Our relatively spacious room was clean and beautifully appointed with rich, dark wood. However, our stay was made very special by the excellent care and service we received from Adam, the concierge.

Adam arranged for us to park our car in one of only two of the hotel's secured parking places, behind a locked gate. In the morning, Adam personally ensured that every item at the extensive breakfast buffet was fresh and in ample supply. He prepared fresh cappuccino, espresso, or regular coffee for us at our requests. He supplied us with a map of the city - including his detailed directions, obtained church service times via the internet, sold us metro tickets, and exchanged money for us at a favorable rate (the hotel accepts Euros, local currency, credit cards, and US dollars). This gentleman's multilingual skills are extremely helpful. Adam summoned a taxi for us, from a trusted operator (be careful, the integrity of the taxi drivers' can be questionable), and told us what the fare would be before we accepted the ride. His affable personality and willingness to go out of his way to serve guests is extraordinary. He even watched our luggage for us while we went sight seeing for the afternoon AFTER we had been officially checked-out of the hotel for seven hours and then sent us our way with coffee and a snack! Now that is exceptional service!

Room Tip: Call ahead to request one of two secure parking spaces the hotel has behind a locked gate.

This was definitely one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. It was exceptionally clean, was in a great location, and the staff were always very friendly and incredibly helpful.

Only spent one night here on our Biking trip around Europe, but arguably the most welcoming hotel and staff on our 10 days away. Great to be welcomed with a cup of tea before we registered and unloaded our gear. Guys behind the reception were a 'top team'. Hotel is clean, comfortable and excellent value. A short walk into town of no more than 2 minutes. Great breakfast. Parking isn't available at the hotel which means a 5 minute drive and walk back, but that can't take away from the overall excellent experience. Well done Gents.

I led a class summer trip to Prague, and we stayed at Hotel 16 for 17 nights. We had an amazing experience during our entire stay. Michal runs an excellent independent hotel, and all of his employees are wonderfully friendly, helpful and kind. The breakfast is bountiful, the location of the hotel is perfect in its accessibility to the main parts of town and the river, but it is also quiet. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Prague.

We stayed for 7 nights in one of the suites in the back of the building on the 2nd floor. Pros: impeccably clean, modern and strikingly decorated rooms; excellent hot breakfast with eggs cooked exactly as desired; comfortable bed and large room; good lighting and ventilation (no A/C, but cool in the evenings with windows open even on hot days); large in-suite bathroom with good sized shower; super responsive and helpful hotel staff (be sure to take Michal's recommendations for restaurants); hot tea brought to your room at any hour; first minibar we've ever encountered with reasonable prices; reasonably priced laundry service; free worldwide phone at front desk; free wifi in room; free internet computer/printer in breakfast room; four closets will hold all your clothing and then some; nice sitting area separated from the bedroom (not with a door, but 20 feet away). On a quiet street in New Town, one block from the most useful tram (#22), three blocks from the metro, 1 block from Pivovarsky Dum (one of the best microbreweries), 1/2 block from the fine restaurant U Emy Destinnové (named for Emmy Destinn, one of the great sopranos of the early 20th century who was born in that building). 24 hr. food/liquor shop at the metro stop. And 1/3 the price of the Hilton where we stayed last year in an inferior room with indifferent concierge service. All this in one of the most magical cities of the world. Get there before the rest of the world discovers it, and the prices for hotels, restaurants and tourist sights double.

This hotel is an excellent choice and use these tips: book a Suite; special order breakfast; use public transportation.

We stayed 4 nights in a Suite with a view of the small garden at the rear of the hotel. The room included a small sitting area with a love seat, a small table and two chairs and a window into the interior courtyard. The room was comfortable and up to date, possibly recently remodeled. The bathroom was clean and efficient. We paid a slightly higher rate for this suite but we enjoyed the sitting area in the evenings reviewing our photos, using the free wifi and planning the next day's activities. It was nice not propping ourselves on the bed.

The room included a mini-fridge and air conditioning. The room was quiet and the bed was one of the most comfortable of all the places we stayed during our 2 week travels around the Czech Republic (8 different hotels/pensions).

The breakfast spread was typical of what you find in most Czech hotels BUT, a small sign offers you order something special (ham and cheese omelette, scrambled or fried eggs) which the staff is happy to whip up and deliver.

The service is better than I have received in 5 star hotels - personalized and genuinely interested in each guest's enjoyment. The staff is quick to offer anything special, advice or arrangements while you are visiting. In our 4 nights there, they were quick to learn our preferences and made us feel like they enjoyed having us stay with them.

Last, important point - location. This hotel is not in a touristy area. The street itself has some small businesses trying to succeed and the "HOTEL" sign is one of few signs you will see on the block. Some might be put off by the initial view from the outside. The area seems residential, but that just makes it quiet. The hotel actually backs up to a Botanical Garden. There are 3 public transportation stops nearby in a triangle (two tram stops and a subway stop). We were never concerned about safety and if you don't mind a 2 or 2 1/2 block walk to the public transportation, you have 3 different lines available to you, which is a plus. It was not obvious where you would park if you brought a car.

I was delighted with this find. We had stayed one night at Hotel Adria on the main Wenceslas Square tourist area. I am so glad we moved to Hotel 16 for the rest of our time in Prague.

Room Tip: we enjoyed the Suite at #21. With their 7% discount for booking 28 days in advance, it cost about...

The staff is extraordinary friendly and helpful. Staying in Hotel 16 feels like visiting friends. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Our room was perfectly clean and quiet with view over the garden. There are very nice details like free afternoon tea, fruits available 24/7, sweets, breakfast newspaper and high speed wifi. The staff speaks fluently German and English. In public areas you can marvel at countless historic wall clocks.
