We had just returned from a 5 day trip to Prague and stayed at the Hotel Maximilian, located in Old Town, steps from the Old Town Square.

The hotel is ultra modern in decor. Our room was on the top floor in the Black Building with a wonderful view of a beautiful church right across the street. The room was extremely clean. Our only gripe -- because of the ultra-modern decor -- they are very into minimalist so there are no dressers with drawers, only shelves.

The bathroom was a good size with a great shower.

They serve a free banquet breakfast which has everything you could possibly want.

The staff on the whole speaks excellent english and are very willing to help with all kinds or requests, including showing us how to make an international call from our room. We were somewhat telephone retarded.

I highly recommend this hotel.

Having seen the positive reviews of the Maximilian on Tripadvisor we booked through Expedia without fuss. We contacted the Hotel to arrange transport from and to the Airport and this was also dealt with promptly with good communication from the Hotel, a Hotel car waiting for us at the Airport with the driver holding a large card with our name on - top marks!
On arriving at the Hotel we were further pleased to find that we were allowed to check in early( both being in need of a little freshen up). The room although fairly compact was spotlessly clean and had with all the expected amenities, although only one bathrobe - is this standard practice? A very minor gripe.
With this review in mind I timed the walk from the Hotel to the Old town square, and it is literally five minutes away( for two fortysomethings), and if you don't get lost like we did, is about fifteen minutes from Charles Bridge.
The reception staff booked our excursions for us (through Grayline Tours) and we were picked up at the Hote, another plus.
The Honesty Bar.. a good idea in theory, but we found it kinda sterile, more like a waiting room and kinda pricy for Prague..£6 a Whisky?...good thing we're honest!
All in, a well run, clean comfortable Hotel in a great location with friendly efficient staff, we would happily go back to the Maximilian.

This hotel was a great find, clean comfortable rooms, one receptionist in particular was extremely helpful and her english was excellent. The hotel itself isn't in the prettiest location but this does not spoil your enjoyment. It is a one minute walk to the underground (very safe and the officials are always checking you for tickets (you will receive an on the spot fine if you do not have one even if the machine at the entrance is not working so you can't get a ticket!!)and five minute journey to the centre of Prague. The hotel is a short walk to Prague Castle.

Would definitely recommend the hotel if you like contemporary design. Good location in Josevov 3 blocks from Old Town Square. Room was large (for Europe) and nicely appointed. Staff very helpful. (You can purchase tram/Metro tickets from them which is very convenient.) Excellent breakfast. Nice library and lounge.

We arrived at the Maximilian tired and out of sorts after a long flight from America including lost luggage at Frankfurt Airport and a missed connection to find our booking had been put in the system as 2007 not 2006. Thank goodness for the wonderful staff at this hotel and their sister hotel 'The Josef' where we ended up staying one night while the mess was sorted out. We found the facilities at both Hotels to be above average although 'The Josef may be a little better. Both are situated a short walk to the Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter, The Powder Tower many good restuarants and almost anywhere else you want to go in beautiful Prague. If I ever go back to Prague I would not hesitate to stay at either of these Hotels.

Excellent hotel situated 5-10 min walk from the town square. Rooms very clean and nicely furnished. Lots of hot water and fantastic shower with complimentary soaps and gel.
Everything you would want for breakfast, cold and hot food available and as much as you can eat.

Try eating at Lary Fary - chocolate fondue is to die for.
Excellent eateries nearby and you are away from the hustle of the main square. I felt very safe walking around the streets even at night.

Staff at the hotel were very helpful and would give you ideas of where to eat. Staff were very friendly and quite different from stern faces I had expected.

Oder a AAA taxi from the hotel to the airport much cheaper.

We loved this hotel. The location was perfect. The room was nice, the bathroom was great. The breakfast was terrific. The honor bar and free coffee was a real plus. You can walk to anywhere from here and it is on a quiet street. The rooms are not big, but are really comforable.
Our bags were lost and the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and took a lot of time to help us locate them. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.
