“Great location - fantastic place to stay”
Reviewed 1 September 2009

My partner and I were travelling to Prague for a friend's wedding and we stayed a few extra days to take in the sights and sounds of this great city. This hotel is perfectly placed for exploring the New Town and the Old Town on foot.

The staff were extremely polite and helpful, although we didn't put them to the test too much. The bar was lacking atmosphere, but there are hundreds of good bars no more than a short walk away so that didn't bother us.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anybody wishing to stay somewhere nice and central, and not in one of the faceless multinational chains.

I loved my stay at this hotel. Fantastic location; comfortable, clean, and well-decorated rooms and bathrooms (with Aveda toiletries); and an extremely friendly staff who gave excellent service throughout. The concierges were particularly helpful, and their various restaurant and café recommendations were spot on.

The perks: I got a free massage for booking directly with the hotel online, which was excellent. There is a complimentary computer room or free WiFi. And best of all, they serve the best breakfast I've ever had in a hotel anywhere in the world. Half a dozen kinds of berries, 4 kinds of melon, kiwi, mango, and many other fruits, 10 kinds of nuts & seeds, 5 different breads, a cheese board that was unbelievable (Brie, Parmesan, blue cheese, goat's cheese, Pecorino, 3 kinds of Swiss cheese), eggs any way you like, pancakes, 5 kinds of yoghurt, a wide selection of cereal, potatoes, beans, smoked salmon, tuna, and pastries. And that's just what I can remember - there's probably more that I left out!

I will certainly recommend this hotel to family and friends, and hope to stay there again soon myself.

Location was good only a few minutes walk from the main square. There were also plenty of more reasonably priced bars and restaurants on the walk to the square. You will pay a heavy supplement for the expereince of actually eating or drinking in a place on the sqaure itself. The hotel was comfortable. Shower only in the room but was very big with good water pressure. Very comfortable large king sized bed. Room was a bit plain due to hotel styling although very tasteful. Coul do with more space for clothes as there are no draws. For the price I paid on expedia I thought this was good value.

Hotel Josef surpassed our expectations - its location is excellent, the interior is contemporary (quite minimalist) and spotless, the staff friendly and a concierge service was available where nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to the staff we had a great experience of Prague. Attention to detail gave us a feeling of real luxury - DVDs available to 'borrow' for free, fruit in the lobby and complementary drinks, city maps and bar / restaurant reviews, and even breakfast served til 11.30 (very decadent for parents escaping for a weekend!). We felt the Hotel gave great value for money, would happily stay again and recommend it to anyone.

This hotel will recieve many accolades for its trendy design and facilities, and rightly so. Looking behind the obvious it is a haven of quality and excellence of service that many more famous hotels would do well to copy. The rooms were fantastic with amazing bathrooms in the centre which were see through and had mirrored doors. They had thought of everything including instructions on how to go to sleep! We returned from an afternoon out to find a half bottle of champagne and strawberries waiting for us! Breakfast was the best selection ever, and we ate in in the gardens.
We would love to go back. We ate out at a Jazz restaurant which was a street away called Red Hot 7 Blues. Fantastic live Jazz, great service and fun food. We recomend it!

We arrived late and did not receive as friendly a welcome as had hoped. We had signed up for welcome cocktail, but were then told we had to wait until the next day as the bar was just closing, but there were many people in the lounge. The concierge was very helpful in making recommendations for restaurants and tour guides. The fitness area was great, but needed some fans or A/C. The elevators were out of commission for a day and a half and we had to carry our luggage down five flights of stairs upon check-out. If you are looking for a modern/trendy hotel this place is perfect and has a great location to Old Town Square.

We had a very relaxing short break in Prague for a family wedding and the Josef was a good base from which to see the many sites of Prague.
The staff were very pleasant, helpful and attentive from the moment we arrived until the time of our departure. The hotel was spotlessly clean, which is not easy when almost everything is glass in the room.
Definitely a hotel we would visit again but for a longer stay.
