Just a short tram ride from the main train station, Amadeus is a good value and a refreshing find in Prague, a city that is generally quick to separate you from your money. The staff is friendly, helpful and speaks English. The rooms and furniture are a bit old but clean and comfortable. The t.v. is tiny, but if your in Prague, you shouldn't be watching t.v. anyway. Amadeus is located on a quiet street but within walking distance of a few restaurants and pubs and the Zimmerman Theatre. There is a wine bar on the ground floor which also serves as the breakfast room. We had no problems and left the hotel well rested with the feeling that we got a good deal.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way home from a 2 week holiday in the Czech Republic. The hotel is clean, the rooms are a good size and the staff are polite and speak different languages. Our room was on the 2nd floor, which involved climbing 2 flights of stairs with heavy bags - no lifts. The room had a bad drain smell from the shower room, which we cleared by opening the window and turning the extractor fan on. The hotel put down loads of bleach and cleaners for our second night, but it was coming back when we left. The bed was large but the mattress was thin and covered only in one sheet which was a bit small and revealed some stains. Breakfast was adequate and had the usual selection of hot & cold food, cheese & ham. The coffee was good and there was a selection of different teas as well as cold drinks & water. For it's convenient location this was good for a short break, but I wouldn't stay here for any longer.

Room Tip: If you have big/heavy bags or have mobility problems this hotel probably isn't for you as there...

This is our favorite Prague hotel. We always stay here during our Prague trip. It has nice rooms, almost each with balcony. It is located in a quiet street, but it is still close to the city centre with comfortable access to the whole city (close to Prague train main station). It provides reasonable value in terms of price and quality. The hotel restaurant serves delicious breakfast. I really recommend this hotel :). I like it.

Room Tip: Apartments with balcony are the best.

* location: the only positive about this place, 2 tram stops to city center

* rooms: hostel style rooms, bathroom and shower were terrible

* service: poor breakfast and for the entire stay we only spoke to the hotel staff twice, during the check-in and check-out

Amadeus is situated on a quiet back street, a 5 minute walk from Husinecka tram stop. I've stayed here a few times over the years, and it's always been ok. The rooms are clean and spacious. I noticed that they have upgraded some of the t.v's to flat screen ones instead of the old tiny portables. It would be nice to have a few english speaking channels instead of just CNN, but it's normal for budget hotels in prague. Beds and pillows are not as comfy as somewhere like Victoria, and my room was a bit on the cool side even with the heating turned up. The breakfast is very good, with the usual selection of ham, cheese, eggs, sausage, cereals, breads, yogurt, juices....and the strong coffee will certainly wake you up. However, there are only six or seven tables in the breakfast room so it can get a bit crowded sometimes and you might have to wait for a table. All in all, a good hotel for the price.

We arrived rather late and check-in was rather quick. Got to the rooms and they were clean but basic. The en-suite was fine, there was a TV with CNN which was good enough for me. Bed was comfortable and there were enough sheets, and towels were provided.

I didn't think much of the breakfast, a choice of 3 cereals, salami, ham and cheese, yoghurt, boiled eggs, bread and jam/honey, fruit and juice, tea & coffee. It was very basic and the breakfast staff were rather miserable and unhelpful, but I guess you get what you pay for.

The reception staff couldn't do enough for us, they were incredibly helpful and polite. The key for the room was very chunky and too big to fit in your pocket, this is to discourage you from taking it out of the hotel, the staff preferred you to hand it in at reception each time you went out, which was fine. The cleaning staff were nice too, just the breakfast staff that were awful.

The surrounding area (which is called Žižkov) was very Czech, not too much English spoken. On the plus side of this things were a lot cheaper compared to Prague centre, with respect to bars, shops etc. It was around a 20 minute walk to the centre of Prague, which is fine but there are a lot of busy roads to cross, some of them with and some of them without traffic lights. Alternatively there's a tram stop a 5 minute walk away where you can catch a tram for less than a pound to Wencelas Square. Overall a pleasant experience at this hotel.

Room Tip: Beware twin rooms have more like a double bed rather than two singles, it's basically two single...

We arrived at our hotel around 1am and confirmed beforehand that we would arrive late and this was no problem at all. Check in was quick and smooth and payment was made (99€ for a double room for 4 nights). Our room was number 21 and was on the second floor up 2 flights of stairs (no lift), this could be a problem if you have heavy suitcases but we didn't find it an issue. First impression of the room was that it was clean and a reasonable size. Our room had a separate toilet and shower room, some rooms had both facilities in one room. Heating in the room worked fine, temperature was comfortable and always hot water from shower. None of the rooms have fridges or tea/coffee making facilities, again we didn't find this a problem. Our room was quiet, no noise could be heard from the neighbours and no noise from cars or trams at night, so we slept well every night. Free wi-fi in all rooms and polite friendly staff.

Breakfast was as we expected - 3 varieties of cereal, natural yoghurt, cubes of cheese, laughing cow type cheese triangles, ham, salami, boiled eggs, hotdog-type sausages, various breads and rolls (toaster was available to use), butter, jams, honey, tea, coffee and juices.

Location of hotel was great, 5 minute walk to nearest tram stop, trams run every 5-10 minutes, 10 minute tram ride to city centre. Can recommend the Spirit bar at the end of the road on the corner, great atmosphere, cheapest beer we've found at 25 CZK for 0.5 litre (about 85p!) and the food was great value. In fact it was the best meal we had during our stay (other meals were good too).
