“Nicel hotel, brilliant location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Having not been to Prague before I was a little bit worried booking a hotel in the so called "Lesser Quarter" or Mala Strana. I needn't have been, the location couldn't be better, right next to The Charles Bridge so with great access to this and all of the other the main tourist attractions, but without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the New or Old town squares. The Mala Strana is far from less worthy than quarters on the other side of the bridge.

We travelled for 4 nights in celebration of our Wedding Anniversary and left our children with their grandparents!

The hotel, being next to the bridge is obviosuly right on the river, situated in an almost Parisian tree lined boulevard, with a lovely park at one end.

We read previous views and took the option of paying a little extra for the "Deluxe" top floor rooms with a rivew view. And what a view it is - right out over Charles Bridge. I believe this added to our experience of the hotel considerably.

The hotel is a decent "boutique" hotel. No real frills, but the decor was nice and modern with a Czech twist. It had a nice cellar restaurant.

The bedroom was large with the typical low light ambience of fairly trendy hotels. Nice big leather sofa and comfy beds (from which that great view of the bridge can be seen). The bathroom was tiny (given how large the bedroom was, we thought this odd) but the all important shower was great. One criticism I would make is that the walls in the bedroom were paper thin. We could hear every word of our neighbours late night (ahem) "conversations"!

The staff were all fine if not amazingly attentive or friendly, but efficient nonetheless. Some people for instance may baulk at having to take their own bags up to their room (I actually prefer to do it myself, if I am being honest).

In terms of cost and what we have paid around Europe, for the best room in a 4* hotel - it was dirt cheap. As on the whole was Prague.

All in - I think you will probably struggle to find a better balance of value, quality and location in Prague.

Room Tip: Deluxe room with river view a must.

Spent a great weekend in Prague at this wonderful hotel. Its location is fantastic just at the side of Charles Bridge, near enough for access to all the great sights in Prague but in a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The room we had was spacious and comfortable and very clean. All the staff are very attentive and were always on hand with helpful hints when requested. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and the waitress was very efficient when replenishing food and clearing and resetting the tables. All in all a lovely place to stay.

Just got back from an excellent short stay in the wonderful city of Prague. The Archibald at the Charles bridge is a fantastic hotel, it is in an excellent location just a short walk to the Charles Bridge and many other attractions such as Prague Castle and the Old Town Square. The hotel is a very friendly place to stay, all the staff go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They are always on hand to help with travel information and best places to visit. The hotel itself is lovely the rooms are spacious and very comfortable, ours had a separate bathroom, good wardrobe space, tv, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and a large comfortable bed (although they are two beds pushed together it was great). The breakfast was superb both hot and cold food available and plenty of it. The lady who works in the breakfast room is very friendly and works very hard, she never stops and food is always replenished as soon as it is getting low and tables are cleared immediately so you don't have to wait ...well done! All in all the hotel is an excellent place to stay and we would certainly recommend it to our friends, it really made our stay in Prague wonderful!

The hotel is right beside the Bridge so one has immediate access to the Bridge and both sides of the river. One can easily walk everywhere. Our room was two rooms - quite large with windows opening onto the cobblestone street and cafes below. Great breakfast - vast variety! Good bed, good bathroom, lots of space, quiet at night, and helpful friendly staff! They gave us excellent advice, directions, and information! I would recommend this hotel and stay there again in a heartbeat!

Superb location almost literally underneath the Charles Bridge! Located on a really quaint and quiet island - named "Kampe".

This was a very friendly, clean, recently refurbished hotel - due to the flooding.

The room felt like a flat with a separate hall-way leading to the bathroom/main bedroom.

Nice furniture, although two substantial wooden single beds were pushed together to form a double - apparently this is the norm.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. This hotel is located about fifty yards from the St. Charles Bridge which is perhaps the most visited attraction in Prague. We stayed on the second floor and had a view of a quiet cul-de-sac with the bridge at one end and the entrance to a lovely park at the other end. In between a picturesque area with a large outdoor restaurant, street vendors selling souvenirs and a traditional kiosk selling Prague meat and sausage. The hotel was excellent with an elevator for those requiring it. Our room was big and had all the amenities including a safe. The room and common areas of the hotel were spotless and well maintained. We had booked our room through the internet on a bed and breakfast basis. We enjoyed the restaurant which had a warm cozy feel to it. The breakfast buffet had hot and cold dishes and was certainly substantial. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Second floor overlooking the street has a nice view. Because of its location, the area is quiet at n...
