“Loved Prague, loved the hotel”
Reviewed 31 October 2008

Have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay in Prague. Chose the hotel from trip advisor and was not disappointed. The location is excellent and the main attractions are all within easy reach. The rooms and attention to detail can not be faulted. Staff are extremely helpful and I am sure we could not have had better service in any other hotel. Breakfast is plentiful and sets you up well for the day. I enjoyed the cake so much the chef made me a large cake to bring back to the UK. We did have a problem with the jaccuzi in the bath but changed rooms with no hesitation. I would definitley return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone who wishes to visit this most attractive city.

That's exceptional hotel which has beautiful location in quite and perhaps most romantic area in Prague.

The service is absolutely brilliant. You will not get anything similar in big names hotels at all.

Amazing view on all over the Old Prague City from restaurant.

It's not a cheap hotel at all. But it cost any penny!

Ideal place to stay if you want some romantics and luxury.

We picked this hotel on Expedia by the reviews AND we were not disappointed! This quaint hotel near the castle was unbelievable! No detail was overlooked-they even packed us a lunch because our departing flight was too early for us to have breakfast! The rooms, the view, the people who work there, the food-everything was outstanding ! People might not believe a review that is all superlatives but-trust me-this hotel deserves them and they work very hard to provide them! From the lovely reception with tea and dessert to the final goodby was shear pleasure! pat

My wife and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary during our five day stay and could not have made a better choice in cities to visit nor in places to stay.

The hotel itself is both historic (see the web site) and yet plush with such nice "extras" as rooms appointed with antiques, i-pod, choice of pillows, wireless internet, business center, daily afternoon reception, etc. The bed was comfortable, the location quiet. We walked to all areas of the city and while public transportation is close as hand, found little need to utilize it. One additional caveat - if arriving by plane, the airport transportation arranged by the hotel was efficient, punctual and a relative bargain.

The staff was international and despite their relative youth had an impressive knowledge of the city's cultural offerings - from hockey games to the opera. They seemed genuinely proud of "their hotel" and would have been disappointed if we had an unpleasant experience. We have traveled extensively together over the last 22 years and both agree that while this was not the most expensive nor most luxurious hotel we have stayed at, it was by far the most welcoming and the best overall experience. My only fear is that it becomes so popular that we have difficulty booking a room for a return visit someday.

This is the best Hotel we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in a few including the Ritz in London. Their attention to detail is second to none and their thoughtfulness astounded us. We would thoroughly recommend The Golden Well to anyone and Prague is a very beautiful place too.

If you have the good fortune to travel to Prague, I highly recommend the small, but perfect Golden Well Hotel. It is steps away from the Prague Castle gardens yet a short walk or tram ride away from Old Town, the Rudolfinium and other performing arts locations. The food was truly five-star and their balconies provide breath taking views of this very old, very wonderful city.

We stayed in deluxe room for 3 nights, and experienced nothing but the best service we could get. Everything from the car service that picked us up at the airport to the snacks and beverages in the concierge room, the breakfasts and dinner at the roof top restaurant and the maid who came to make up our beds for sleeping in the evening - the whole stay was amazing .The receptionist that booked tickets for us and printed them out in the reception when we wanted to go to the opera, which was very helpful.

The staff in the reception and the restaurant spoke perfect English, which was very impressive.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Charming traditional retreat in 16th-century Emperor's residence, set beneath the walls of Prague Castle. Wander up the cobbled, traffic-free streets to The Golden Well (U Zlate Studne), clinging to the wall in the shadow of Prague Castle, and you will uncover one of the city's best kept secrets. This modest collection of little inter-locking houses was once home to Emperor Rudolf II, and later the astronomer Tycho de Brahe. Sensitive renovation - has created a cosy yet refined hotel. The result is a pleasing balance of mod cons - internet access, satellite TV - and old style elegance. ... more   less
