My wife and I stayed here for a four night, mid-week break booked through Expedia at the last minute. The hotel is situated on the southern outskirts of Prague, but not too far from city life. Friendly staff on our arrival, all spoke excellent English, and we were escorted to our room on the 4th floor, glad the lift worked. The room was of a high standard, large bed,(2 singles put together), shower room, and seperate w.c. TV in the bedroom, minibar/fridge and a safe. The restaurant was closed, problem with the kitchen we were told, so we ate out at an underground pre-historic themed eaterie just round the corner. Nice comfy bed, no noise, so good nights sleep. Breakfast was really good, served in the restaurant, lotsof choice of both hot and cold food. Bought a travel pass at hotel reception, great way to see the city, feet get a bit sore walking on cobbled streets all day, forget the exact price, but very good value. Restaurant again closed on our return, ate at an italian 150 yards away. On return to hotel on 3rd day found the restaurant open, but had booked a meal in city centre, cant win I thought. At breakfast on day 4 we tried to book evening meal, only to be told there was a prob with the chef,he had quit!
We really enjoyed our stay here, but they need to sort out the evening meal issues, not too bad for us, but other guests had booked on half board basis, they were non too pleased.
Dont let this put you off, food,(and beer), very cheap in Prague, places in hotel vicinity lot better value than the ones in city centre.

We got this hotel as part of a cheap long weekend city break for a New Year treat. It was our first time visiting Czech Rep and we had an excellent time in no small part thanks to the Union Hotel. It is certainly not a luxury joint and when we stayed it was virtually empty, it being mid-winter but it was an honest, down to earth hotel with lovely, friendly staff who were always there to help. Apart from breakfast (totally acceptable) we didn't eat in the restaurant, but that was only because the place was empty so we went out every night. I would happily stay here again and would recommend Prague in January as it was beautiful in the snow and virtually free of other tourists. (I'd also recommend going to see Slavia Praha Ice Hockey team play at the O2 Arena - a cheap and easy afternoon but a top sporting event!)

I stayed 3 nights in Union. Room was big enough. Bed was good enough but only the white sheets were cleaned. The cover was very very dirty so i just took it out. When they cleaned the room, they just made a huge ball with the cover and put it in top of furniture! WC is very bad designed cause you can't shave for example without dropping water to the floor. There is no curtain in bath, so the same problem, everyday the floor is very wet. It was not cleaned, i could see that the previous guest took a dump, and the cover was very used! Door of the room is very very old, as the hotel looks like. This is not a 4 stars hotel, if you look one 4 stars, look further. This is maybe a 3 stars hotel, old with good breakfast. There was also lots of noise in room. first because you are 20 meters from the tram and 30 meters from the train, so forget about sleeping if it disturbs you, second you can hear water coming down from other guests bathrooms. By tram its only 4 stops to center, but by walking it would take 40 minutes.

This is an old hotel and it's very run down. It has some beautifly architectual features, that have not been taken care of. It feels like it's just a matter of time before this hotel looses the little charm it has left.

It is situated far from the center. But due to the incredable and cheap public transportation, this is not an issue, at all! Unfortunetly it is right next to the train tracks and if you are a light sleeper, you will not be able to get any sleep here since the cargo trains pass often.

Breakfast was average. Something new is added every day.

The hotel is quiet and calm and (bearly hanging on to) charming. I would still recomend a different hotel.

The hotel is aproximately 30 minute walk from Old Town, along the river which was a nice stroll. Free Parking was advertised and it consisted of parking across the street from the hotel on the street. The neighborhood is in need of TLC. The rooms were small, clean & comfortable. The staff was friendly enought, with the exception of the serving staff in the restrauant in the evening. But the breakfast was above and beyond expectations.
