We stayed at the Aria in mid march and chose the hotel through a combination of reading Tripadvisor reviews and the recommendation of a well known city break travel operator, possibly founded by a captain of enterprise.
The hotel is in an ideal location situated in the quiet Mala Strana area from which the castle and Charles bridge can reached in a few minutes. This also makes it very convenient to visit the old town and the famous clock.
The hotel itself has a modern and contemporary feel, finished to a high quality throughout, and the very young management team have succeeded in creating a very friendly atmosphere from the top down. The only other hotel we have stayed in which has a similar feel is the Hilton in Malta. Check in was quick and efficient and we were shown to our room where the various entertainment facilities were explained. The room had 2 flat screen TV's, a free to use computer, a very good floor standing speaker/amplifier set up and an I pod pre loaded to suit most tastes. The bathroom was a good size and there was also a guest cloakroom and a small kitchen area. The vaulted ceiling added to the sense of space and the room had 2 large sofas and a dining table. Breakfast was a relaxing affair with very attentive service but I agree with other reviews that it wasn't really up to 5 star standard and the extra charge for hot items was disappointing. We spoke about this to the operations manager who told us he is looking into this unpopular aspect. This was the only criticism we had about our stay and should we return to Prague we would certainly return to the Aria and book the same suite ( Smetana.) Travellers arranging their own trip should speak to the lovely Katerina, the reservations manager, who was very helpful indeed. Guests arriving late evening may wish to try the restaurant a couple of doors down from the hotel - Gitanes - which has no smoking rooms at the rear.
