As expected from the enthusiastic TripAdvisor reviews, we had a terrific stay at this small, romantic hotel. The level of service was outstanding from the first moment, when we were welcomed with drinks and amuse bouche. Our room was tasteful and comfortable, with nice touches such as the heated tile floor in the bathroom. And the dinner we enjoyed in the upstairs restaurant, Terasa, was delicious from start to finish.

But the thing that really sets this place apart is the view. To have this vista of Prague while not surrounded by crowds is something really special. Take full advantage of that during your stay!

My husband and I spent four nights at the beginning of May. Our stay was absolutely wonderful because everything was perfect and definitely more than we expected. The hotel was situated in a historical building skilfully restored. The standard room, unfortunately with no view, was really spacious, adequately furnished and its furniture and fittings were well preserved and functional. Pillows and mattress were extremely comfortable and there was the possibility to choose the favourite pillow from "the pillow menu", great! Although the Golden Well hotel was a five star hotel, the atmosphere was pleasantly friendly and no display of luxury that was a positive remark in my view. Moreover, I would like to underline the kindness and helpfulness of all staff that I did not take for granted. In particular, we loved the location of the hotel which was connected to the Castle gardens by a narrow private passage, the panoramic breakfast/lunch room which just that was worth the stay and, last but not least, the complimentary afternoon tea that was a nice opportunity of meeting the other guests and..savouring delicious appetizers. We did not have dinner at the hotel restaurant but we ordered from the room service whose food was tasty also if I would have liked a wider choice of main courses. At the end of our stay they gave us a reduction for future stays not only for us but also for our family and friends!!
All in all I can say that the Golden Well hotel made my holiday unforgettable.

I can't say enough positive things about the Golden Well. We travel and do many local weekend trips and think this was the best welcome to any hotel we have ever stayed.

They arranged for a car pick-up at the airport and am glad we did so after a long international flight in economy. We were greeted warmly, brought to the roof restaurant for an incredible introduction to the Prague skyline. We were offered a drink and an amuse bouche while reviewing a map of the city. Our room was darling and though it techinically wasn't a room with a view, it still had a view of the city that we enjoyed. In the room a bottle of wine was waiting along with a cheese plate. To add to our overwhelming feeling of being welcomed, we had a pillow menu if we wanted to choose.

One of the other best services that we have ever received is the personal wake up call with pot of tea or coffee. This service is in additon to the breakfast that is included. It was such a treat to have a cup a tea while getting ready and then head up to the restaurant for a buffet breakfast with a full view of the city.

We recommend the restaurant even if you are not staying there. It was too windy to eat on the roof restaurant, but I can imagine on a beautiful night how romantic it would be to eat up there with the candlelight and the view. Their inside restaurant was lovely as well and we had a nice selection of international as well as local cuisine.as choices. The food was fresh and we appreciated the healthful choices.

We spent two days walking the city and walking for 8 or more hours is tough even with comfortable shoes and even if you work out at home. I could barely move at the end of the day and having the spa tub relieved the aches and pains of sight seeing.

We loved Prague, the Czech Republic and will definitely return. We couldn't imagine staying anywhere else...just staying at the Golden Well is a tempting enough reason to return.

This is the best hotel i've ever stayed in (and i've been in many hotels all over the world).
Expensive, yes, for Prague anyway, but worth every euro, penny or dollar.
Staying here will be a memory my husband and I will treasure in the coming years.

What everyone else has said is very true - its a lovely boutique hotel with service far beyond what you would receive at the Four Seasons or comparable hotels. While it may not be quite as comfy as some of the world's plushest hotels, it isn't as expensive either -- $100/night less than the Four Seasons in Prague...its a terrific value, it is very comfortable, nice sized rooms, and every service you could ask for. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay, and we felt that the front desk staff truly wanted to show the highlights of their beautiful city to us - it never felt like they were simply guiding us to 'the sites,' but were genuinely proud of their city. I loved it.

What a wonderful way to start our vacation. We stayed at the Golden Well for three nights. The entire staff - from the driver who met us at the airport to the front office and restaurant personnel - was very gracious and accomodating. Our room was very comfortable and had a beautiful view over the city. Their restaurant, Terasa, was worth every Euro! I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Prague. We were very sorry to leave and look forward to returning.

We stayed at this hotel based in Tripadvisor' s review and were not dissapointed. We are not used to high service hotels, where you feel afraid to be expelled if you sneeze too loudly. We feel as outsiders in such places, but the personnel in this one made us feel at home. The hotel sent a Mercedes to pick us up at the airport and my wife was ecstatic. We asked for a normal taxi when we left Prague but I regret this decision. The hotel service does not cost much more and you can be sure the driver won't take crazy roads to get more tics in the taximeter.
The personnel have always a smile and the willingness to help you. Room, bed, bathroom, internet service, the breakfast, the view from the room and the view from the restaurant. All perfect. Plus, the hotel is at the end of a little road and you feel like entering your own medieval mansion. From the hotel to the bridge is a relaxing and easy walk. From 3 pm to 5 you can relax in a special room that the hotel supplies with complimentary fruits, wine and cookies, and they have a good expresso machine that you can use for coffee or tea. There is also movies you can take for your room's DVD and a lap top with printer. It was the best decision for our first visit to Prague.

Charming traditional retreat in 16th-century Emperor's residence, set beneath the walls of Prague Castle. Wander up the cobbled, traffic-free streets to The Golden Well (U Zlate Studne), clinging to the wall in the shadow of Prague Castle, and you will uncover one of the city's best kept secrets. This modest collection of little inter-locking houses was once home to Emperor Rudolf II, and later the astronomer Tycho de Brahe. Sensitive renovation - has created a cosy yet refined hotel.
