We picked this hotel based on the reviews on tripadvisor and availability - as we decided last minute for a Prague trip.

We booked 2 rooms - one Deluxe and one Superior room. Fruit and praline were waiting for us in the room.

It is a historic, intimate and romantic place with the stunning view of Prague.
Although hotel is small and was full at the time of our stay, it was so quite and relaxing.
We really felt like at home.

I can see from some reviews posted here this might not be ideal place (location wise) for the older couples or even families with young kids as the hotel is located below the Prague Castle, and the short walk (10-15min up the cobbled streets) from the city center.
On the other hand you are in the middle of historic part of Prague (Mala Strana) and right next to the Castle.

My friend and I travelled through Europe for a couple weeks and decided to treat ourselves with a nice hotel for 2 nights while we were in Prague. And were we ever treated!!!
Everything about this hotel screams 5 star.
We were picked up from the airport and driven right to the hotel. It is not located in the main town square area, it's located just underneath the Prague Castle. However, we walked everywhere and had no problems! Everything is close, and if you did want a taxi/private car Golden Well will set evrything up for you. (We did this when we went to see the Opera)
We are 2 young girls in our 20's.. and felt a little out of our league going into Golden Well Hotel. But from the moment we walked through the doors the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and at ease. We were offered a cold compress once we sat down to check in. Our bags were brought up to our room. We were given a full tour of the hotel before being shown to our room, which was INCREDIBLE! I highly reccomend taking a bath in the jacuzzi tub! Upon our arrival we had a bottle of wine and a large cheese and fruit plate waiting (free of charge)
After we were settled in we were taken to the terrace for a complimentary drink and snack. One of the staff members sat down with us and went over a detailed map , pointing out all the areas of interest. VERY helpful and informative. (Side note: I do not recommend the Jelwery Store tour... not worth it)
The private entrance to the Prague Castle was great!!
The breakfast was expensive... 20 Euro. But absolutely wonderful. Worth it just for the views from the restaurant. There is a massive contintental breakfast offering everything you could possibly imagine as well as a menu with things like french toast and crepes.
The turn down service was a delight, with little cakes by your bedside.
The staff was impecable, truely concerned about us and our happiness. Were always there to help out. Afternoon Canapes were great as well.
My only regret is that we did not have enough time to exprience all the hotel has to offer!!!
If you are thinking about coming to Prague and don't mind spending money on a great hotel then this place is A MUST!!! Absoulutely beautiful, staff is spectacular, I have nothing bad to say about Golden Well.
Thanks for the wonderful time :)

We stayed in a deluxe room at the Golden Well for four nights in the beginning of June and it truly was an amazing experience. Our expectations were set very high, considering the TripAdvisor awards and reviews this property has received. I am happy to say our expectations were both met and exceeded.

The property itself is a piece of history which has been converted to a very charming, world class hotel, featuring no more than nineteen rooms. Everywhere in the hotel, you will come across small places for relaxation and contemplation; hence the reference to an oasis in the title of the review.

We used the transportation offered by the hotel to get to and from the airport, which we found very convenient and reasonably priced.

The staff members were fantastic, in all interaction with us - before, during and after our stay - they made us feel very comfortable and important. Professional, yet personal and friendly. Even if this applies for literally everyone, I will give my gold star to Simon (I think?) at the front desk.

Our room was on the fourth floor. It was spacious, tastefully decorated and with a fantastic view of Prague. Room facilities and services included:

- Excellent welcome gifts, in our case a bottle of red wine and a cheese platter
- iPod with preloaded songs
- DVD player with access to loads of DVDs (available at the front desk)
- Molton Brown amneties
- Turndown service with good night-treats
- Fruit platter which was refilled daily
- Very comfortable towels
- Very comfortable beds and bed linen
- Complimentary coffee and croissant served in room in the morning

In addition, the hotel also offered a lounge (serving light snacks and drinks all days at 4-6 pm) and free access to business office. There's also a private entrance to the castle grounds (which can be accessed from the Tereasa restaurant on the top)

Being tired from lots of walking and many impressions the previous days, we decided to use room service one night and went for traditional club sandwiches. One of the best club sandwiches I ever had - and also one of the biggest! The presentation was not outstanding, but absolutely not bad either. Serving time was estimated to 1 hour, but it arrived after around 30 minutes.

We also had a dinner at the Terasa, which was a good experience. The staff was very nice and the food was well prepared, obviously based on excellent ingredients and nicely presented. I did not find the dishes fantastic though - my Prague ham entree and veal main course were simply not that interesting nor exciting. However, there were also some highlights. The plum ravioli desert was really good and my mother was very happy with her perfectly balanced risotto (one of those dishes that really shows if someone can cook or not!) All in all a great restaurant, but I have visited better food-wise.

To sum it all up, I would say the general hotel facilities, its location and staff is what makes this a hotel worthy of a spot among the top hotels of the world. We would definately go back and would without doubt recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Prague. Actually, put Golden Well anywhere in the world, and it would be worth a trip there just to stay at the hotel!

Room Tip: Deluxe Room on high floor, for the view

Even the best organisations will occasionally have problems, what marks out the good from the bad, is how they deal with them. In our case the problem arose through a third party booking system that did not allow us to select a twin room, only request it, which we did. When we arrived we found that we had been allocated the wrong room type and the hotel was full. The next morning the management arranged a transfer to a better room, which was a twin, and then went on to make sure that every detail of the rest of our stay received the personal attention of the manager, with the result that service was faultless. We agree with other reviewers regarding the high standards, comfort and excellent location of the Golden Well. I should add that the breakfast is the best we have had.
Overall the hotel passed the ‘problem solving test’ with flying colours.

My husband and I stayed here from May 21st thru 25th and found the hotel absolutely wonderful. It started with the Mercedes pick up at the airport, courtesy of Robert, who made a fab first impression and set the tone for the level of service we encountered. The Grand Deluxe Room was lovely with all the amenities we could ask for. I particularly LOVED the turndown surprise each night. Teresa who we dealt with on check in was a joy, as was every member of staff we encountered. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring Prague. The only reason I did not give 5 stars on the value was the cost of the breakfast which I believe for the price of the room should be included. All in all I will recommend to any family or friends travelling to Prague and should we return, will most definitely stay at the Golden Well.

Room Tip: Request a garden view

We chose this hotel because of all the wonderful reviews and the location. Our disappointment came in our room which would have been perfect for a younger couple, We had to climb a 14 stair winding staircase to reach the room itself, which all was very charming, but proved very difficult for a retired couple, especially after a long and difficult train ride and late arrival. The hotel was fully booked and since we were only staying 2 nights and were exhausted on our arrival, we decided to stay. The staff was charming, the welcome of hot towels and a beverage was greatly appreciated after a long train ride. The tour of the hotel was a nice touch. The best part, other than the evening sweet treat, was the great location. Easy access to the castle and being away from the hustle and bustle of the city was terrific. The breakfast staff is one of the best we have every encountered, as well as the wonderful breakfast selections, although the cost of our breakfast was not included. We would love to return here someday, but would be sure to book a different booking code,.... so if you want the true luxury this terrific little hotel can offer.......book a more expensive room, unless you are lucky enough to get upgraded, which we were not. Although frustrating, the problems with the internet and TV were not as important, since we were there to vacation and see the city.
