“Grand, Romantic, and Comfortable”
Reviewed 3 December 2011

My husband and I picked this hotel because all the TripAdvisor reviews highly praised it. And we are so pleased that they are 100% correct. The hotel not only meets all our demands but exceeds our expectations. The grand style of the room, with the comfortable bed, makes it also extremely romantic for a couple. Besides, the mini-kitchen and dinning table are very convenient for us, who stayed there for almost a week. Though we had to walk quite a bit from the hotel to other scenic spots, the walk was also romantic, since Prague is such a beautiful city. One should never miss the Castle and its Cathedral with the amazing stain glasses, even though in summer the crowded tourists could be stifling. The only problem is that it's hard to find any air-conditioned cafes or restaurants under the heating sun. The girl at the reception desk recommended the National Museum. What a disappointment! There was not much "national treasure," nor was there any cool air. I suggest the receptionist should be well trained in this respect and know what to recommend to his/her customers.

Dear Madam / Dear Sir

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write this very constructive and detailed review. We are very pleased to hear that you have enjoyed your stay with us, and we hope to welcome you back on your next visit to Prague. I would also like to point out that our reception staff is very knowledgeable when it comes to recommending different sites in Prague and around Prague. National museum is a historical building build in 1818, hence the lack of air-conditioning, building its self is considered a “nation treasure”. Many guests enjoyed the museum as much as I did; it’s a matter of taste as well.

We hope to welcome you back at our hotel in the future.

Kind Regards,

Lucie and colleagues

My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary this month. Everything was perfect, from the airport transfers (thank you Peter, you are great!) to the reception, our room, the restaurant. The location is brilliant, in trendy Mala Strana, very close to the bridge, the castle, shopping and nice places to eat, but also off the beaten path a bit you're not overwhelmed by tourists when you walk out the door!

We had the Anna deluxe room, with a view of the cathedral/castle complex. The room was just right, very warm on cold evenings, a good firm bed, lovely spacious bathroom, and since there were only 2 rooms on our floor (the top floor) it was quiet and peaceful at night.

The staff here were great, and the restaurant staff were really cheeky and fun, they make you feel more like friends than guests here. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone always has a smile for you. I would stay here again, I hope to stay here again in fact.

The Alchymist is a romantic boutique hotel that fits in this baroque city. The hotel is located in a quiet area close to Charles Bridge. We stayed for a week-end in mid November. We had the Archiboldo suite, spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed was so comfortable, it made getting up in the morning a challenge. The large bathroom had practically all brand-new appliances The restaurant dining room itself is worth the trip as the entire room is covered in mirrored glass mosaic. The staff were all friendly and helpful, especially the lovely girl at the front desk (sorry I don’t remember her name) . She made dinner reservations for us, organise the airport transferts, helped us navigate...anything that we wanted and always with a nice smile on her face. We loved our stay here and we will be back.

It seems there is nothing to add to all the wonderful previous reviews. Our experience was no different. The room was wonderful, the staff very helpful, the location excellent (we used the public transportation only once in 4 days!). I will try to add some useful information:
Location- It is easy to walk everywhere but if you have problems walking you don't have many options because you cannot use the public transportation to get to the old town square (the lines from the hotel don't go there, the closest you can get is 10-15 minutes from the square). It took us 25 minutes of leisure walk to arrive from our hotel to the square and 15 minutes to climb to the castle.
Breakfast- The breakfast at the hotel is nice but much over priced. You can have a much cheaper and no less good meal at Bohemia Bagel Lázeňská 19 nearby.
Transfer from airport- It costs 600 CZK with http://www.prague-airport-shuttle.com/ and they are very good and reliable. The hotel wants 800 CZK.
Restaurants- We fell in love with the Italian restaurant Ristorante Carmelita Ujezd 406/31 | Mala Strana, they are inexpensive, have a wide menu, a non smoking floor and the food is delicious! We ate there 3 nights in a row. The restaurant at the hotel is very good but much more expensive (not too much), be prepared for small but very good portions.
To sum up: we loved our experience at this hotel, we recommend it to everyone. Thank you Alchymist for a great holiday!

Room Tip: We stayed in the marie therese junior suite with twin beds. It had no kitchen and it was on the seco...

I visited a while ago, but still have great memory of the hotel. The service was one of the best, answered all of my questions to the best of her abilities. The hotel is a world class romantic one, with all the charm a boutique hotel should offer. Yes, the bed was a very memorable gilded gold four post bed that fits in with the rest of this baroque city. Location is very close to Charles bridge but a bit too quiet at night, the hotel garden across from the hotel is a sight to behold, please try to have breakfast there. Yes its a bit pricey, but so great for a lovely honeymoon.
