A beautiful building so close to everything! You can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the small neighborhood and yet you are in walking distance from all the important sighseeing. You can walk the whole center of the city without the need of using any means of transport!
So, it has already gained you with its location, and the "picture" can only get better.
A friendly smile welcomes you in the reception. The personel is always willing to satisfy any wish or strange request you may have. The check-in process is fast, but anyway there is always a hot cup of coffee and a biscuit next to the desk.
The rooms are very clean and tidy with a modern decoration, that makes you feel really warm and cozy. Since I have visited Prague for business I found very helpful the free wi-fi connection and the working area: really big desk and confortable chair. There are many areas to put things (bags and clothes) and I appreciate the fact that an umbrella is available for me, without asking for it, if I forget mine.
Most importantly, the bathroom is always very clean and I don't have to worry about anything, since all the products I need are there.
The breakfast is so unique! It is served in a very bright place with connection to a nice yard. There are many options in the buffet, but you also have the chance to order, among many things, whatever you want, that is prepared at that time in the kitchen. Most of the times there is also some czech speciality available for selection, and, apart from the standard options, there is a constantly renewed "menu of the day".

It is a place I strongly recommend as it combines three important aspects:
kind and friendly staff,
clean and comfortable rooms, and
great location.
But it is a place I enjoy visiting because of its special and unique character.

We stayed at the Maximilian in December 2012. It is a modern hotel at a great price on a quiet street within a 5 minute walk of Old Town Square. Nice sized, comfortable and clean rooms. Hotel staff were helpful and accommodating. Our room came with breakfast, which was very good with many options for vegetarians and meat eaters.

Room Tip: The goldfish in your room is a nice addition. As the hotel is on a quiet street across from a churc...

Good location, clean and friendly staff. Room decoration is very nice with some good taste. Too bad the bathroom, its a bit outdated and needs reform. Value is very good and rooms are nice. Would stay again if in Prague.

Stayed at the Maximilian for three nights this week, loved it. The location is great, just a few blocks from the old town square but hidden away on a quiet street. The breakfast was fantastic! The choices were excellent, the wait staff attentive, and the food was fresh and delicious. The room was a decent size for Europe with a comfortable bed. Parking is expensive but it is off the street and very secure. Would highly recommend if you don't mind walking a few blocks to the action. Would recommend the Red Wheel Restaurant for a Czech dinner just a block away.

My teenage daughter and I stayed in this hotel for three nights and were really impressed. For the price the room was as I'd expect. However, the staff's knowledge and helpfulness, the pet fish upon request, the complimentary afternoon tea, the delicious variety at breakfast, comfortable open sitting areas, honesty bar and location all exceeded our expectations.

To set the stage for this review....we are picky about our hotels when we travel since we like to have them be a haven that continues the joy of the vacation. We also like value for our money. We have found the a place that is our definition of perfection. Modern without being sterile; impeccably clean; staff that goes above and beyond in every capacity and offering every amenity anyone could wish. Our room was also perfection. Large, comfy bed with reading lights on each side; Nespresso machine, an immaculate bath with deep tub/shower and a wonderful view. We only do non-smoking and there was not a hint of smoke here. The view was amazing. If you want a similar experience, ask for the Black House (there are black and red sections) and an even numbered room. You should get a view of a 10th century church and picturesque buildings all around. Hastalska Street is the perfect location for a walking vacation as well. Quality restaurants are located very nearby and walking to all the sites is very easy (we are both in our 60s and healthy, and we never had a problem). We walked to Old Town, the historic synogogues, Charles Bridge and concerts at the Rudolphium on the river within 10-15 minutes. Each day starts with breakfast that, when first encountered, made me gasp a bit. A huge breakfast buffet with every type of food, hot and cold, and a supplemental menu of made-to-order specials (and you can do both!). Our frequent questions about navigating the city, restaurant recommendations, taxi accomodations, etc. were met with such attentiveness by the desk staff (thank you Sonie, Andrea and Dalila and all rest of the desk staff) that we were amazed. Even the best staffs we have met in the U.S. could not match them. The "lounge" is really a comfortably modern living room with an honor bar that allowed you to serve yourself a wide selection of beverages, and just sign a sheet and report how much of any alcoholic beverage you took. Free strudle was served each evening from 5-7, and cookies and coffee were always available in the lobby. Finally, the general staff were excellent. Every time we encountered them, huge smiles and greetings came. We especially want to thank Michael and Vilem who were extremely warm and helpful. Next time we stay (and this place would be the only one we consider) we will try the spa as well. It looked very tempting, but we had too many things on our sightseeing list. Oh yes...we will also ask for a goldfish! They provide one if you miss your pet at home! Really! Quite frankly, if you could find anything to complain about here, you must be one of those people who find joy in complaining, so you would be happier somewhere that would provide you those opportunities. This place just makes you happy.

Room Tip: We preferred the Black House section with an even numbered room. Red house is on the other side and...
