Having not been to Prague before I was a little bit worried booking a hotel in the so called "Lesser Quarter" or Mala Strana. I needn't have been, the location couldn't be better, right next to The Charles Bridge so with great access to this and all of the other the main tourist attractions, but without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the New or Old town squares. The Mala Strana is far from less worthy than quarters on the other side of the bridge.
We travelled for 4 nights in celebration of our Wedding Anniversary and left our children with their grandparents!
The hotel, being next to the bridge is obviosuly right on the river, situated in an almost Parisian tree lined boulevard, with a lovely park at one end.
We read previous views and took the option of paying a little extra for the "Deluxe" top floor rooms with a rivew view. And what a view it is - right out over Charles Bridge. I believe this added to our experience of the hotel considerably.
The hotel is a decent "boutique" hotel. No real frills, but the decor was nice and modern with a Czech twist. It had a nice cellar restaurant.
The bedroom was large with the typical low light ambience of fairly trendy hotels. Nice big leather sofa and comfy beds (from which that great view of the bridge can be seen). The bathroom was tiny (given how large the bedroom was, we thought this odd) but the all important shower was great. One criticism I would make is that the walls in the bedroom were paper thin. We could hear every word of our neighbours late night (ahem) "conversations"!
The staff were all fine if not amazingly attentive or friendly, but efficient nonetheless. Some people for instance may baulk at having to take their own bags up to their room (I actually prefer to do it myself, if I am being honest).
In terms of cost and what we have paid around Europe, for the best room in a 4* hotel - it was dirt cheap. As on the whole was Prague.
All in - I think you will probably struggle to find a better balance of value, quality and location in Prague.
