“Best overall accommodation on a recent trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 June 2014 via mobile

Good location for enjoying the sights of Prague, we walked everywhere. Our rooms were immaculate and very well appointed, brand new bathrooms and were perfect for a ladies only trip. The staff was welcoming and happy to accommodate all of our bookings for activities and ongoing travel and referred us to lovely restaurants. One small incident on service was immediately taken care of, with many apologies and a more than adequate compensation. This was our favourite hotel on our recent trip to Europe, I would highly recommend it to friends and would definitely return.

Dear Nancy M,

Thank you for your brilliant review of your experience at the Golden Well Hotel.

I am delighted to read that you had a terrific "ladies only trip" stay at our boutique hotel and that you appreciated the warm and professional service delivered by our team. The location is truly ideal with the most important sites just a short walk away from the hotel and many great restaurants in the area, which I am glad to hear that you took advantage of. I truly appreciate you recommending the hotel and I am thrilled that you already plan to come back in the future.

I look forward to welcoming you again to the Golden Well Hotel soon!

Kind regards,

Golden Well was our favorite hotel in our recent trip to the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary. We loved the Hotel Sacher in Vienna, and the Goldener Hirsch in Salzburg, and the Gresham Palace Four Seasons in Budapest... they all have their charms. But... the Golden Well has 1) great location (the quiet/Mala side of Prague) with beautiful vistas -- and a back door to the Prague Castle garden 2) boutique charm, with all the romantic nooks and crannies anyone would like -- no "big hotel" feel here; 3) one of the best dinner restaurants in Prague with unbeatable views of the city; 4) the best breakfast around (try the omelette with goat cheese with sauteed mushrooms on the side -- yum!); and, most important, 5) an incredible staff... from the concierge to the maids to the food servers in the restaurant. You do need to be fairly fit to stay here -- the walk up the cobble stones from where your taxi lets you off; lots of stairs, including up to the restaurant and bar levels, and a bathtub/shower combination that requires some dexterity. But no question -- this is the hotel we will go back to and recommend to all our friends.

Room Tip: The Tyco Brahe suite is wonderful!

We just returned from Prague 6 days ago. From the entry into the hotel until our departure there were no lack of attention or service. The breakfasts each morning were very large and could order from the kitchen eggs and omelets and pancakes and waffles in addition to a large buffet. Coffees were a work of art . The view from the restaurant was of the roof tops of all of central Prague. I must mention that the rooms were large as were the baths with a rain shower shower head. turn down service with small cakes placed on the bedside table. In room K cup coffee service made getting up early in the morning easier. From 4-6 PM wine and finger food were placed in the lounge making convenient to meet other guests
We could not eat dinner at the restaurant because it was fully booked since it is the top rated restaurant in Prague.
Don't even think of staying elsewhere if a vacancy is present.

Room Tip: Ask for a twin bed bed arrangement and you will get a very large room

Dear gstape,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of your recent stay with us at the Golden Well Hotel.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your Prague getaway with us and that from the moment you arrived at the hotel you felt pampered. The team at the Golden Well pride themselves on their work and are happy to hear that you wouldn't recommend anyone to stay anywhere else.

I have to agree the breakfast in the restaurant is the perfect way to start the day. There is nothing better than two or three course breakfast with excellent coffee before setting off and exploring all that Prague has to offer. I am sorry that you didn't have a chance to experience the dinner on the roof terrace as well and hope that we will be able to arrange a nice table for you for your next visit.

We all look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel for another high class experience in Prague.

With warmest wishes,

I never write reviews, but this hotel was really worth it. We walked up from the metro because my boyfriend is local, and were met by someone rushing out to grab our luggage when they heard it on the cobblestones. The service was impeccable -- they reached out to me over email three times to confirm little details and things we had requested (surprise romantic evening package: beyond well executed and worth doing). The room was lovely, looking over the roof tops of Prague and the beautiful lower castle gardens. Breakfast is served on the terrace over looking the city which has to be the best view of any restaurant and it's not a large hotel so you're constantly enjoying peace and quiet. The food is fabulous too. Everything is within walking distance as well, and the building has rich history. Overall a perfect experience and we will never stay anywhere else in Prague again. Additionally, it's NOT remotely over priced, which is sort of miraculous for a hotel of its quality.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for the (like 10 euros) for the rooms with garden views!

For those looking for a great place to stay and wanting to avoid a big hotel in the city center, this has to be the best hotel in Prague. It is tucked away just below the gardens of Prague Castle, and has spectacular views of the city from most rooms and from the restaurant located on the top floor of the hotel. Walk from the restaurant directly onto the grounds of the castle. Walk from the hotel to most points in the city in 15 minutes.

The hotel is decorated and appointed to perfection, and the staff is fantastically courteous and helpful. Breakfast or dinner overlooking the city is a memorable experience, and the dinners are of gourmet quality. Every afternoon from 4 to 6 you can enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres downstairs and chat with fellow travelers.

Only one caveat: the hotel is located at the end of a street that is so narrow that most cars can't negotiate the last turn, so you may have to walk 50 yards or so.

This is one of the very best hotels we have stayed in anywhere, and we look forward to returning!

We spent 5 nights here and had an excellent stay. Hotel staff is uniformly helpful and friendly as is the staff in the restaurants. Our room, 42, was large, comfortable and with views of the city. My only reservation about it is that the windows are small and the view is available only when you are standing right in front of the window. Also, because the windows are small, the room was a little dark.

Especially nice features of the hotel are an espresso machine in the room, a small sweet served with turn down service, and for 2 hours each afternoon complimentary food and wine is provided in the living room. The wines were surprisingly good and the food, which was different each day, was exceptionally good -- as good as, or better than, the food they served in the restaurants. It was not only a wonderful rest break in the day but also a time to get to visit with some of the other guests.

My only reservation about the hotel is that it is a bit of a walk to anything and a relatively long walk to the heart of the city. Nevertheless, this is the best boutique hotel I've ever stayed at and I would definitely stay here again when I return to Prague.

Dear OregonOregonian,

How wonderful to hear that you felt that the Golden Well was the best boutique hotel that you have stayed in and I have passed you very kind words to all the team who are blow away by such wonderful feedback. I am pleased that you enjoyed the little treats in the room such as coffee machine and good night dessert and sorry to hear that you found the windows to be too small and the room quite dark, however it is heartwarming to see that even though you stay in general was to your liking.

I do hope you will have the opportunity of visiting us again in the near future.
