“Modern hotel but a little lacking in character”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2013

The hotel was good but overall we thought it was a bit soulless.
Our room was large and comfortable but the rest of the hotel was modern but fairly bland.
The breakfasts were good and the location is OK for access into Prague albeit that you have to walk under a flyover that isn't very well lit.
Good views from the top of the hotel via an internal funicular system

The NH Hotel, part of a large international chain, is a refabbed Moevenpick hotel, very modern, very tastefully designed, located at the end of a major traffic tunnel, which makes it easy to get to and from the airport. Of the many hotels I've stayed in in Prague, this one most nearly approximates the level of service you expect in a well-run hotel in Western Europe or North America. I was there on business, so didn't spend much time in the hotel itself, except for a quiet after hours bar on the main floor. The breakfast is better than average for Prague, with lots of choices. The restaurant and outdoor terraces look classy, but I can't vouch for the food or service. My room was spacious, with a flat-screen TV and a good working area with a fast WiFi connection. The bed was comfortable but, like most Czech hotels, a "double bed" means two singles pushed together, so bear that in mind. The hotel seems to cater to large groups, but it would work for individual business travelers, especially if they had business in Smíchov, Prague 5, where the hotel is located. My only quibble, and probably the reason I would not go back, is the location: it's a five minute walk, through a bus depot and under a bridge, to Anděl, a major intersection with shopping malls and restaurants, and good tram and Metro connections to the rest of Prague. You could take a cab from the hotel, of course, but the taxi tariffs posted in the lobby are insanely high, and you'd do better to call a cab on your own (I recommend AAA -- dial 14-0-14; they have service in English, and will SMS you the cab number and its ETA). If you decide to use public transport (and the Prague system is excellent) I recommend buying a 3-day public transit pass at the airport when you land. The period of validity begins the moment you stamp the ticket on your first tram or Metro ride; and after that, you just get on and off as you feel like it and the city is your oyster. It costs 310 crowns, or about $15.

Rooms were clean, staff friendly. I did inform them that their coffee pot plug was not working and expected them to fix it....I was dreaming. View - not from my room. You must take the lift to the top. Food - expensive for what you get. Forget doing your laundry there ($$$$). Hotel not located near town- cost about $15.00 for taxi - more if you use the hotels transportation. If you sign up for the hop-on-hop-off tour - don't take the red bus...it does not stop at they hotel. The Prague tour Hop-on-hop-off does - it will save you $$$. The hotel price is okay - you just pay for the rest (food, laundry, taxi). Breakfast - get the room with breakfast included - it's worth it and very good.

Room Tip: Can't think of any tips to give you concerning rooms

Beautiful, clean, unique, easy access, lift system that takes you up the mountain very nice detail.
Been there 2007 July. Don't know about the prices as we booked as a group of 30 people. A very modern hotel with a different design than most others, we liked it a lot.

The hotel is proper for you if you prefer not to be in downtown, close to all the attractions, bars and so on (a metro station is very close, but if you prefer walking sometime, it's about one hour walk to the Hradcany castle).. When we stayed there in July 2010 (it was called Moevenpick back then), the hotel was quiet, clean, and charming with the cable car going up and down between the 2 buildings. Our room was in the executive building, the upper one that is surrounded by a lovely park. We had asked for a room there seeking for quietness, and it was indeed very quiet. The rooms were very clean, the staff very polite, and the breakfast was rich with plenty of things to choose from. All in all, it's a very nice place to return from the hustle and bustle. Also, be aware that if you book like 3 months in advance they may give you an important discount, at least this was the case then.

Room Tip: we liked very much the upper building (the executive building) that involved going up and down with...

Last weekend I could enjoy the atmosphere of the NH Prague. I took part in a small private company meetings. I visited only conference room, lobby bar and the restaurant for lunch but my experience is definite. Just one word - a professionalism everywhere. All needy was at your fingertips - AV, free Wi-Fi, a refreshments, visible signs to be quickly oriented, disposed staff and with this friendliness. What more do you need to have a quiet dealings? Although our meetings were not large, we were accorded the same attention as they were.Thank you NH Prague!
