The reception, is open from 7am to 7pm only. Has a very small standing area. in the reception. Very poo service and i mean it as my hotel expectations are low, as we are more interested in the city than the hotel. So if you are going out for the day dont bother leaving your key at the reception There is one compter in the lobby with internet connection and has a long que of people waiting to use. (wifi in rooms dont work) Its not a hotel as such but more like a B&B. For a family of four our room and bathroom were very spacious. ..but no fan with temps reaching 31 - 35 while we were there. We requested fan but no one bothered, couldnt open windows as it was extremely noisy: traffic, people and workman starting 7 am. We were there for 5 nights so they had plenty of time to sort the fan out!!!! bed sheets wee not changed for 5 days but charged standard daily rate: how does that work?. bed covers ripped, rug on floor twisted and we kept tripping. Hotel must be good once upon a time but now run down.
Location as such was very good, next to the castle, underground, taxi, tram, 5 min. Charles bridge 5 min. Much nicer and quiter area than the otherside of Charles bridge Breakfast and room sizes were good. Dont really need to take metro, you can walk every where or else you'll miss out. Too many souvinier shops all selling same stuff, similar prices. Good glass shop between McDonalds and charles bridge with very simple entrance and no souviniers outside...cant remember the name but on the same side as McDonalds, (same items twice the price across the road). Unlike England, museum shops are cheaper for postcards and magnets are cheaper. Overall shopping is better on the castle side of the bridge as 90% of tourist hang around bars and restaurants on the other side. Nice restaurants are under the bridge. If you have time hire the paddle boat; 1 hrs is 200 K and worth every penny. Subway does really good coffee, Monastry grounds are good (views breath taking) but not worth going inside: 2 rooms with a video! but its Litrary is nice again too room but you cant go inside., after paying tickets they charge extra 50 k (£2) for taking pictures. Golden Lanes Ok but the best are the churches most of them charge.
Metro,: charged on time time tiket rather than no. of trips 1/2 hr adult 26 K (£1) enough time for few stops, i.e short journey but need to validate time as you enter or you are fined. Every thing has a charge even the toilets, but just walking around you see so much, evry square is unique, evry turn is full of surprise, keep looking up when walking or you'll miss out something , llots and ots of history, very unsuall city .....love it
p.s Airport transfer use aaa taxi or Prague airport transfer 550K with excellent free prague guided tour (hotel one is very expensive 780 k))
