“Mediaeval gem in the heart of Prague”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2009

The Hotel Pod Vezi is my favourite hotel in Prague. It is in a mediaeval building at one end of the Charles Bridge. The staff are very friendly and efficient, the rooms are lovely, the breakfast and the restaurant in general are very good and the location is unbeatable, close to public transport and in walking distance of the historic centre. It is expensive and the only drawback is that they don't offer free wifi or other internet access, but there is a cheap internet cafe next door.

Having just returned from spending four nights in this delightful Hotel, I must point out how helpful all the staff were throughout our stay. Its' excellent location and reviews were our deciding factors in choosing this wonderful cosy place, and we couldn't have chosen a better value for money Hotel. The Room we were given was exactly as we had seen on their website, with a lovely view over the Charles Bridge and the cosy Restaurant serves excellent food with a good wine list, especially if assisted by their waiter Martin.
Hope this review helps you in deciding...

My mother and I have just returned from an amazing 3 nights staying at the Pod Vezi. I could not recommend a better hotel in Prague. There was always someone on reception- ready to help with directions, restaurant reviews, bookings etc. The breakfast was fantastic. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and quiet.
The position also was perfect!! Right near the tower and within walking distance of everything.

I almost didn't want to recommend it for fear of more and more people discovering this gem but had to as they were top notch and A+++++

I spent the weekend before last in Prague staying at the Hotel Pod Vezi. Prague was wonderful and this Hotel exceeded my expectations. The room was huge, clean, well appointed, warm and quiet - what more can you ask for? The location is absolutely brilliant - right beside the Charles Bridge so it is very handy for where ever you want to go in central Prague. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was more than you could expect - buffet style choice of the usual continental bits and pieces along with cereals and a cooked breakfast, all fresh and tasty.
I'm trying to give this review some balance by pointing out a failing, but I can't!

I stayed at Hotel Pod Vezi for 6 nights from June 27 through July 3. As a single female traveler, I felt safe. The hotel has 24-hour concierge desk and a security officer is present. The hotel has the best location ever, in Mala Strana, right next to Charles Bridge. It is close to the castle (only about 10 min walk) and the Old Town Square.
The room and the bathroom was cleaned and always made up promptly (as soon as I left in the morning). There is a mini-bar, a TV, a hook-up for your computer, and an A/C. My room, which was the single room, the smallest of them all, was very comfortable. The hotel has 3 stories. There is an elevator for those who have trouble walking up or down the stairs.
The breakfast is included in the rate. It is served in a sunny dining room. There is a great selection of cold cereals, bakery items, breads, vegetables, fruit, juices, cold cuts, cheeses, etc. In addition, you can order hot dishes (eggs any style, French toast, waffles) off the menu at no additional cost. Plus, they make excellent espresso, also included. I had two every morning. The breakfast definitely fortified me for the many excursions (often, I did not eat until early evening).
I would not hesitate to recommend this place. In fact, I already booked a room there and plan to return in December.

  • Liked — location, great breakfast (with vegetarian options), friendly service
  • Disliked — no tea/coffee maker in room, no radio/alarm, fee for pay TV unless you ask to have it blocked

We just spent a week at this place. It is right in the middle of the tourist madness, at the foot of the Charles Bridge, but it is quiet, peaceful, and friendly. In a city that we didn't know at all, it quickly came to feel like home. Our room was enormous, the service was perfect, and the location couldn't be beat, so that's why even though I almost never write reviews I really wanted to put in a word for the Pod Vezi.

The Pod Vezi is a beautiful small hotel, about 12 rooms I think, located right at the foot of the Charles bridge in Mala Stana. Although the Bridge area is packed with tourists, the hotel was still quiet and charming, including very large rooms and modern baths. This location is amazing, and only a few blocks from the tram, and an easy walk up to the Castle district. The staff could not have been more accomodating, the breakfast is lovely. No gym or internet, but that is not the point of this lovely traditional hotel. I would certainly return
