For something out of the usual close to the Old Town this is a good choice. The rooms are cabins so on the small side, but how long do you want to spend in your hotel room?

Continental breakfast is sufficient, the evening meal choice is OK as well. Staff are great, as with many ex eastern block they appear unfriendly unless you make the first move.

Great views over the river. Good for access to the city, and great value for money.

dont believe the bad reviews, stayed at the albatros and was surprised at just how good it was,v.clean tidy, helpful staff, great bar and breakfast.ok so the rooms are small but you are on a boat, bed was v.comfy and easy to sleep in,the shower the most powerful ive ever had in any hotel and the water always hot.
the centre of prague just a 5-10 min walk away, and the best chinese restaurant ive ever eaten in opposite the palladium by the taxi rank hidden away in the corner, just wish i could remember its name lol but the food was just amazing.
prague itself a beautiful and historic city v.cheap beer though everything else a little pricey

Good location. Rooms very small. Bathroom/shower extremely small. Bartender efficient and nice. Breakfast louzy. Receptionists never presented a smile and could not care less about your questions. Worst service ever.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay for which we paid just over £100 in total. Our room/cabin was small but perfectly adequate with comfortable beds and ample wardrobe and storage space. The bathroom was tiny but the shower was powerful and the water hot. On the whole we found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The bar has views of the river and prices are reasonable. The only real drawback for us was the smoky atmosphere. We are now so used to no smoking in public places that it came as a bit of a shock to find smoking in bars and restaurants - the Albatros is not alone in this. Everywhere we went in Prague we struggled to find non-smoking sections. The Albatros has an ideal location, close to tramstops and within easy walking distance of the Charles Bridge and the Old Town. Highly recommended, if you're not looking for something luxurious. It's a novelty to stay on a Botel! If you're looking for something more upmarket we liked the look of the Botel Florentina, next to where you can do a 1hr boat trip - also to be recommended.

We got the Albatross as part of a "cheap" package so we were not expecting 5* luxury.
All public areas are of very good standard with good decor and clean and tidy, reception staff didnt "seem" over friendly but helped with all our quiries. The room was on the small side and looked like a 70's caravan, rather shabby and tired l would say in need of a revamp, but it was clean and tidy . The most disapionting bit for me was breakfast, cereal?,cheese, bread, cheese, ham, and more cheese the tea and coffee were pretty grim to.
Botel is a 20min stroll to town center and being on river is nice, if you just want a good base then the Albatross is ideal . No real complaints was expecting "cheap &cheerfull" and thats what we got

We have just got back from a 2 night stay at the Botel Albatros. The location is ok. Not as close to the town as I hoped, but we managed to walk to most of the main attractions! The rooms are very basic and small (about what you would expect for cabins) and are in pretty poor condition. The bathrooms are tiny, but at least the shower was hot and powerful, which is really what you need! The restaurant and bar upstairs are in very good condition, and the bar especially makes a lovely location for a quiet drink. The breakfast wasn't great, no fruit, just lots of bread, ham and cheese! The staff aren't particularly friendly, however, are efficient when it comes to ordering taxis, replying to emails, etc. I would def recommend requesting a riverside room, as rooms on the harbour/street side would probably be very noisy. We also took up the hotel transfer service, which was very good - we were picked up in a brand new merc! I would recommend the Botel Albatros for travellers who don't intend on spending much time in their rooms and are on a budget. However, if you are looking for a bit of luxury or class... look elsewhere!

I'm literally just back from Botel Albatross, having woken up there this morning. I liked it, and staying on a boat was a novelty. The rooms are fairly spartan, but if that means not having naff prints of Charles Bridge bolted to the walls then so much the better.
I booked a single and got a reasonably roomy double, on the river side (the even numbered rooms) as I requested. How many other places can you stay where you can pick up a roll at breakfast and feed the swans out of your bedroom window? The river side is also marvellously quiet. I also got a bargain rate (4 nights for the already low price of 3) by booking through the Czech agency www.marys.cz - worth a go.
The rooms are spotlessly clean and the st6aff, though I didn't really have anything more to do with them than picking up and dropping off my key, seemed perfectly pleasant and amenable. The breakfast was fine; the coffee was rubbish but it always is at cheap hotels, but the breakfast lounge which also serves as the bar and restaurant (though I didn't try it in the evening) is very handsome.
Worst bit:
The location isn't at all handy for the metro, though buses run along the river bank from Staromestska.
The beds are quite uncomfortable - thin, unsprung mattresses on solid wooden bases
Best bit:
Price
Very quiet (on the river side at least)
Waking up and seeing 20 or more swans glide right past my window.
