“Beautiful Boutique Hotel”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

Everything other reviewers have said is true. The hotel is full of character, small, so the staff treat you as a person and not just a room number. The location is excellent, right by the lesser quarter tower on Charles Bridge, so within 10 minutes walk you can be in the Old Town, so convenience without the noise. We stayed in the annex in a standard room overlooking the tower. The rooms are decorated in a modern style with flat screen TV; tea & coffee making facilites; mini bar, hairdyer and lovely fluffy bathrobes and slippers. The annex has the hotel cafe within the building and the main hotel has the restaurant where breakfast is served. The staff are wonderful, helpful, and friendly, and it is clear they enjoy their jobs. They can book tickets for you for tours, concerts or tickets for trams etc so everything is made easy. We took advantage of the hotel's taxi service to and from the airport, which was very efficient. Travel time was 30 minutes from the airport and 20 going back, but our flights were outside of rush hour traffic. My partner and I are both on gluten-free diets for medical reasons and the hotel catered for us very well, preparing gluten-free rolls for breakfast and on our last day gluten-free pancakes- really yummy. For anyone that is also gluten-free the savoury galettes (crepes) in the cafe are gluten-free, so you can eat those no problem. If you eat in either the cafe or restaurant you get a 15% discount as a hotel guest. Buffet breakfast had plenty of choices including cereals, rolls, cakes, fruit, yoghurt, eggs, ham, cheeses, sausages and porridge, so something for everyone. There is a tram stop about a five minute walk from the hotel in the lesser quarter by the St. Nicholas church where you can go up to the castle as it's quite steep and then it's an easy walk down. Tip- have lunch in the Lobowitz Palace cafe on the terrace for terrific views of the city. They also do a fabulous white hot chocolate drink. Don't bother with the astronomical clock in the old town square- not very exciting, but do go up the town hall tower for great views. We found a great traditional Czech restaurant in the New Town called Svejk U Karla which also has a gluten-free menu so you don't have to miss out on goulash and dumplings. The strawberry fruit dumplings for dessert are a Czech speciality and were really lovely. They even had gluten-free beer called Celia which was really nice. If you like opera, the marionette version of Don Giovanni was funny and really entertaining and something different to do of an evening. All in all had a great break in Prague and can definitely recommend Hotel Pod Vezi as a lovely base to stay.

You couldn't ask for a better location in Prague - just steps away from the Charles Bridge (on the "castle" side), Hotel Pod Vezi was a wonderful hotel. The reception staff were incredibly helpful, kind and polite. Every day, the staff left treats for us in our hotel room. The room we stayed in was enormous and always clean. The breakfast was nice with a good selection. It was fairly easy to get to the hotel via public transportation. Our room was just above a restaurant with outdoor seating, so sometimes we could hear noise from the street, but it wasn't too bad. We also ate at the hotel restaurant (where they give you a discount for being a hotel guest) and the food was very traditional and the portions were LARGE. I can't imagine staying at a better hotel in Prague.

I cannot praise this hotel and its staff highly enough. Superbly positioned just off the western end of the Charles Bridge, it offers great accessibility to the wonders of the fine city of Prague. When you book the hotel service starts with offers of arranging the taxi service and, thereafter, communication is excellent. The hotel itself has old world charm, yet all the facilities one could wish for and our room was large, well appointed, airy and clean. Breakfast included, in the very reasonable price, was buffet style and with a large choice. The hotel has a great restaurant and we can vouch for its quality. I would recommend this hotel unreservedly! Thank you so much!

Room Tip: We had a Classic double on the third floor and it was large, airy and not affected by street noises

I didn't stay at this hotel but I booked it for my wife and her friend. She's been back for 6 days now and is still raving about what a great time she had at an excellent hotel. Many thanks to the staff for making her feel so welcome and well looked after.

Friendly, helpful staff and a perfect location for touring characterise this terrific hotel. Without exception, the staff are obliging in every way. They look happy to be there and do a magnificent job. Our room was splendid - a lovely KS bed, high ceilings, plenty of light from five windows, plush carpets and a roomy sitting area. As an early riser, I appreciated the separate office space, so I could check emails without disturbing my sleeping husband. It was immaculately clean and right in the tourist centre. Free 24-hr wifi, thoughtful little gifts each day to enhance our stay, the offer of breakfast on our first day when we arrived early after a flight from Poland, and an excellent restaurant with discount for hotel guests are memorable. Sound advice from reception staff - who all spoke fluent English - topped it all off, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you, Pod Vezi people.
