“Has character and a great value”
Reviewed 25 September 2009

Hotel Anna is located in the Vinohrady area of Prague which is much quieter and subdued than some of the more touristy areas. This provides visitors a more local feel to the city. Public transportation is only a 5-10 minute walk and Wenceslas Square a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. The Anna Hotel is a great value as we pre-paid our stay and garnered a decent discount. Rates include a pretty good breakfast that consists of typical European fare of cold cuts, a variety of breads, jams/jellies, cheeses, pastries, yogurt, cereals, juice, coffee/tea, and eggs. Found the breakfast to be very tasteful and satisfying. Only complaint is that on several occasions towards the end of the serving time they ran out of several items (pastries and yogurt) and never replenished them.

The hotel is a small boutique style venue with a friendly and helpful bi-lingual staff. The room is larger than most European hotels with ample closet/drawer space, a safe and air conditioning. The bathroom had a nice tub/shower combination with strong pressure and plenty of hot water. The only knock is that the bathroom amenities were rather sparse. The shower gel/shampoo come in small plastic tear-away packets which we found cumbersome to open and the quantity of the gel was quite meager which required using a number of packets to lather up. A better idea would be to provide dispensers in the shower area for these products. The bed was very comfortable, save for the pillow which was large but very flat and not fluffy. Nonetheless, we considered these minor inconveniences and it did not detract from our positive experience at the hotel.

The room itself, as well as the hotel in general, is very clean and well maintained and housekeeping was always completed in a timely manner. There is a computer room located downstairs from the reception area which you need to obtain a key from reception to gain access. Since there is only one computer, at times it was difficult to access this room as there is no set time limit for its use and some guests utilized the computer for extended periods.

There are several very good local restaurants in the area serving traditional Czech meals. It was a great experience dining with locals and being part of their environment - not to mention the excellent food and reasonable prices.

In summary, we found the Anna Hotel to be very quiet, comfortable, clean, and a good value. No, it’s not the Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons, but it has a great deal of local character to it coupled with an efficient, friendly, helpful, and bi-lingual staff. For anyone seeking a small boutique style hotel away from the tourist areas this is a great venue and I highly recommended it.

This hotel was good value for money in all respects. Being out of centre meant we found good places to eat frequented by locals (especially recommend Simon's restaurant on the same street). Easy and cheap access to the centre of town by tram or metro. Delighted!

Nice clean hotel in a good location. Staff very friendly. Breakfast area a little 'tight' for space. Woken on 2 nights by noisy revellers outside in early hours, even on the 5th Floor!

Fell like a local when visiting Prague, and stay in the Anna Hotel in Vinohrady district.

Good location, 5 min walk from Náměstí Míru subway station. Don’t be put off by that it’s a very calm and quiet area and feels very secure even at night.

It’s in the Vinohrady district, a beautiful residential area of Prague., and it’s well worth a visit (http://www.myczechrepublic.com/prague/sightseeing/vinohrady.html)

In my opinion, an unbeatable deal, a double room with private bathroom, a view to the street and includes breakfast, for 42€/night!!

I’ve stayed in the 3rd floor and it as a small lift that did the job.

If you arrive before check in as we did, they have a luggage room, where you can keep your things, and go on to explore beautiful Prague.

A wonderful breakfast in a terrace, with all you need, several types of bread, meat, cereals, even fried eggs e sausages, for who is in the mood for that early in morning!

And the breakfast never ends out until 10 a.m., because there is a lady (I don’t remember her name), that is always refilling things!

Being a residential district, you only see locals, and you can do like them and shopping in one of the three remaining historic market halls in Prague. The interior is now taken up by an upscale shopping center, the Pavilion, that includes the Albert Supermarket.

It´s quiet, well located and it still has the charm of a small hotel… well they do make a part of the Small Charming Hotels of Prague!

See the pictures and make you decision, but for me, whenever in Prague, I will stay in Anna Hotel.

Arrived at prague approx 9.45 after an extremely smooth flight with easyjet. We were met at the airport by a lovely lady prebooked via the hotel who soon delivered us to the Anna. Booked in with a warm friendly receptionist room on 5th floor so a trip in the infamous lift was undertaken. No problem , great room quick unpack and its back down to reception to see if she could recomend an eatery at this late hour. We were duly sent to CHUBODA where we had a first class czech meal and a few pilsners for not a lot of outlay!!Easy to get to and we split our mealtimes between there and U.BULINU approx 150 metres from the hotel. BOTH THESE ESTABLISHMENTS ARE GREAT!! Breakfast in the conservatory was excellent, all staff were polite and willing to go the extra mile in feeding the masses, great fun was had in watching our bavarian friends loading their bags with meats, cheeses , jams, bread , fruit, when the lady serving was looking the other way!!!To sum up, we found the Anna superb and a truly great experience in every way!!!

The old addage of 'you get what you pay for' is complete hogwash as this hotel will attest. We planned to more than twice the cost of staying here until I discovered it on Tripadvisor.

This is a well run, low cost hotel in an interesting neighbourhood. The lift is compact and the rooms are not palatial but at £50 per night for two including breakfast (on Expedia) what would you expect. Staff are helpful, though often very busy and the building has character. Don't choose an upper floor unless you want to be under the eaves. Bathrooms are large and well kept. The breakfast room is very pleasant if you get there early, slightly too busy later in the morning. Fair breakfast - I didn't like the eggs much but the rest was fine.

Being out of the old town the streets are much calmer. Don't be put off by the occasional sex shop this is a family friendly locale. Fairly good Pizzeria Grasssetto, slightly surly staff, but my recommendation for restaurants would be U Bilinu at the end of the street - friendly and very cheap, good food and latish bar. There are a number of other restuarants nearby but you have to brave the smoke.

Only 2 stops on the metro to town but better ro catch the tram .

Hotel Anna is a reasonably priced three-star hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. Takes about 10-15 minutes of tram or metro to get to town centre but not far away. Good eateries around and one pub underneath the hotel. About 70 euros for a triple room.
