Everything other reviewers have said is true. The hotel is full of character, small, so the staff treat you as a person and not just a room number. The location is excellent, right by the lesser quarter tower on Charles Bridge, so within 10 minutes walk you can be in the Old Town, so convenience without the noise. We stayed in the annex in a standard room overlooking the tower. The rooms are decorated in a modern style with flat screen TV; tea & coffee making facilites; mini bar, hairdyer and lovely fluffy bathrobes and slippers. The annex has the hotel cafe within the building and the main hotel has the restaurant where breakfast is served. The staff are wonderful, helpful, and friendly, and it is clear they enjoy their jobs. They can book tickets for you for tours, concerts or tickets for trams etc so everything is made easy. We took advantage of the hotel's taxi service to and from the airport, which was very efficient. Travel time was 30 minutes from the airport and 20 going back, but our flights were outside of rush hour traffic. My partner and I are both on gluten-free diets for medical reasons and the hotel catered for us very well, preparing gluten-free rolls for breakfast and on our last day gluten-free pancakes- really yummy. For anyone that is also gluten-free the savoury galettes (crepes) in the cafe are gluten-free, so you can eat those no problem. If you eat in either the cafe or restaurant you get a 15% discount as a hotel guest. Buffet breakfast had plenty of choices including cereals, rolls, cakes, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, ham, cheeses, sausages and porridge, so something for everyone. There is a tram stop about a five minute walk from the hotel in the lesser quarter by the St. Nicholas church where you can go up to the castle as it's quite steep and then it's an easy walk down. Tip- have lunch in the Lobowitz Palace cafe on the terrace for terrific views of the city. They also do a fabulous white hot chocolate drink. Don't bother with the astronomical clock in the old town square- not very exciting, but do go up the town hall tower for great views. We found a great traditional Czech restaurant in the New Town called Svejk U Karla which also has a gluten-free menu so you don't have to miss out on goulash and dumplings. The strawberry fruit dumplings for dessert are a Czech speciality and were really lovely. They even had gluten-free beer called Celia which was really nice. If you like opera, the marionette version of Don Giovanni was funny and really entertaining and something different to do of an evening. All in all had a great break in Prague and can definitely recommend Hotel Pod Vezi as a lovely base to stay.
