“Very comfortable room; great service; very good location”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

Brief summary: this sleek, modern hotel was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and professional, and provided excellent advice. Excellent breakfast buffet also had cook-to-order options. Very good location with nearby restaurants and tourist sites.

We stayed 4 nights in Room 141, in the Red Building. The king bed was very comfortable, and the space felt roomy. Furnishings are sleek and modern, and there is still plenty of room to store everything (not always the case in some sleek, modern hotels.) There are all the things you expect of a first-rate business class hotel: excellent free wifi, coffee/tea maker, robes/slippers, in-room safe, good work desk, two sitting chairs and table. There were also touches that showed thoughtfulness: appliance adapters already in the room; mini bar with room for your own stuff; very good bedside reading lights (the latter seem to be getting rare in some hotel renovations.) AC works well. Iron/board on request.

Spacious bathroom with a tub/shower. Nice Aveda toiletries.

Spotless housekeeping.

Excellent breakfast buffet with the option of cooked-to-order eggs and specialty items. The range was everything that shows they are trying to please with high quality: meats, cheeses, salmon, wide array of fruits, juice, pastries/breads, etc. and etc. Try the Bohemian pancakes, which are like crepes, and always on the to-order menu.

The comfortable sitting areas in the lounge also host coffee and cake most nights, wine, etc on others. The honor bar is well-stocked. Nice books to browse in the library.

Free internet access with printers in the guest area. Great for printing boarding passes.

The staff throughout is first-rate: friendly and professional, and speak a variety of languages well. Their advice and recommendations for restaurants, travel logistics, sightseeing, etc. was also valuable.

The location is excellent: close enough to walk to many of the sites and transit options, but in a quiet area that keeps you out of the fray. There are many very good options for restaurants in the neighborhood -- trust their advice to find good food and value.

My only suggestion for improvement is very minor: a few more copies of English-language newspapers at breakfast would be appreciated (there was one copy of the IHT and Financial Times, which are much appreciated, but given the number of English-speakers that were there when we were, it would be nice...I'd buy my own, but where to find in Prague?)

A caution: if you have some mobility issues, specify the Black house. The Red House requires some stairs that I did not see anyway around, but still a well-functioning elevator once you got to it.

We recently had three nights in Prague at the Hotel Maximilian.
Not only is Prague one of the most beautiful places in the world but this hotel is an outstanding place to stay and see it all. A great location, with beautiful rooms, lovely breakfast and extremely helpful staff. Perfectly placed just an easy walk to the Old Town Square.
You'll love it!

Although my review is a bit late (I traveled last August), this is the hotel I recommend to others if they tell me they are traveling to Prague. I LOVE the fish they brought to me as a companion. I named him "Nemo" and I wanted to bring him home with me to Chicago! The the entire staff was very accommodating. The breakfast was really great, and I loved the bright white dining room. I miss the teas they brewed for me every morning! Everything was fresh. The rooms as well as the entire hotel is very clean, which is an absolute MUST for me. It's in a quiet neighborhood near the Jewish quarter close to great shopping and nice restaurants. The entire staff was really great! Thank you, Maximilian Hotel, for being a part of my bucketlist dreams!

Attentive staff cannot do enough for guests. Excellent breakfast, perfectly cooked poached eggs (rarely found!!). Free wine & cheese tasting on Wednesdays 6-8pm, quite generous with wine. Other days coffee & cake, not so well patronised. Rooms large enough for desk, chairs etc, king sized beds. In room Tea making facilities plus free tea & coffee in lounge all day. Fast free wifi, plus access to desktop in business centre. Well located just around corner from main square.

Located in Josefov district, accessible to many places for travellers such as Old town, Karluv bridge and Prague castle.
Hotel is clean and modern furnished.
The Room(Superior Deluxe) has enough space with nespresso machine and aveda amenities.
Tea, coffee and cakes are provided in an open area from 17:00 everyday, cheese and wines on Wednesdays.
Breakfast is big with basics and optional dishes such as pankakes, quiches, smoothies are included.
Staffs are well trained and friendly.

Definitely comfortable stay and will be back Maximilian or Josef(the Group hotel)

That's the hotel I will be recommending to my friends visiting Prague. having been to many other hotels and flats in prague before, this is really the best value you can get in such a convenient - though quiet - location.
The service is really great, expecially when travelling with a 1 year old.

My family and I all agree that if we were ever to come back to Prague we would stay here. The staff were extremely helpful - selling us tram tickets and advising us which trams to get for the different things we wanted to see and reccomending great restaraunts. We even got a free goldfish in a tank in our room when we requested it (this is a free optional extra which the hotel offers). The rooms were lovely and luxourious. However the highlight of our stay here was the breakfasts. They had everything you could possibly want to eat from pancakes to aausages and srambled eggs to fruit salad. If anyone is coming to Prague they should stay in this hotel.
