“Blissfully Spoiled”
Reviewed 9 October 2012

My wife and I looked forward to our first trip to Prague, and as high as our expectations were, the Alchymist Nosticova far exceeded them.
The staff were professional, personable, competent and warm, from Peter the bellman to Albina the Desk Clerk. The restaurant staff were uniformly helpful, efficient and friendly. (Have dinner one night in the Mirror Room while you are there.) Our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped with linens etc. While guests of the Nosticova have privileges at the Grand Hotel, we were too content in our own hotel to venture up to the other property!
As for location, the neighborhood of the Nosticova is fabulous...a quiet street not too far from St Nicholas church and the Charles Bridge, the neighborhood was clean and safe, with not a hint of crime or graffiti in sight. Our room had peekaboo views of the river over the park at Kampa Island.
From beginning to end, a great stay. How delighted we are to be able to report a perfect visit! Great place for a romantic long weekend!

Room Tip: The Blanka Suite was our room, facing a quiet lane and the greenery of Kampa Island. However, all s...

Luxury hotel in a good location, only minutes from the Charles Bridge. All rooms are different but be aware that design of the building (an old building with rooms off an open staircase with the reception at the bottom) means that noise from guests/staff in the reception can be clearly heard in some of the rooms. The glass partition in the stairwell reduced but did not completely cut out the noise. We stayed in one of the first floor rooms and on two occasions we were woken up by loud voices and laughter from the reception - once at 0745 and then at midnight. My advice would be NOT to stay on the first floor (ie on the floor one level up from the reception) but instead to go for a room on the higher floors. I would have rated the hotel as a 9 out of 10 but the problems with noise from the reception was a definite negative and if you are seeking a quiet room then avoid the first floor.

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor.

Dear Sir, Madam

Thank you for taking the time to post a review we greatly appreciate your comments.

I do apologize about the people noise that might have disturbed you during your stay. We are always highlighted as a very quiet hotel to stay and I can just assume that one of our other guests might have been overly excited when coming back from a wonderful evening in our beautiful city.
For a future visit I would like to assure our guests that we do have 24hrs security and reception that are always ready to assist if they are informed of any disturbance.
We just feel sorry we did not have the chance to fix this simple issue.
Nevertheless we hope to see you again and have the pleasure to welcome you back to The Alchymist Residence Nosticova.

With kind regards,

Lucie Nizka

I visited Prague for a long romantic weekend and this hotel did not disappoint. The room has wonderful period furniture, breakfast was nice if a little inconsistent (different set up each day) and the hotel is wonderfully central with great restaurants around the corner but in an area devoid of stag dos. You also get to use the spa at the main alchymist hotel free of charge, which has a good sauna and a small pool and is very relaxing. One negative is the soundproofing in the hotel, so there is noise from the street. Usually not a problem, but we were staying in a room close to the entrance so I was woken up a couple of times by guests arriving late at night. I would also have liked to see tea making facilities in the room and water provided. Overall a very pleasant experience though.

From the moment we checked in to this hotel we were treated like Royalty. The staff here are amazing! The Junior Suite we stayed in was very large and incredibly comfortable. Location is perfect, within walking distance of all the sights. We also took the time and ate in their restaurant which I would highly recommend. Definitely plan on a return trip.

Another great find provided by Tripadvisor. We stayed here with friends for three nights. It was wonderful. You cannot say enough about the staff, they exceed expectations. The location is minutes from the Charles Bridge and old town. Check first through their web page as they offer many great packages. Our included free pickup at the airport (or train station), welcome drink, free internet, and free breakfast. The breakfast was super. You are offered freshly prepared hot options besides the nice assortment of buffet items. We ate at their restaurant one night and it was very good. Also please visit their sister hotel, the Grand Alchemist. You can use their spa facilities and they have a very nice wine and cheese tasking between 5 - 6 PM that you can partake it. This is a real value and one that we would return to again.

This hotel has to be one of the most charming I have stayed in for decades. From the moment you are greeted in the street you are made to feel special. A glass of champagne while you check in. As it was my birthday we got an upgrade and a bottle of champagne in our suite with a birthday message! Albina was so helpful in explaining places to visit in town. Peter was extremely correct. A few grappas with Alexis in the bar before retiring turned out to be a hoot. We could have stayed in the bar all night!
Breakfast was excellent. We were very sad to leave this luxurious yet very cozy hotel. We will be back!!

My fiance and I stayed at the Alchymist Residence Nosticova in November 2011 and I have been meaning to write this review ever since. We only stayed for one night as we travelled to Prague to attend a friend's wedding outside of the City. One night was definitely not long enough and we will definitely look to return again when we have more time to spare.

You can expect an exceptionally friendly welcome at this Hotel where nothing appears to be too much trouble. We arrived earlier than planned but there was absolutely no issue and we were shown to our room immediately, provided with a well received complimentary drink (delivered to our room) and given advice on the City (as it was also our first time in Prague).

The Hotel can only be described as beautiful and I can definitely say I did not want to leave. As we were meeting up with friends we did not dine in the Restaurant but did have breakfast the following day. The Restaurant even at breakfast time radiates a quirky warmth.

This is a must stay hotel and clearly deserves the excellent reviews it receives. Certainly featuring in our list of Top 10 hotels in the World!
