We decided to go here first as it was close to our hotel after arriving in late afternoon. Found the information interesting if not depressing. Made me appreciate current day Prague even more. Yes it could use a bit of a makeover but the short movie and the exhibit on North Korea were very well done. Worth the visit.

Ok so Communism sucks... but you really don't need to pay close to 10 Euros to confirm it. This museum is a big downer. Once you get in, there aren't many interesting facts. Most of it lacks historical continuity and is pretty hard to read - it looks like it was copy-pasted from a cheap translator (before google translate existed).

Very propagandist. You will not learn much from an academic point of view, instead it will be a direct hit to your guts and you will hate anything that starts with Communi....

Housed in a nondescript, hard-to-find location on the second floor down an alley near a cabaret, I didn't have high hopes for this place. I thought we would be in and out in a matter of minutes having wasted yet another $20 on entrance fees. Boy, was I wrong. Although this museum required a lot of reading, I learned a ton about Czech struggles and their triumphs. Don't miss the short film about the Velvet Revolution. The length of your visit will be determined by your standing ability and your reading tolerance.

I loved this museum because it combined a wicked sense of humor about the Communist rule in the Czech Republic with a lot of good historical documentation of the main events and characters of the Communist era. The museum is a little hard to find, as it is (fittingly), located in a back courtyard above a Casino and a McDonald's. Be sure to spend some time in the gift shop and get yourself a poster entitled " You couldn't find laundry detergent in the store but you could get your BRAINWASHED" or perhaps matching candles of Lenin and Stalin.

We thought that this museum would be interesting, but we spent over an hour learning more about Communism than we thought possible, even though we are baby boomers. Highly recommend for everyone, regardless of age.
