Great hotel - rooms are very nice, service is great (rooms include Aveda toiletries and turndown service), lobby bar is cool (but very overpriced), and internet is free. Also had a gym. I recommend hotel highly. But, please be aware that Prague is filled with too many businesses ripping off tourists. I got tired of going to restaurants that added on random charges and mandatory 10-20% tips (even when the menu says that tips are already included or discretionary). When I got the courage once to mention it to the waiter, he made a dramatic scene, ruining what was otherwise a fine meal. Also, please don't use Laundryland if you need to launder your clothes (at first, the prices on website seemed reasonable for pick-up/drop off laundry services; but, imagine my shock when I received a bill for over $70 for just 2 loads of laundry). In Prague, you can't let your guard down or else you risk being scammed - it's a real shame (I didn't realize how bad it would be until I got here). Sorry for the diatribe - Hotel Josef is great (just be prepared for everything else in Prague).

Excellent hotel in a great location. We stayed there for 3 nights in June 2006. The hotel is located near the Old Town Square (you can actually hear the clock chiming) on a fairly quiet side road. Staff were friendly and rooms were very modern with gorgeous bathroom products. Only downside was that there was a distinct lack of coathangers and drawer space- although it was OK for a short break. We explored the city on foot and although it was really hot (around 32 degrees at midday) there are loads of places to stop for a drink or an ice cream. We didn't eat in the hotel but the food in Prague was excellent. For snacks we liked 'Gourmand' which is very near the hotel and you can either eat in or take away. Chez Marcel next to the Maximillian Hotel was also very good and we particulatly liked Escape restaurant which is again not far from the hotel and served some local specialties. Food and drinks were inexpensive in comparison to British prices. All in all worth a visit.

We just spent 6 nights at the Hotel Josef and were very happy with the accommodations and the excellent and helpful staff. The only negative is that they permit cigar smoking in their lobby bar. The rooms were extremely comfortable and the concierge was superb.

The hotel was stylish, convenient, and efficient. Came to the Josef after a disappointing night spent elswhere in Prague. The Josef was a breath of fresh air. The breakfast is vast and delicious! The concierge helped us plan nights out to the opera (a must see) and some local eatieries. I would recommend it highly.

Clean lines, with plenty of chrome and steel. Contempary design. Large comfortable rooms.
Marble bathrooms. A very restful and well designed hotel in a nice side street just a few minutes walk from the sights. No restaurant but a very nice breakfast room overlooking a grassed courtyard offering a good buffet. The staff are very helpful and attentive with excellent English. Special mention to the lady concierge who arranged some good tours for us. The hotel also arrange for us to be met and returned to the airport for a very reasonable charge.
I would highly reccomend this hotel for business, weekend or city breaks.

This is a wonderful modern high-style hotel in an excellent location. There is only one problem with it. Despite having shutters on the outside and shades on the windows inside, there was little light blockage and the room was very bright in the morning. If you like to sleep late or are sensitive to morning light, this isn't the place for you. The location was very convenient while being slightly out of the hubbub and thus reasonably quiet and peaceful. We paid $182 using Expedia.
