“Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2006

Visited this hotel 18 months ago and was impressed. Rooms were comfortable, spacious and equipped with kettle, hob and cutlery. Staff were friendly and courteous, continental breakfast was served in a plain but clean room and there was plenty breakfast options to choose from. Only negative point - hotel situated quite a walk from centre of Prague, but on a dry and bright day, this was no problem. Would recommend.

After staying at the hotel for a week we must say that it was a pleasant stay for a nice price. The rooms are very spacious; the staffs are friendly and English speaking. Just ask for any help, and they will do their best. How noisy the rooms towards the road are, I don't know, but the room we had towards the backyard was quiet (beside some very distance city sounds and the lady upstairs with high heels). I believe the rooms towards the road are ok. Kitchenette was nice and was basically equipped, it was real bonuses to have the opportunity make some coffee, prepare easy food or chill down some "drinks”. The breakfast was standard and covered most needs, but could be a little boring if you are having a long term stay. Our room was very clean. The cleaning lady did a good job. The bathroom had towel heater, and the shower was nice. The TV was small and had only two English speaking channels, but hey, TV can you watch home! TV was free of charge and had CNN and Eurosport) Internet computer was offered free of charge beside the entrance. The Prague Post was found in the lobby, witch informs about what is happening in the town from week to week.

It's within walking distance of the main attractions, but we ended up taking the tram or the user friendly underground witch had 2 different underground line and stations nearby. I strongly recommend a 3 or 7 day ticket witch works on all public transportation for just 200-300 koruna. The police station nearby seems very quiet and safe to have there. The districts in the area were nice with spread restaurants, bars, interior, other hotels, very small food stores, and so on. Not the typical tourist area, but you want get that ripped of like the guys in the middle of the town.

In total this was a nice hotel witch we would like to use again next time we’re in town!

We were extremely please with our experience at the Residence Select. We read online prior to our stay that there is a busy road situated in front of the hotel, so we requested and received a room away from the street. The view was of another building, but we did not expect anything else. The rooms are HUGE for what we paid (about $80 USD/night) and the kitchenette was very handy. The bathrooms are large as well. Our only complaint would be that we had two twin beds pushed together instead of a full or queen bed, but we survived! Also, satellite TV sounds more luxurious than it actually is, as still only had about 10 channels!

The fact that there is a police station next door was irrelevant, and we would not have noticed if there were not police cars outside. The staff was wonderful and extremely accommodating. One night we were up late planning the rest of the trip on the free internet service in the small conference room (also very handy) and the man at the front desk helped us order pizza!!! He then made sure that we had plates, napkins, and silverware for our takeout pizza, and provided excellent dinner conversation about Prague and other European cities! The entire staff spoke some English, which was much appreciated.

The location was okay, and required a short walk to the nearest metro station where you could take a train all over the city.

Overall, for the price this was an outstanding hotel, and we would definitely stay there again.

we booked this hotel based on Tripadvisors comments, but were very surprised that no one mentioned the fact that about 2/3 of the rooms are on a very noisy streetside (one of the main 4-lane roads in the new city center, with heavy bus and car traffic); and while most hotels in the same area have 2 double windows, our room only had 1 old window - ideal for a bad sleep; moreover, don't believe information found on some sites that parking your car in the street is possible in this area; a parking place is rare and/or expensive in the center of Prague, unless your hotel provides one; I strongly recommend to check in advance with the hotel for a room on the back side and a parking if needed; apart from that, the rooms are indeed very spacious, personnel is friendly (they were helpfull to change our room after 1 night and getting parking in another hotel for about 11 EUR/night), breakfast is ok, and the location is ideal to start a walk to all the city highlights

We stayed in this hotel during April 2005, and really enjoyed it.

The staff were extremely friendly and informative, and the room was very large with good quality facilities. It was also very clean. Breakfast was basic but perfectly adequate for our needs.

The thing that made this hotel special was that the staff discovered it was my birthday during the stay and left a bottle of Czech 'champagne' in my room - and very nice and thoughtful touch!

I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

If you are going to Prague and can't afford the hotels around the Charles Bridge or they're all booked, the Residence Select Hotel is very nice three star hotel. It is a walkable distance to the Charles Bridge but a little far for most people. It is however, only two blocks away from a metro stop and a few blocks up from the river. The room with twin beds pushed together had a refrigerator, sink and a minibar in an enclosed cabinet. The staff were very friendly and spoke english fairly well.

My husband and I just returned from a trip to several Eastern European countries and had really had a difficult time finding a reasonably priced hotel in Prague when we were planning our trip in January. I found the Residence Select on Trip Advisor and was so glad that I did! The hotel is not located in the old city area, but it is just a couple of blocks to the subway and tram stops. We could actually walk to the top of Wenceslas Square in about fifteen minutes if we wanted to. As been said before, the presence of the police station next door made us feel very comfortable when we were returning to the hotel at night. However, don't interpret that to mean it was located in a dangerous area because that was not the case!
The rooms were very modern with a wonderful little kitchenette, modern furniture and bath and lots of space! The staff was very helpful, and the breakfast was quite nice and served in a very cheery and nicely decorated breakfast room. All in all, this was an excellent hotel and one that we would stay in again. The price was better than any others we researched and was well worth the short distance we had to go to be in the center of the city.
