“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

I recently stayed here and I found it quite pleasant. the room was very clean as was the bathroom, the shower was almost like a power shower and hot water was plentiful. The breakfasts were continental and lots of it-no need to go hungry. In the evening the bar staff made me feel welcome and were able to offer me cooked food to order .I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend it

The rooms were basic however for the money you pay this is to be expected.

We were woken up at 3am every morning by whatever was above us sounding like it would come through the ceiling at any moment, it was a very noisy stay.

The breakfast room wasnt very clean at all with swatted flys on the tables left where they had been squashed, and the same stained table cloths used the entire time.

We were very dissapointed with our stay. Yes its a cheap hotel but that doesnt mean you dont need basic heath and hygene!

Room Tip: Choose annother hotel

My experience of Boatel Racek is, it seems, not like many others.

The reception staff were courteous and helpful. The barman didn't seem to have a great understanding of English, but it was still better than my Czech; he must be the hardest working person in the hotel, he's at the bar until the early hours then in the restaurant at breakfast.

The room was just as I expected; it is small, but almost all that you could need is there. The bedsheets weren't changed in the 4 nights we stayed, but how often do you change your own sheets at home; the bed was made-up every day whilst we were out though. The available TV channels are few in number, the small amount we watched mainly consisted of movies dubbed in German. We are smokers, so there are no complaints about smell etc. The decor of the entire hotel seems to be the same as it was 30 years ago.

The breakfast isn't great, but it is bearable; I got quite used to eating, and enjoying, Spam/chorizo/whatever and bread rolls. The coffee, if you can call it that, is plain awful though. We didn't eat any other meals at the restaurant so I can't advise about that.

Checkout was at 11am, but we weren't due to be picked up until 6pm. Were allowed to leave our luggage in a locked storeroom.

In summary, the price is cheap enough and place is clean enough.

We chose this place because we were so impressed with its photographs. Moreover it was super economical. In the end however it turned out to be a bit disappointing. The staff was friendly but rooms are really small and not ideal for a couple. Breakfast wasn't good and there were not many choices. They even charge for small amenities like soap and shampoo. If you are with your own vehicle and are looking for a place for a night then this is a fine place but not at all recommendable for beyond two nights.

Room Tip: If you book this hotel, please insist on a room on the 'River side' of the hotel. You will h...

Having booked our room only two days before our stay not knowing what to expect we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful with all our enquiries. Botel is situated in a lovely quiet location on the river literally 15 minutes walking distance from the city centre. Our room was quite small but acceptable for boat accommodation, clean and cozy with lovely view of the river. The bed was not the most comfortable and adjustable heating did not seem to make any difference. For the prize we have paid breakfast was unexpected bonus but unfortunately not worth getting up for. The service was very poor with nowhere to sit as tables had not been cleared from previous sitting.

Overall it was a pleasant experience and we would stay there again.

My partner and I had booked Botel Racek for somewhere cheap to stay over New Years. Despite looking at the poor reviews on Trip Advisor, we took a chance and booked Racek as we were attracted to the idea of a botel. When we arrived, my partner realised he had lost his passport. Reception (apart from the ginger woman) were very helpful and gave us the airport number to see whether we had left the passport there. When the police at the airport confirmed they had the passport, the reception gave us discounted taxi rates to go and collect the passport as they have their own taxi driver at the botel. The views from room 108 were amazing. We asked for a non smoking, double bed with river view and that's exactly what we got. We fed the swans and ducks from our window every morning. Rooms were warm and cosey. Ignore the bad reviews. You get what you pay for. We loved our long weekend in Prague and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: River views were amazing.
