“Incredible location for a romantic visit”
Reviewed 23 March 2009

My wife and I hit tripadvisor to plan our fist trip to Prague, and saw the Design Hotel Sax was well-situated and had earned high marks. Based on this we booked one of the Deluxe rooms, and we were not disappointed. The room we got (32) had a nice view of the Lower Town's rooftops and glimpses of the castle. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and we enjoyed the afternoon tea provided by the hotel. We stuck with the complimentary breakfast bar, which drew a bit of eye-rolling--I guess we were supposed to order a hot breakfast but our goal was to maximize our pastry intake.

Wireless LAN and a laptop came with our room--we didn't know about the laptop so that was a pleasant surprise.

Everyone bent over backward to make us feel comfortable, and we greatly enjoyed our stay at the Sax.

We've been to Prague to our honey moon and we've made our choice based on photos from web-syte of hotel. We were afraid that in real life hotel could look a little bit different but result was just awesome. Hotel is situated in centre of the city but the place is very quiet and peaceful. Just in 5 minutes of walking you can reach Charles Bridge and Pragues Tower. Service was perfect. In hotel room was provided laptop so we did not have to bring one with us

We loved the Sax. It was like a time warp with attention to every detail in it's mid century modern design. Very cool.
The rooms were great, location is a bit of a walk up the hill, but very quiet (sometime a rarity in Prague).
Breakfast was superb.

we came to the Sax Hotel for the nice look ofcourse.
Our stay was very good and the staff was realy friendly.
the room was nice and for valentine there was a special gift.
We realy recommand this hotel for those who want to be away from the everyday life and enjoy the silence (and a very good breakfast and afternoon tea).

We really appreciated all the services provided in the hotel: laptop in the room with free internet access, dvd player and dvd's at our disposal.... The room was really beautiful with the 70's style decoration... Tea time is indeed a very good idea, especially during the winter ;-) The breakfast was also really nice, with very tasty and healthy food .... and the Beatles playing as background music! A very good start for the day! Hotel staff was also very friendly. Maybe one of the best value for money hotel we've been to!

Stayed the weekend of the 23rd Feb,and, after the initial hiccup of not having a deluxe room with fantastic views of the old town went down to the receptionistand she happily moved us into the "Best room" no 42. Moved upstairs and had a look around.

Bad points!!
Room was perfect apart from the bathroom where thay had had the bright idea of putting designer wallpaper next to the shower which had started to bubble and peel. And inevitably will turn mouldy!! Also the only other problem with this room was because it was on the top floor and adjacent to the lift shaft all the machinery was mounted above our room which every now and again would jump into action with sounds of humms and hydraulics ! Also, whats with the single duvets on a double bed? Some of the staff came across as being too professional particularly the barman. Whenever you would pop down he would just stand there and lacked and sense of charm and character and the lounge felt quite unwelcoming!!
Finally, the lounge could do with a proper bar and maybe that would encourage people to mingle and subside in this area as when we stayed we probably seen 2 people relaxing in this area the whole time.

Good Points!!
Fantastic Decor.
Lovely view from our room
Shower good
Heating excellent
Beds lovely and comfortable with pillows to die for.
Water on Tabletop is Free!
Spa and Sauna free to use and is private.( you have to book)
Receptionist was very friendly and went out of her way to help!

Highly recommend Ambiente Brasiliero Restaurant, JJ Murphys Pub down the road and avoid Gordon Ramsays Maze restaurant as i caught food poisoning due to undercooked quail!
