I arranged a surprise trip to Prague for my husband’s 50th Birthday. Neither of us had been before and choose the Art Deco Imperial, due to its wonderful interior design, which didn’t disappoint. I arranged for the hotel limousine to collect us from the hotel, which was an additional luxury but worth the small additional sum over a conventional taxi. It was waiting for us despite the long delays at the airport due to lack of staff and the driver kept us entertained on the hour journey, pointing out the local tourist points and history.

The hotel staff were warm, helpful and friendly. After checking in our bags we headed straight for the hotel restaurant as hunger beckoned. The waiting staff, especially a young man who served us, made every effort to make us welcome and engaged in conversation. The food was good and very reasonable.

Our room lived up to the photo’s on the website. I did a lot of research before booking and the only issue I could find was the shower/bath surround was high and you had to step into the same. This was not a problem for us as we are both tall. If short or infirm this may be a problem, so check before you book as you can choose a room, which doesn’t have this problem, although it was an upgrade and would have cost more.

The hotel supplied a complimentary bottle of champagne with strawberries and a birthday card, which was a lovely thought.

The bed was large and extremely comfortable, one of the best I have slept in. We made use of the hotel spa/steam room, which we basically had to ourselves and utilised the lovely robes. Breakfast was included in the price and was very impressive. There were both hot and cold choices and I can’t think of anything they left out, it set us up for the day!

The hotel was located in a prime location and we were able to walk to most of the tourist spots, which was ideal. We went at the end of April and it was hot, I even had to buy additional summer tops whilst I was there. Although there were alternative hotels set in beautiful grounds, you would have needed to get taxis. The Art Deco was perfectly placed for our weekend break, it gave us the luxury we wanted for the special occasion and the freedom of movement due to its location. We booked everything via British Airways on-line, which was trouble free. After my booking was confirmed I liaised with the hotel direct for special arrangements for my husband and they were extremely helpful and everything went to plan.

Unless you're a regular you'll probably end up like all the other tourists that are ferried in by the busload (literally) in a quite small rooms that pretends to be fancy with fake art-deco ornaments and furniture.
Location is great though but staff treats everyone indifferent (not in a good sense) and what five star hotel charges you extra for wanting a cappuccino for breakfast?

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your review of the property. The room décor reflects Czech cubism of the beginning of the 20th century, I hope you did expect original artifacts which would probably lack in comfort.
Your stay dates back to November last year, but clients are not charged for extra coffee orders now (latte, cappuccino etc.).

We planned a weekend trip to Prague with friends to include a business engagement for her the following Monday, purely fun for us. This meant that we'd arrive and leeve at different times so chose an hotel which could accommodate all our needs. The Art Deco was the one, central, stylish and able to locate us in adjacent rooms whilst booking on different deals. Booking through BA was great for our friends, and as we were using Avios points, a cheap offer for online booking worked for us. Nevertheless, they treated us as a group, which was impressive.

Our arrival late on Thursday lifted the spirits. As I approached the reception desk, before I spoke, the clerk enquiringly said my name. "how did you know, are we the last tonight?" I asked. "Yes: he replied, "almost, and I don't think you are typically chinese". Great sense of humour the Czeckskys.

The hotel is situated on a main access road to the old town centre which is about 5-10 minutes walk away. There are trams which are probably louder at the front of the hotel, but our quiet rooms were situated at the rear, with a poor view, mainly of other walls and a little sky (there are no spectacular views from this hotel so a tram free, view free room could be recommended). The trams are an excellent feature of Prague so a compromise is fine. Our rooms were comfortable, well decorated, with luxurious marble bathrooms (the only small annoyance here was the loo seat when lifted, always knocked the loo roll from its holder!), very comfortable bed, good quality furnishings and a convenient interconnecting door with our friends room which was excellent for pre dinner G&T time and watching the F1 together on Sunday morning.

My only concern is that you are stuck with aircon which I find somewhat dessicating, the windows don't open (however it was -8C whilst we were there so that wasn't really an issue!).

We were very impressed by the concierge who could not have been more helpful, arranging at short notice, restaurants, a walking tour on Saturday morning (an excellent guide by the name of Marget - highly recommend) and concert tickets for Saturday pre dinner. He even managed to squeeze us into the Sunday bookings of the Restaurant at the Art Deco - a go to destination in itself, with a chef who draws crowds and ensuresit is always busy.

