“Near Wenceslas Square and Old Town”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

The hotel has a great location near the sights of Prague. It has nice restaurants, supermarkets, a mall, tram station and a metro station in walking distance. There is a KFC too if you feel like it. The castle is a bit far away to walk, but easily doable with taxi. Taxis overcharge a lot in Prague, so be careful. There are newer hotels adjacent to this one, but charge correspondingly more.
The rooms are nice and we had a large triple room due to our need for a baby cot. The breakfast has a varied selection and is well worth it. The common areas and hallways are somewhat dated and have a creepy feel! There is no street noise, though the trams do rumble past and may cause a subtle rattle, but it did not disturb us. The area is safe and the staff friendly.

Room Tip: Triple rooms are large and airy.

The hotel itself is very nice. Comfortable, breakfast was included, they exchanged currency for me, they have a bar (which is quiet), they have a computer for use and printing available (nice for boarding passes). The wifi worked well in the lobby but NOT in our room. If you stood at the door, you could get a signal, but otherwise not. Sometimes we even went in the hallway to get a signal. Maybe it was just the 4th floor, maybe it was just our side of the hallway, but it was disappointing especially since that was our only way to communicate with people back home. But the room and bathroom were nice and big, I don't think they had air conditioning, which was fine for us because it wasn't super hot when we were there, but I imagine if it's more normal summer Prague weather it would have been uncomfortable. Good location, also.

Room Tip: 4th floor wi-fi was bad

Location is very good, staff can be very formal, the atmosphere of a typical East-European country 80s spirit hotel, the accommodation is OK,the only thing i would find not so comfortable would be that you can't control the heater temperature inside the room, either to switch it off or to leave it on and stand its extreme heat,as they seem to adjust it centrally on very warm temperature, beside that all can be considered ok for the stay

Room Tip: All rooms seem to be average and equal in quality

I’m baffled to see so many 4-5 stars ratings for this hotel. That was the reason we booked it, but we should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews. Let me make it clear that Hotel Atlantic reach a 3 rating from me only because of the great staff and location.

THE ROOM. We arrived early (10 am) but got our room immediately. Room key, not a keycard, so you’ll have the annoyance of sometimes having to wait to get your key in the reception each time you come back from the city. It turned out to be a giant room (approx. 25 sqm), large bathroom and hallway. I don’t think many rooms are this big in the hotel though. Giant wardrobe to store clothes and luggage across one wall. There was a flat screen 32” Hitachi TV, safety box (on the small side), but no A/C, no minibar or fridge. It wasn’t so hot during our stay that this was a problem. A desk, 3 chairs, two(!) 3-seat sofas and of course the beds. The standard was a bit so-so, perhaps dating back 20 years or so. The Wifi was a bit dodgy in our room but worked ok for the most time. Our room faced an inner yard of the hotel and that was good! The trams make a LOT of noise if you’re facing the street! The room: 3 of 5 (mainly because of the space!)

THE BEDS were NOT good with a thick foam mattress placed on a flat surface. This caused the mattress to move around during the night. Sleep quality: 1,5 of 5.

THE BATHROOM was the best thing about the room. Big and with a real shower, not a silly bathtub, good water pressure and plenty of hot water. I had to fix the shower handle holder myself as it had become loose. Some moisture damage in the roof was the only let down in the bathroom. Bathroom standard: 4 of 5.

THE BREAKFAST. This is absolutely the most disappointing thing about the hotel if you’re not into eating fattening leftovers of pasta, sausage, bacon and risotto-like mixtures. Coffee was horrible, the sparse selection of cheese, ham and salami had absolutely no taste and were often a bit dry on the sides. The breakfast room is itself is like an old east European dinner hall with high ceiling, wooden benches and “functional” chairs. It was like being thrown back to the 70s. The staff was good though. This and a small hotel in Paris still ranks as the worst hotel breakfast experience of my life so far. Breakfast: Only 1 of 5

STAFF & SERVICE were very good. They’ll help you with most things like stamps, transport tickets. just ask! The Mojito in the bar was also excellent! The staff get a 4 of 5 rating.

LOCATION. Busy area means that the rooms facing the street probably suffer from noises of the trams passing. There’s a 3 min walk to the Metro and a lot of trams and buses pass by on the street. ATM across the street. 10 min walk to Old Town square, another 10 min to get to the Charles bridge. Palladium, a giant fancy mall with 200 stores, is 2 minutes away. Lidl and Billa supermarkets only a couple of hundred meters from the hotel. Location: 4 of 5

Room Tip: Get a room facing the back or the inner yard. Don't pay extra for breakfast unless included, go...

Just returned from 7 nights in this hotel and could not fault it. Hotel was spotlessly clean and all the front desk staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of food and location to the old town and all the main sights could not be faulted. If I had to make a negative comment it would only be that there are no fridges in the rooms. Other than that I enjoyed my stay here very much and would not hesitate to stay here again if returning to Prague.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

This hotel is in a great location to discover Prague. All the major tourist sites are within walking distance and on the same street there is a tram stop and a metro stop if your feet get tired from all the walking. 2 mins walk from the hotel is a Huge shopping mall with all the shops you could wish for and there restaurants and grocery stores in close proximity also.
We had a double room which was a great size with a modern bathroom, the rooms were well maintained and cleaned daily.
We had the bed and breakfast option and the breakfast is served in a hot and cold buffet style in the restaurant on site. There was a good variety of food to choose from all of which was of good quality so it was easy to fill up for a busy day of sightseeing.
All in all this hotel offers a good location, large clean rooms and good food at a great value price. If your happy with 3 star european accommodation then you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Trams do run on street outside hotel so front facing rooms could be noisier?

Clean and friendly with really comfy beds for tired tourists. As a group of 6 ladies we found the Atlantic was very central and within easy walking distance of all the main attractions, big shopping centre a few doors up and plenty of nice restaurants within a few minutes from hotel.
Hotel breakfast had a wide selection of choices, whether you wanted cake, risotto, stew or just a boiled egg and toast the choice was there. This was our second trip to Prague (first one 9years ago) and although we have had many city breaks in between this one offered the best breakfast.
It was a very warm weekend at the end of May and our rooms were at the front of the hotel looking on to the street and tram line and it was too noisy to leave the windows open at night, so we ended up wishing we had air con. However that would not stop us visiting this hotel again

Room Tip: Ask for room at back of hotel as front too noisy
