“Superb "boutique" Hotel in a lovely location”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

Just wanted to say that we have been blown away by the level of service and care at the Pod Vezi. It's not very often you find this level of passion and consideration. Location great, rooms well appointed. Agree with other reviews that the bathrooms could do with a bit of an upgrade but the hotel is spotless. Food in the restaurant really was excellent, again with great service. Also, do try the creperie across the road (it is also owned by the hotel) - we had a very tasty and reasonably priced lunch there. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again if we come to Prague in the future. Simply a great hotel in a beautiful city.

The outstanding customer service provided by this hotel began as soon as we emailed the hotel asking about availability. The hotel staff responded quickly, offering us a competitive rate compared to similar rated hotels. The outstanding service continued throughout our stay. It ranged from the driver who picked us up at the airport (arranged by the hotel) to the front desk team and to the Pod Vezi and Creperie restaurant staff. We liked how guests received little "gifts" whether that included discounts in the hotel restaurants or treats left in the room. Our room was in a loft in their second building diagonally across the street from the main hotel. The Lofts were located on the 4th floor. Our room and bathroom were spacious with plenty of room for us to move about comfortably. Since the elevator only went to the 3rd floor, we had to climb the wooden stairs to our floor. We did not find climbing the stairs problematic. The staff helped us to carry our bags up from the elevator to the 4th floor. We also appreciated the basket of umbrellas sitting at the entrances of each building! The free Wi-Fi worked great. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the city. We loved it here, and hope we have a chance to return again.

The hotel is located just next to the Charles Bridge on the more peaceful side of the river. We were upgraded to a better(?) room without extra charge, but the room was in another building across the street. The room was spacious but a little bit spartan, as well as the bathroom. The shower lacked a curtain, so the floor got wet very easily. Wifi was working great and tv had something like 40 channels. Breakfast was pretty average. Staff was really friendly. As a small but nice detail they offered you a free entrance to the bridge tower. At least during low season the hotel had quite good value, mainly due to the location.

This hotel has the perfect location, perfect hotel personnel, perfect restaurant, perfect comfortable beds, not so perfect bathroom….. the bath is very high and you have to get in there to shower!! Okay for fit legs…but if you have a knee injury or are elderly…you have a problem. Apparently the office staff told me at the end of our stay that they have purchased a step for the bath on request…….a bit late! but non the less, I managed, I just would like others to know that they can request this step. Also the mirror steams up and you have to wipe everything down. There is a product that you can buy that prevents this- the hotel should be using this as the bathrooms are small and you can't prevent the room from steaming up. Minor issue I know, but it's just a nice touch when the hotels do this. Really- we loved this place. Just a couple of points that I want to help with.

My wife an I recently spent a few days in Prague and stayed in Suite 24 of the Hotel Pod Vezi. I did a lot of research beforehand and, prior to visiting Prague, thought that the location of the hotel seemed ideal. Having visited and walked to most of the major tourist sites in the city, I couldn't imagine a better located hotel. We split our four days between the Old Town, The Jewish Quarter, The Lesser and The Castle District and many trips over the Charles Bridge. This hotel is right in the middle of all that.

Our room was very comfortable and well appointed with a TV, king bed, safe, minibar, free WiFi, refrigerator, makeup vanity, plenty of storage and seating areas. The lobby was small but entirely welcoming after a long day hiking the streets. The front desk is manned 24 hours a day, which was comforting. We only made it down for the free breakfast once, but it was delicious and well prepared. Our first night we had dinner in the restaurant and were very pleased with the service and food quality.

Certainly the location and room quality make this hotel an excellent choice for your visit to Prague, but the level of service we received during our stay was what really made the difference. When we visited, there were two Martins who took turns manning the front desk. Both were extremely friendly, helpful with restaurant reservations and entirely pleasant and professional. On our final day, our flight left early enough that we would miss the hotel breakfast. The night before, as we were scheduling our wake-up call, Martin recognized this and had a bagged breakfast prepared for us as we left for the airport. Service matters, and the Martins delivered above-and-beyond.

PROS
=========
* Top notch service from the Martins
* Pickup and dropoff to/from airport for an additional charge. Worth it.
* Best possible location for visiting the main tourist areas: Old Town Square, Prague Castle, The Lesser Town, The Charles Bridge and The Jewish Quarter
* Wonderful views from hotel windows
* Free access to the Charles Bridge tower (affording stunning views of the Castle, Old Town and Charles Bridge)
* Grocery store across the street for all your food and liquor needs
* Comfortable, spacious room: I expect smaller when I travel in Europe
* Excellent restaurant for included breakfasts and dinner

CONS
=========
* Wish we could have stayed longer ;)
* We could hear the hussle and bussle on the street below our window. If you are going during peak season, and are prone to be disturbed by talking and laughing pedestrians, perhaps ask for a room not on the street side
* No gym/pool if you are into that, although you'll do plenty of walking, hills and stairs, so who needs that indoor exercise when you have the streets of Prague?

Our short trip to Prague exceeded our expectations: the weather was warmer, the streets were more pedestrian friendly; the sites were more interesting and the hotel location, accommodations and service were fantastic. If you visit Prague, give the Hotel Pod Vezi a look and say "dobrý den" to the Martins for us!

Room Tip: If you are a tourist, the hotel is right in the middle of where you want to be in Prague. Consequent...

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Pod Vezi.
The hotel is located just by the tower at the western end of Carl Bridge, an excellent location.
It takes 10 minutes walk to the heart of the old town, and less than 15 minutes walk to the castle.
It seems like the nice staff at Pod Vezi thought of EVERYTHING for their guests:
They will arrange transportation to and forth the airport, give you a large clean room with free WiFi, spoil you with something sweet in your room every day (!), sell you tickets to the Metro, book tickets to the theatre, and so on.
All the staff we met were very nice, helpful and efficient.
The breakfast was nice, and the place also works as a restaurant at the evening. Guests at the hotel recieve 15% discount in the restaurant.
We HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Pod Vezi, and hope to get back to lovely Prague one day.

Excellent czech cousine. Quite for sure the most exiciting eating experience in Prague. As everywhere in Prague you eat turistic-way, here you find real taste of excellent food. Such experience you'll never forget.
