“Perfect hotel, perfect Location in a perfect city.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2014

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights in March and had a brilliant stay.

The hotels looks great from the outside and really fits in with the surroundings for one, inside it has a very old style classical look which again works.

Rooms are a good size and the amenities are also great, in room coffee machine, big TV with a couple of English channels if you need the TV, Bathroom is a great size even for two :). We had a room on the 7th floor it was very quiet, no street noise even with the windows open.

Location is perfect, you can walk to any of the local sites in Prague within I would say 45 mins max, there is a pharmacy and local shops close by which is also handy for any little extras you fancy or need for your stay.

Breakfast is A-MAZING and sets you right up for the day, you have a full American style buffet, thin sliced bacon, local sausage's, eggs of any kind at request, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms and pancakes possibly more if I have forgotten.

Then you have loads of lovely cakes, pastries, breaks, cheeses, meats, fruits, fruit juices, coffees oh and champagne.... so breakfast will set you up for the day easily!

The staff are very helpful and super friendly, the desk staff will help you with any requests and are great with all of the local attractions.

Across the road there is also a great bar, the fusion bar, very funky and relaxed which is perfect for a late night stop in after a meal for a cocktail, beers, bottle of fiz along with a shisha.

I would 1000% recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family as you can't beat any or the pro's that is has to offer.

Room Tip: 7th Floor was perfect for us.

The Palace has always meant something in Prague. It’s one of the oldest luxury hotels boasting classical art nouveau style and atmosphere. Also, according to the photographs hanging in the café, it has been visited by quite a few famous personalities. Also, it is located just a few steps away from the Wenceslas square and many other sights which makes the location perfect for everyone who wants to explore the beautiful city of Prague.

So, what could possibly go wrong? Unfortunately, there are some things worth mentioning.

Let’s start with the general appearance. The building is quite subtle on the outside, which is no problem at all, its green façade fits right into the style of the street. When you walk in, the stylish lobby welcomes you and everything seems to be alright. The staff is nice, the bellboy takes your luggage and you enter your room. And that’s when you start noticing problems.

The room is not small, on the contrary, it’s reasonably big. It doesn’t even look bad at first sight. The problem comes when you start noticing things. First of all, you discover that everything is old. And I don’t mean the classic style. Almost all objects are quite worn and shabby. The bathroom, although it is covered in very nice marble, has quite ugly stains between tiles and water doesn’t drain off from the sink unless you remove the cover. This is, however, not the most important thing. I think that the room should provide comfort. Actually, if the hotel has 5 stars, quite a lot of it. And the room we were given just didn’t. First of all, if you expect 5-star entertainment, forget about it. There is a historical and quite small television which you can barely see from the bed. Actually, if you wish, there are some on demand movies, but that would be such a waste of money… Secondly, probably the most important factor that determines whether you are satisfied or not, is how you sleep at night. And here you cannot really sleep. It’s not because of the bed, which is comfortable, but because of the windows. The alleged triple glazed windows don’t stop any noise louder than regular voice. And we had a room facing a back alley, not the main street with tram lines. Unfortunately, there is a pub in that alley and the people coming out of it don’t really care about well-being of others at night. Unfortunately, neither does the hotel. To sum it up, the rooms do need a decent update.

The breakfast was very good, no problems at all – good service and a lot to choose from. So maybe if we had been given a quieter room or if we had booked an executive room, everything would have been alright. All in all, mainly because of the ruined sleep, I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

Martin Ž, General Manager at Art Nouveau Palace Hotel, responded to this review, 25 March 2014
Dear guest Jackkk1,
Many thanks for your honest and detailed feedback on the Art Nouveau Palace hotel. You are absolutely right in saying that the hotel´s 5th star is gone…and that already many years ago. As a new general manager of this iconic hotel operated now under new ownership, I can only assure you and other travellers that together with my team we are working hard on bringing this hotel to the proper 5-star level where it belongs. We have done already some remarkable improvements and enhancements to our hotel and guest services. Just only two weeks ago, we finished a 2-month bedroom renovation project. Our rooms were fitted with a new carpet, got repainted, equipped with modern individually controlled air-conditioning/heating units and our Tripadvisor´s famous historical TVs´ were replaced by brand new 39´ LED televisions. Those expensive on demand movies are gone, replaced by a long list of over 45 international TV channels to satisfy the needs of all our international guests. Our classical furniture was also completely restored as well as our luxurious Italian Carrara marble bathrooms. And last but not least, while we were renovating our bedrooms, our windows were newly insulated too. It does not really stop the trams from running on the Prague streets nor the happy people from singing after having a few good Czech beers, but it surely helps to our guests to have a better good-night sleep. Thank you for complimenting our breakfast and the service my team provides to our guests. Those are our biggest attributes frequently mentioned by many travellers. I hope you will give us another chance during your next trip to Prague so we can show you all we did and will continue to be doing in order to bring the 5th star back to our dear guests. Thank you for taking the time to send us your review.

When you enter this nice hotel in the center of Prague, you will find good service in the reception ( so helpful ) - We got a big nice and clean room on 5 floor - and big breakfast with all that you want - and super service from the young waiters. Put your walkingshoes on, and enjoye the beautiful town.
We stayed 3 nights on the hotel.

This hotel is a minute walk from main square, its cheap, very clean, great rooms, great staff and well stocked breakfasts.
I stayed for 2 nights with 6 friends, well looked after.
I stayed in 301 which was a fairly big room almost a suite although the only downside was we slept with the window open and the trams run all night right under your window.
This hotel is in a great location and a short walk to anywhere, only 30 mins from the airport.

This hotel was our first stop of our week long trip. The reception was very kind and when our room wasnt ready- offered us free drinks at the bar. after we ordered- the room was ready- so we're talking like 5 minutes difference. The hotel was right near Wenceslas square and in walking distance to a lot of different sites. The concierge was also helpful in helping us pick a restaurant on our first night there and booking a dinner cruise on the Vltava River. The breakfast was great and every person was just happy. A great start to our trip.

This hotel was excellent in every respect. The staff were well informed when asked about tourist destinations and how to get there. The service at the lovely buffet breakfast was exemplary and everything was spotlessly clean. The beds were huge and very comfortable. Altogether a wonderful experience and one I would not hesitate to recommend.

Great location, just one block away from the Wenceslas Square where the mains restaurants and stores are located.
Atencious staff, big and spacious rooms.
Breakfast could be better, there is not so much variety.
