“Lovely breakfast, large room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2011

Very large, simple, and comfortable room with a great tub for soaking and couch for talking and reading. The breakfast was one of our favorites of the trip - - especially the fruit salad, omelette and pot of decaf - - in a pretty breakfast room. Our view was of the courtyard, so nothing special but quiet. ßWe chose the hotel because of its interesting history, relatively recent remodel and good ratings. It was a bit of a challenge to get there from the train station by tram (terribly crowded) but not far from the metro and tram once we learned our way around. A taxi might be a better solution with luggage. It wasn’t quite as close to the main tourist sites or restaurants as I'd have liked (given the rainy weather) but it was an easy walk down cobblestone streets.

The quick summary, this is a wonderful, small, quiet, reasonably priced, conveniently located hotel. We highly recommend it.

My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Unitas for a week in September 2011 and were very pleased with it. Our room was large, clean, quiet, and nicely furnished. The hotel is on Bartolomejska St which is a very quiet, narrow, one way street with almost no traffic and nothing much except police office buildings and a small store that sells model trains on it. We drove to and missed the street (even with our GPS) the first time and almost drove past the hotel without seeing it the second time. But once we saw the sign and drove through the front gate we were charmed with everything we found. The reception area is very neat and pleasant, it has a large array of guide books and DVDs covering both Prague and the Czech Republic that you can borrow and play on the DVD player in your room. There is free wi-fi access throughout the hotel and they will lend you a portable computer to take to your room asking only for a deposit that is returned when you bring the computer back. There is a book swap where you can leave books you have finished and take books other people have left with selections in many languages including English. The front desk people were outstandingly pleasant and friendly, telling us how to get to places including a restaurant that had good meals at prices local people could enjoy (Restaurant Stoleti), where a 24 hour pharmacy was (and it was open at 10:00PM on Sunday once we went into the building and knocked on the locked door) and helping us when we had a problem with the rental car. The included breakfast was perfect. They make eggs or waffles to order but we chose to select from the wide variety of foods on the buffet table most days.

The hotel has a large interior courtyard that provides parking for its guests. the location is a two block walk from the National Theater where many of the trolley car lines have a stop and is also close to a Metro stop. The clock tower, old town square, Charles Bridge, and almost everything else we wanted to see were only a short walk away, less than 10 minutes for us and we are in our 70's.

Our "traveler's tip" is to buy an all day or three day transportation pass, good on the trolleys, buses and metro, and ride the trolley lines all over the city. Line 22 goes across the river, past the lower entrance to the Castle, and up the hill and around to another entrance, three stops later that is much more convenient.

Room Tip: A few rooms look out on the street but we thought rooms overlooking the courtyard were better, not t...

This ex-convent, ex-secret police interogation HQ is located in a quiet street in Prague Old Town about 10 minutes walk from the Old Town Square and Charles Bridge. It was recently converted into an ultra-modern hotel but you can still see on the high ceilings where the nuns' cells would have been. Our room was clean, large, warm and comfortable with large en suite shower, toilet, large wash-basin and vanity unit and lots of extras such as robe, slippers, body lotion, sewing kit, face wipes, tissues. Wardrobe with plenty of hangers. Buffet breakfast was a good choice of cold meats, cheeses, hot dishes, cereal, fruit, yogurt, cakes. Staff at Reception and breakfast spoke perfect English and were very helpful. Nothing negative at all.

Room Tip: Don't think all rooms were as big as ours so perhaps ask for larger room

This is a great hotel. It has a good location, only 10 minutes walk from the Charles Bridge and a few minutes walk from the main shopping area where you can get buses, trains and trams to anywhere in the city. It a very quiet street, in an area that we (two women) felt very safe and comfortable walking around in, even late at night. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was huge with lovely comfortable beds and the breakfast was great, with a lot of choice and always fully stocked. There are some lovely restaurants nearby, we would particularly recommend Restaurant Rainer Maria Rilke, it's a few minutes walk from the hotel and serves fantastic traditional Czech food - we liked it so much we ate there twice in our four day visit to Prague. My only negative point was that the wifi cut out quite regularly, but this is only a minor point and everything else was just perfect.

Room Tip: I wouldn't have liked a room on the ground floor near the breakfast room, I imagine you would he...

Booked on the basis of reviews here and was not at all disappointed. Spotlessly clean, simple elegant room, large bathroom with quality fitments. Buffet breakfast (including white sparkling wine!) with a-la-carte omlettes / pancakes if you so desire. 7-8 minute walk to Charles Bridge, 10-12 to old square. Forgot to bring toiletries but shouldn't have worried, decent free shampoo / soap etc. & even disposable slippers. Breakfast 'til 11am (11:30 at weekends) and checkout at midday was a pleasant surprise (50 Euros for late checkout to 6pm)

No complaints at all. Very convenient - walking distance from the train station and close to all the attractions, spacious quiet rooms and an excellent breakfast that stays open late (1100 to 1130). And despite being in a quiet side street there are 3 or 4 bars and restuarants right next door.

The place has an interesting history you may wish to check out.

Based on Trip Advisor reviews we booked 6 nights here. As the other reviewers said, excellent location on a quiet side street, close to the Charles Bridge, and minutes from the center of the Old Town. The police station is across the street and a church is right next door. The rooms are large, clean and quiet. Excellent breakfast with large selection is included in the room price.

You could spend a lot more money on a hotel but it would be hard to beat this.
