“2nd Stay at this nice hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

Stayed across the street at Residence Tabor last year. This year at the Golden City and it was a very positive experience. Room was in very good condition, plenty of space with a nice bathroom. The bed and pillows were better than I experienced last year and despite facing the street, the noise from cars and the tram was very minimal. Breakfast is great and the women working there are very friendly. Check in was quick and also friendly. This place a great value in a regular-joe part of town (Zizkov) I doubt I'll stay anywhere else in future trips to Prague. Two tram stops to the train station but I walked most of the time - 15min easy walk to Old Town.

Booked this hotel for two nights December 2013. Although the room was basic, it was clean and spacious. All you need for somewhere to put your head down on a City Break. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Advising how to get to the centre by tram, which is just outside the hotel entrance. Breakfast was nice with a selection breads, cereals, jams, cheese and hams, vegetable soup(!?), pasta, and salads. Would definitely stay here again should I return to Prague. Nothing fancy but all you need. Only gripe would be the hard towels but not enough to put me off staying again.

Booked a quiet room for five nights with two bedrooms and a kitchen on a b&b basis for me, my wife and my father in law (75 years young and wanted to experience a city break).

Got a very quiet room with 2 bedrooms -
The beds the most comfortable beds i have ever slept in away from home - I am a poor sleepr and this was probably the best I have ever slept on holiday.
The beds had huge pillows - twice normal size. My wife fell in love with hers and wanted to take it home. I suspect she might have - had we not only had hand luggage with us.

The "kitchen" turned out to be a fridge, a microwave and a kettle. No utensis, Nothing except cups and glasses. Only time the hotel fell short of my anticipation.

Very handy as tram stop Lipanska right outside the hotel - so not much walking for "dad" on that front. Czechs very polite and 95% of the time he didnt have a seat on a bus/tram/metro a young Czech would freely offer up their seat for him. (did for me a couple of times too and Im 43 and not ready for the scrapheap just yet.

Breakfast was adequate if not exceptional to start you off for the day. Various Breads and Rolls, Hot Dogs, Cold Meat, Cheeses and Jams - There was also hot veg soup every morning (Strange).

No issues with room at all - a little tired perhaps, but perfectly acceptable.
Flat screen TV in our room was older model that didnt have HDMI input so couldnt connect tablet to it - but we werent in room that much so not too big an issue.

If I came back to Prague, would I return to this hotel?
Answer is Yes.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the road as trams pass right outside the front rooms till 4am.

Good hotel, big clean rooms. Monotonous, but tasty breakfasts. Hard towels. Convenient location. Nearby tram stop. In the room could hear sounds of trams, but get used. In general the hotel were good emotions.

Отличный отель, удобное расположение, рядом трамвайная остановка. Есть шум от трамваев, но привыкаешь.

Good connection to the City center. TV Tower nearby . Stuff on reception checked me in at 23:30 when I arrived from the airport.( transfer was ofered, but it cost as as a single room/night) I was also able to buy beer on reception to have a pre sleep drink. Brekfast is good. Tram noise is heared all threw the night that is not good. Also dont forget to use chip key in the elevater. I'm not sure If I choose this hotel next time but for this stay it was ideal not expansive stay. Check out at 10.00 is a bit early for me

Just stayed here for 2 nights on my stag do. The location was within walking distance of the centre but situated in what we felt closer to some real prague. Room was what we required, great for the price and the staff were all excellent friendly and incredibly helpful

I wonder who assessed to rate this hotel three stars. The first thing that I am looking for in a hotel is the cleanliness. The result was terrible. Bed, sheets, pillows, pillow cases, towels were very old, torn off and dirty. If gray towels are used in a facilty, I think it, there is a problem with cleanliness. Why white ones are not used? Never believe any no-smoking rooms, because the corridor is smoking. If your plan is to go to night-clubs (!), drink and then just sleep, it is okay but without drinking it is impossible to put up with dirts. My all-in-all advise, please don't even consider to stay in this hotel. I can give credits for this hotel only for the receptionist girl whose was there when we arrive.
