staff as he was not around when we wanted to pay our bill. He did not apologise and we were left embarrassed going to the room. He should have checked this before being quick to think we had just left without paying our tab. The same waiter (I didn't catch his name) served us on a couple of occasions after that experience and made no attempt to apologise for his mistake.

Other than that experience every other staff member was pleasant and very professional.

We really enjoyed coming back to the hotel every evening and just sat outside the bar to relax just having a few drinks and people watching!! The bar is very nice and we enjoyed hanging outside for an hour or so before going to the room.

Location of the hotel was perfect, within walking distance of all the popular tourist places. It was only a 10min walk to the old town and this is were we spent alot of our time.

I would recommend anyone to stay in this hotel but maybe not the Suite as I don't feel as if we got value for money. We would return to this hotel again but would stay in a cheaper room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the square

Dear Sammy2012_12,

thank you for your review here on TripAdvisor and for choosing to stay at the Jalta Hotel during your trip to Prague.

We are glad you enjoyed the location of our hotel and our staff. All of our suites have a view of the backyard, which is quieter that the opposite side and people often prefer it. However, next time we will be happy to offer you the standard or deluxe room so you can experience the other side. I am also glad you enjoyed Como, we have talked to the waiter about your case and we are sorry about this. Next time you must try the food out, as it is really worth it. A drink will be on us! :)

We will be looking forward to welcome you once again at the Jalta Hotel.

Best regards,

My boyfriend and I decided to travel to the beautiful city of Prague for Christmas ( Dec 2013) for a few days. We found Jalta to be a beautiful hotel set within a beautiful location which is central to all areas and within walking distance of all major attractions and the Old Town area.

The Wanceslav Square that the hotel is located on is absolutely breathtaking and Jalta is defiantely one of the nicest looking hotels from the outside.

We had booked a room with a balcony for the views, originally this was not the case however Adela at the front desk was more than helpful when it came to changing it over email communication to the square facing room with balcony that was on a higher floor and catered amazingly to our needs.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Concierge and helped with our luggage inside the hotel. At the front desk we met with Adela who knew straight away who we were which was rather refreshing after our email exchange to see that she had remembered our names.

We were rather delighted to see that the bed in our room was that of a larger size than normal..to some this might not seem like a big deal but when your boyfriend is 6ft6..trust me its a wonderful delight which made our nights sleep amazing!! So much so that at some points in our trip we would take random naps and relaxed instead of being out and about and one night stayed in instead and watched a movie - haha!! And now we are in the predicament of wanting to try and find a similar bed for our home!

All the staff were amazing in general, the breakfast in the morning was lovely and catered to the needs to that of most people I would say. The hotel also has a restaurant attached to the side of it which we had not tried excepting for the breakfast in the morning however every evening walking past it, it seemed rather full and buzzing!

The room had a lovely bathroom with a good range of towels that were replenished daily, ample closet space with a safe if needed and lovely comfy bathrobes..just a few of the luxuries you'd expect or could easily take for granted.

On each floor there is a table which is presented with a display of green apples - id say more for decor purposes however the floor that we stayed on had a few rooms with families and children and I'm guessing these apples came in rather handy for the few snacky/hungry children.
It became abit of our guessing game every night to guess how many apples were still on display before they were refilled :)

Overall we had a lovely room, lovely service, a good value for money breakfast and a lovely stay. On the morning of leaving, we had asked for help from Paul to book a taxi ride back to the airport through the hotel. The driver was prompt, the fee was reasonable and actually cheaper than that of the normal taxi driver we had used to get to the hotel on our arrival and the car was very comfortable and clean.

Overall we had had a wonderful experience, our only complaint would be that we found the room to be a bit hot at times and we were not able to adjust the heating/AC as it was on a central heating setting. However this is not a major issue at all and everyone has different temperature preferences.

Special thanks and mention to the staff that made our staff pleasant and lovely were Adela the reception Supervisor and Paul who were both very accommodating in all ways possible!

My boyfriend and I loved Prague as a whole which Jalta contributed to the experience and would definitely do it again some day in the future...and when that day comes - we would definitely stay at Jalta again!

Room Tip: TOP TIP - Definitely ask to be on a higher floor and pay the little bit extra to be in the Square fa...

Within walking distance from the train station, this place is top notch. The breakfast was extraordinary, the people at the hotel desk were extremely helpful, the room was spacious and contemporary. We booked on line and got a complimentary taxi ride back to the airport. Highly recommend this hotel.

I am normally prompt in posting my reviews about our hotel stays for our vacations. I visited the gorgeous city Prague in June 2013, stayed at Hotel Jalta for 3 nights. Right from the location to the rooms to the food - everything was top notch. Particularly would like to mention of the hotel desk who was "Slovakian", was very efficient and helpful to resolve the locker issue that i faced during the stay. I will highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Prague.

Not knowing much about what's to see in Prague I must say it's incredible!

They told us they upgraded our room on arrival, it was fantastic. Very clean, smart, amazing views, safe, mini bar! Brilliant!

I have looked at the views from peoples photos on here and couldn't advise if this is still the same as we looked out onto the street.

Extremely impressed with the service, very quick and attentive. Went for a meal in the restaurant on an evening and the waiters were brilliant, explained the food, origins of the wine and made us feel very comfortable.

Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice. First breakfast I've ever liked in a hotel.

We were also given a guided tour of the nuclear bunker, it's amazing to see. Just ask at reception they are very friendly.

I would visit again! Location is good, staff nice and lots to see in Prague we didn't have enough time! I would also recommend going to the chocolate museum! Lovely!

Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Found the hotel and rooms to be very clean and comfortable. Location is fantastic, even better than we had hoped for. Breakfast was good and there is also the Como Restaurant which is very reasonably priced for good food. Took a guided tour of the bunker museum which we found to be very interesting. One of the staff took us around at very short notice. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay here again.
