Apart from being very modern and ‘hip’ (with an offer of an in-room pet fish, in case you miss your pet at home!), this hotel has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced! A few weeks prior to our arrival we received an email offering help with booking transfers, restaurants and spa treatments. The staff were patient and accommodating, answering queries in detail. Therefore upon arrival we had cars, dinners and a pamper package all organised, without doing a thing! This was very helpful.
During our stay the staff offered smiles and were always willing to help. Which was absolutely lovely!
I went on an early morning jog, organised by the hotel and got to see the city in a different way, another great touch.
Thank you Maximilian Hotel for a great stay.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the centrally-located Maximilian, but we weren't overwhelmed.

Pros: First and foremost, this hotel is in an excellent location, and it is a very modern hotel in a historic area. If your primary concern is location and if you get a good rate, this hotel is perfectly fine. In addition the breakfast spread was fantastic and included cooked to order eggs etc. We also appreciated that the proactive staff set up our dinner reservations before our arrival, and most of those on duty were very helpful during our visit. There was also a very nice ground floor with nicely decorated sitting spaces.

Cons: My biggest issue related to sleep quality- the mattress was old and uncomfortable, pillows were lumpy and strangely shaped. The bathrooms also were a bit less than stellar. The shower design made the bathroom flood during each shower, and the towels were old. In addition, the common space (aside from the ground floor) was a little disappointing. There was a strong mildew smell in the hallway and garbage smell in the stairwell, and there was no service elevator so staff and carts shared the only elevator.

Overall, the location was fantastic but the hotel was average. If you're looking for location and you can book a room at a good rate, the Maximilian is a very good option.

Room Tip: 6th (top) floor doesn't have elevator access.

Dear M C,

First of all, please allow me to thank you for having chosen the Maximilian Hotel in Prague as well as for providing us with your detailed feedback. We are pleased that you mentioned so many features you enjoyed here, such as location, breakfast and our staff.
Regarding the cons of your review, we are truly sorry to hear that you didn't find our bed and pillows comfortable - we are aware that the European pillows are different in shape and size and that is why we understand that they were not to your liking. As for the towels, we are currently refreshing our supply with a new delivery.
We are very surprised to hear about the above mentioned mildew smell - we believe that it might have been the special scents that come from our massage studio, but we will look further into the issue.
Once more, we would like to thank you for your feedback and we sincerely hope that you had a nice time in Prague.

Kind regards,
Andrea Járvás

Maximilian Hotel was wonderful. I booked a convenient transfer from the train station to the hotel which, given that I had never been to Prague, was great for peace of mind. The rooms were spacious, the bed was comfortable, I loved the option of the goldfish in the room, the Nespresso machine and the free DVD lending service were bonuses, and the chocolates and strawberries left in my roon when I checked in was a thoughtful touch. The hotel is a quick walk to the Old Town square so it is very conveniently located. The included breakfast buffet was expansive and very tasty and the hotel staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone interested in visiting Prague.

One the best hotel, which we have ever stayed (we really have a huge experience). Price/quality is super. All was excellent, breakfast was very delicious. The only thing which is worse than others is absence of the heating - it can be a bit cold in winter.

Dear Vasiliy C,

Many thanks for your superb review on our TripAdvisor page regarding your stay at the Maximilian Hotel. We are really happy that you were satisfied with so many aspects.
We are so sorry to realize afterwards that you had problems with the temperature, and we truly hope that it didn't affect your stay. We do have a heating system in all our rooms, and I regret that we didn't inform you about this well enough or provided more assistance with setting it up to your personal comfort.
We sincerely hope that you had a great time in Prague and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
