Having lunch on a student trip.
Really good service and cheap alcohol :)
they are very fast to bring the food and the atmosphere is really cozy.

Really worth a visit. Very good hygiene.

When I arrived at the Hotel U Zlatého Stromu in the middle of the night, looking scuzzy with a large backpack and a sweat built up during my roundabout wander there from the train station, I was simply greeting with a smile and courtesy. I appreciated that, given my trepidation upon entering what seemed like a swank and upscale building. The desk staff’s English was also excellent, which always makes life easier. My appreciation grew as I was shown to my room, which was through an impressive door, along the side of the building, up some stairs and through some gates. I was honestly a little nervous at this roundabout route, and half feared something dingy, but was instead greeted with a luxurious (though small, as expected given its description) room with an inviting bed. The bathroom was huge, and there was a leather chair to sit on as I planned my adventures the next morning. The windows, admittedly, only overlooked the Hotel’s courtyard, which was not an interesting enough scene most of the time to bother looking at. However, since all I had to do was walk out into the street and look left to see the start of Charles Bridge, I found this quite forgivable.

On that note, the location was optimal for sightseeing (and for such a reasonable price!). Step out, turn left, and Charles Bridge awaits, and across it many sites on the other side of the Vltava – including Prague Castle, within a reasonable distance for a walker like myself. Turn right, walk a few steps, and you are in the Old Town Square, which is ground zero for touring most of Prague’s historical sites. Everything is a short walk away, including restaurants, and plenty of absinthe sellers. On that note, the food at the hotel’s restaurant is good, and the breakfast spread is ample. However, even if it does not suit your tastes, other nearby dining and drinking options abound.

On a final note, when considering this location, some reviews warned that it could be noisy due to nearby clubs and such. Perhaps because my days we so full, I found I slept soundly each night. I could occasionally hear some music through the windows, but in my room at least, the volume was quite low.

Everything was great except for the heat in the hotel (but it is roasting everywhere indoors so I guess that is part of the local culture) & the smell of cigarette smoke in the room (again with no smoking ban part off the local culture). Very friendly and helpful staff with good knowledge of English. Clean room with beautiful old furniture and exquisite painted ceiling. Lovely view on side street and the start of Charles Bridge. You cannot be more central. All main city centre attractions are in walking distance. There's some street noise as to be expected in any city centre. A taxi can be hailed near the hotel and prices are low (but watch our for cheats). Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice for everyone. You can also enjoy a lovely dinner there with local specialities on the menu and an extensive cocktail menu. Only thing to watch out for of you are less able: steep stairs and didn't notice a lift. also handles in / near the bath. Also make sure you try to bargain when buying souvenirs, especially garnets and such. Shop around before committing to buy. Prague city centre is lovely around Christmas - lively and with lovely Christmas markets. But dress warmly - it can get very cold.

I was staying here with my sister, whom isn't too picky about hotels but will not settle for anything less than good. We stayed at the apartment, which is managed by the same hotel.
We were really pampered with the genuine warmth and welcome from the hotel especially for the concierge. He brought and carried our luggage, while leading us to our rest place for the night. I remembered my sister's comment, "although we are not taking a car, I feel like we are being chauffeured around right now!"
Service is top notch for a family style hotel. We enjoyed the balance of internationalism, openness from the staff yet, still maintaining the ethnicity of the country! Rooms are welcoming with traditional furnishing and very comfortable beds!
We particularly liked the unique f&b offering at one of the top 10 bars in the world, Angel's bar, in the sister hotel, U Prince. Drinks are one of kind, accompanied by live piano and friendly and attentive staff!
A truly enjoyable experience that I will recommend to all!

got a very bad experience in this hotel. have been cheated by the picture and the description. Got a 14-15sqm room instead of 25sqm and the decoration wasn't the same at all. only a really small windows for aeration.

what i don't understand is that they haven't assign me another room as they wasn't full at all.

Room Tip: never, never take the room 43. you don't need to see the room just ask to change directly

Perfect central location. Room clean and spacious. There are no tea/coffee making facilities and you need to ask if you need a hair dryer. We had to wait until after 3pm to check in and there are no safe luggage areas, you just leave them in an open reception area. We were on the third floor and the room above was very, very , very noisy. We could hear every word, the TV, footsteps and worst of all the bed springs for hours every night! The nightclub was the least of our worries with only a faint sound of music. Breakfast was nice, a good selection but staff a bit sloppy topping up juice dispenser, bread etc and clearing tables between use. Overall not a 4 star hotel and we would look for a different hotel next time in Prague.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the top floor if you want to be able to sleep!

The room is a dated period set piece that reflects the history of Prague.
The up side is that it is so central to Town Square and the Charles Bridge which is only 100 m away at the end of a very lively street, so for the short stay you do not need local transport. The reception staff are superbly helpfull and make time to help you to enjoy Prague. The restaurant menu is excelent, pictorial and in 5 lanquages! Breakfast was more than adequate. Pricing was generally good value.
The down side. Ask for a rear facing room if you are among the mature light sleepers as the street is busy and noisy until 4am, despite the excelent double glazing. No air conditioning perhaps needed when very hot. The restaurant waiters are efficient but do not smile !
No Lift.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the Couryard are quieter. There is no lift, so for the less agile book a room on the 1...
