This is a small, clean, quite hotel that is conveniently placed for a short city break. Our room was at the back of the hotel and was very small with little natural ligh, however it was warm and cosy.
We were visiting Prague for the first time together (both previously visited on separate occasions) we both love Prague and we chose December so that we could enjoy the Christmas Markets.
This Hotel is not luxurious but is adequately furnished for a short break, we stayed for 3 nights and had limited luggage.
Breakfasts were disappointing and staff in the breakfast room unfriendly. However the staff at the reception are friendly and helpful.
We would stay here again as it was reasonably priced but would not recommend it for a longer trip.

Stayed with my wife and 12 yr old daughter. Hotel was clean and fresh with quite new interior. Staff were helpful, friendly and prompt. Breakfast was fresh and tasty buffet style with hot and cold options. The tariff was reasonable given the location. Only 15 minutes to old town square. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the area but not rowdy. Only negative was the hot water in the shower took 5 minutes to run hot, but was fine when it got there.

Hotel Pav is a good three star hotel for a city trip. The rooms are clean and not dated. But: it depends which hotelroom you get; they vary a lot in size and location. We were quite pleased with our room in what from the inside looked like a 'round tower', with the bed in an 'extra space' (also: extra dark, which I like) and therefor enough room to put our bags and sit comfortably in the other half of the room. The location is perfect; even with metro station Narodni closed it is easy to reach from the airport with public transport and close to the city centre; yet far enough to be quiet at night. We did not experience any noise from next doors popular beercellar U Fleku, but keep in mind we were there in winter and it might be different on a summer night. I read a lot of comments about unfriendly staff but we experienced only kind people. Even the hotel bar was open on Christmas Eve, a very important family occasion in Prague. The lady probably did not have a single customer at night but it shows how hospitable the hotel is: to be there for the one guest that would arrive on christmas with nothing to drink and nowhere to go... I like that.
The only problem is the breakfast space: breakfast itself is fine, with good bread and juices but you have to wait to get a table and often have to join tables with other guests. Because of that breakfast is also very noisy (we didn't even try to start a serious conversation).

As for going to Prague on Christmas: yes, I would recommend it. Shops ALL close december 24 from around 14.00 and are closed december 25th; big shops will open again december 26th, little ones stay closed. Restaurants are mostly open all the time, even on christmas eve; and musea open december 25th around noon. The giant tree on the town square is fairylike and the market around it attractive (though: mostly things-to-eat).

Dear Mirjam,

thank you so much for your review.

We are glad to hear you had a wonderful Christmas stay in our hotel. Prague has very special feeling in this period of the year with all the Christmas markets, decoration and snow. It's almost magical!

Location of our hotel is indeed very good - you can walk to all main places in Prague and enjoy the beauty of tiny and old Prague streets.

We'll be more than happy to welcome you again in our hotel on your next trip to Prague.

Best regards

We were very disappointed with the room we were allocated (007) and the attitude of the hotel staff when we raised our concerns with them.

The room was very noisy and very small even for a City hotel. We were woken at 0430 each morning with staff talking noisily as they passed our door, pushing trolleys from the kitchen and the noise of the pots and pans being banged. While we understand the need for them to go about their business we do feel that, at that time of the morning, greater consideration should be given to hotel guests who would quite obviously be asleep (or in our case, not).

We brought this to the attention of the receptionist instead of showing any concern, she just shrugged her shoulders and admitted that ours was known to be a noisy room. If that was the case then the hotel staff should even more be aware to keep the noise down for the comfort of guests( or not even sell this room). This booking was made on 15 October and when we asked why we had been allocated what was clearly one of the worst rooms in the hotel, the receptionist just said: "We are busy."

Another receptionist (male) was extremely rude when he tried to get us to utilise the hotel's favoured transfer company. We advised him that the one we had used on arrival was Kr230 cheaper and, very unprofessionally, he tried to tell us that the company we had used were not to be trusted.

My friend and I are both travel industry employees and so we understand the challenges faced by hotels. However it is how the staff deal with these challenges that makes the difference between an enjoyable stay and one that is unacceptable. In this instance we feel the situation falls into the latter category.
Hotels have little control over noisy guests but they do have control over noisy staff. Clearly this hotel was either unable or unwilling to control its staff and had little respect for the comfort of paying guests.

Dear guest,

I am sorry for the situation that happened during your stay. We deeply care about our guests and try to solve any problem immediately so you could enjoy your stay in our hotel. Unfortunately we could not do anything in this case as you raised your complaint just after your check out. I hope that the first night from your two nights stay in the room was OK then.

I would like to repeat our apology sent to you back in December 2013. I still hope we can welcome you again in our hotel on your next trip to Prague as it would be pleasure.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any comments to fom@hotel-pav.cz
