Residence Select Prague
Ranked #366 of 646 Hotels in Prague
Reviewed 16 July 2013

In June 2013, we had a stag do in Prague. There was 12 of us, all male, and all 23/24 years old. The best man booked us into the Residence Select Hotel. The hotel had all the basic amenities that we needed. Decent sized rooms, air con, plenty of storage space, good en suite bathrooms with excellent showers, comfortable beds, and within walking distance of a taxi rank, shops, bars and restaurants. We stayed for 4 days, and in that time, because of the value we used taxis fairly often, but it was possible to walk into the 'Old Town Square' within around 30-40 minutes. However a taxi between 4 people would only cost 300crk ( approx. £2.50 per person ). The continental breakfast was basic but very good for the price of our stay, and the staff all spoke excellent English and were extremely friendly. Although we kept our rooms tidy anyway, the staff cleaned and tidied them each morning. We are all very happy with our stay. Highly recommend it.

Room Tip: All the rooms were similar but I would advice to aim for a higher floor, because the large open wind...

Taking in previous reviews, three key points are worth mentioning. 1. It was worth requesting a courtyard room - it was quiet with a lovely view. 2. The staff keep themselves to themselves, however if you do help, they are fine. The one exception being the request to change a light bulb which did not happen. 3. Some have winged about the breakfast - I can not believe these folk sit down to enjoy what was on offer at this hotel. Three cereals, sliced bread, whole loaf, fruit loaf, donuts, boiled eggs, two meats, two cheeses, pâté, two jams, honey, coffee, chocolate, teas, many fruit teas. I like my grub and was more than happy. It is a great location for walking in one direction for the squares or the other to head for the river. The trams and metro is only a very short walk. There is a bar/restaurant across the road to the right which has a small uninspiring wooden door and sign which leads down a narrow corridor. The beer choices and local food menu is superb and must not be missed. I can recommend the zoo which you can get to by tram and bus, a fantastic well laid out facility. I love Prague. Enjoy!

The hotel is quite OK. It's located within a walking distance from main tourists sights, but there you won't have noisy drunk tourists crowd outside your window at night.
Staff polite and friendly rooms are nice and clean. The kitchenette is quite a nice idea, especially when you are tired after a long day and don't want to go out seeking just another restaurant.

I have been staying in several hotels across Europe and Africa. This has by far been the worst! The first problem that I have is, as I am currently sitting in the room and it is suppose to be smoke free, the passages are all smoking sections. Our room reeks of smoke from the guests smoking in the passage. Also, I can hear absolutely everything the guests next door say and do...it is 23:46 and they are making such a racket that I think it would be quieter to go sleep outside next to the traffic. The kitchenette is a clever designed closet, however, once you open the door I think even vomit smells better. Breakfast has also been really shocking, with too few really small tables to accommodate a hotel of 5 floors. The food is definitely moderate, not much can be said about it, but I have to note that the filter coffee machine runs on instant coffee. I think that the tented safari in Kenya a couple of years ago could be rated higher that this hotel...

This hotel is not one of the best ive stayed at.The staff were friendly and very helpful all spoke english except the male who seemed a bit put out when asked for two coffees.Room was large and had a kitchenette for making meals tea etc. Also the rooms were very noisy (tvs) and didn help if you have a group of lads next door. But once they were asked to b quiet they obliged The breakfast is what we expected and they do need another toaster. Two pieces at a time and people waiting. The hotel is about 10/15 minutes from the squares and longer in the snow.Which is what we had,But this made the trip even better making the visit to the Old square one of those Kodak moments a massive tree.market ,church and carraiges being pulled by horses,Amazing

Room Tip: We had a room at the fron.Traffic most of the night ,,,,,choose one at the rear. Also take your own t...

Pretty basic hotel, large room, but has a hostel feel to it. Location is a bit far for a walk from the main attractions (20 min to old town), but close to the #22 tram that some call a tourist tram - it goes all the way across the river and up the hill to the castle. Internet is free and works in the room. Breakfast is basic - bread, ham and cheese, one or two cereals, yogurt, boiled eggs, and coffee that tastes like an instant coffee. Overall a good value but if you can spend a bit more, find a more centrally located accommodation.

Good and bad points. Location 15 minutes walk to old town. Had specifically requested at time of booking for room facing courtyard, but didnt get that, room given by grumpy rude man was on the first floor facing main room, it's a busy road none of us slept that night, police sirens, ambulance and car noise. We had booked 6 nights here so ist thing next morning at 7am went to request another room facing courtyard, luckily lady at the desk was friendly and helpful and we managed to get a room on the top floor with the courtyard view, so much better, absolutely quiet and got great sleep. Beds comfortable, kitchenette, dated tv, basic room but that's what we wanted anyway didn't spend lots of time in the room, we were out after breakfast till 10pm most days. Breakfast basic, no hot cooked food, had boiled eggs, cheese, yogurt, lots of pastries, bread rolls, cereal, butter, jam, tea and coffee, juice(not fresh) we were fine with that. Location again good point, tesco 5 minute walk to pick up bits. Ps no Internet on the fifth floor, but did have it in the room we spent on the first night ie ist floor. Overall I would say good value for money. Make sure you insist on room facing back, ie courtyard. Nightmare otherwise

Room Tip: 5th floor courtyard view Room 501 was good