Food in the Art Deco, as you'd imagine from the popularity, was excellent. The menu in the restaurant is uncluttered, short, nods in the direction of traditional, but is also innovative, the portions are generous and the food delicious. Book in advance.

Breakfast was a large and varied buffet, with everything from meats and cheeses to bacon and superb scrambled eggs, with the option to have a tailor made omelette to order. A bustling Art Deco Cafe houses this popular venue and surrounds you with incredible ceramic tiles which were custom made for this restaurant and cover every inch of the walls and ceiling. and you will share the space with other hotel guests and many more people besides, it is THE place to go for breakfast in Prague as far as we could see.

All the staff, as with most citizens of Prague, were polite, friendly attentive and efficient. The service is excellent, the hotel well run and very comfortable and good value (we paid €490 approx for four nights B&B). I would love to return to Prague and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter, no trams. Some rooms are larger than others, often to a great extent...

This is a great hotel if you like really efficient service. We asked to change rooms after our 1st night and were dealt with by friendly and professional staff. Incredibly and without prompt they left complimentary champagne and strawberries with a greeting card to mark my Husbands birthday, they must have spotted on his passport when checking in....?Breakfasts provided plenty of choice and the omelette and egg station were superfast at turning our orders around. Comfy beds, deep baths and pillow selection were all appreciated.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front of the building provide more light, whilst the rooms on the side are a little...

My husband and I just came back from a 3 night break in Prague. We stayed in this hotel and found it to be very good. On arrival we were offered to upgrade to an executive room for an extra 30 Euro per night. As we were not planning to spend much time in the hotel, we rejected the offer. The normal room was perfectly good: clean, nice bathroom and very comfortable bed. It could have done with a coat hanger of some kind, but that's not a big deal. There was a kettle in the room and free tea and coffee. If you wanted to use the hotel WIFI there was an extra charge.

The location is perfect. Less than 5 minute walk from the Municipal concert house and the Powder Tower. After that, within another 5 minutes you can be in the Old Town Square. Right next to the hotel, there's a big shopping mall, if you fancy doing some shopping while in Prague.

The hotel rate included breakfast in the amazing art deco restaurant. The breakfast buffet included all the typical things: cereals, breads, pastries, meats and cheeses and also you could have omelettes made to order. Really, there was nothing missing.

The hotel has a sauna and steam room, but these was not pointed to us on arrival. We only discovered it after flicking through the facilities book in the room.

To get there from the airport, we used the company Prague Airport Transfers, and took advantage of their excellent free walking tour. (review to come). The transfer took about 1/2 hour at the most.

So, overall I thing this hotel is excellent, but I am giving it a 4* because I think that nowadays there's no reason not to have free wifi in a hotel of these category.

Room Tip: If you don't like to sleep with the heating on, make sure you take the wooden cover of the radia...

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 5 days in a standard room on the 5th floor. The room was rather small but with big windows (we had partial view of the castle which was great at night!) and very bright, just as we like it. It was cosy and warm and kept clean during the stay. The bathroom was clean, just had an issue with the bathtub because it's a bit elevated and can be tricky to climb off with wet feet. The bed was super comfortable. We had actually booked the romance package which included some extra services, that went pretty well. The limo service was on time at the airport and the driver very friendly although not very talkative. The dinner at the a la carte restaurant was also great, the portions are big but all plates very tasty. The fruit and sparkling wine was placed in room before us, but probably a lot sooner since the ice had melt. And the late check out was well appreciated because we had more time for shopping. We did use the concierge service as well: the lady was helpfull but not very attentive and always in a rush looking over our shoulder. Staff was ok but nothing more than that. The location of the hotel is ideal, a close walk to all sites, next to the metro and the Millenium mall. I would stay there again in the future but I would appreciate a friendlier attitude from the staff.

Spent 3 nites here 3/17-3/20 in an executive room- which was spacious and very clean. Bed was comfy, shower worked well, there was a nice sitting area and 2 very large windows. Since it was an executive room - free wifi.

the hotel itself was quite clean and had some nice art deco touches-stained glass too.

Breakfast was excellent- had pretty much everything you could ask for and they served until 1030. the dining room was beautiful with many art deco touches.

location- perfect- less than 10 minute walk to old town square.

had a little celebration for 7 in the hotel lounge area- it was the one part of the hotel that was not art deco- but the space was fine as was the service.

had dinner our first nite at the restaurant- food was very tasty, not too expensive ( we find most hotel restaurants are very expensive- this was not) with nice service in a lovely space.

would definitely recommend and would stay here again.
