“Nearly Five Star”
Reviewed 13 May 2009

Room - fairly small and the gold decor a bit OTT. Only BBC World News on the TV which was abysmal. Bathroom was lovely but towels too small. Breakfast was only mediocre. I had to ask for my tea to be made with very hot water, which the staff did willingly. The scrambled egg was tough and the bacon fatty but a fairly good selection of fruit, cakes etc.
If, like us, you need a drink on arrival, replace the water before the maid does the room(the photography shop 100m up the road sells Vittal.) Otherwise you will be charged 160k (£6) for a bottle of water that costs 45k. We didn't realise in time that water wasn't complimentary.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Try the local wine.

We stayed in Prague over the Easter Break for 3 nights and the online reviews about the hotel is exactly what it states. Clean, very nice decor, good service.
The deluxe double room is a reasonable size with a very comfy bed and large pillows. The marble bathroom is beautifully decorated with plenty of space for toiletries.
Cafe Imperial served one of the best buffet breakfasts I've ever had - fresh fruit, fine hot breakfast (well cooked with quality ingredients) and large assortment of pastries. Not to mention the lovely restaurant setting with mosaic designs.
We were pleased with being able to check in earlier than expected, having access to 2 internet PCs allowing us to book and print our tour confirmation and a helpful concierge.
Whilst its located further away from Old Town, its an easy walk to everywhere including Charles Bridge and the local shopping mall, The Palladium, is a 5 min walk from the hotel.
We had a wonderful stay in Prague due to the beauty of the city but also to the wonderful accomodation at the hotel.
The Imperial is a hotel which satisfied our expectations and we will return to stay here on our next trip to Prague.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 4 nights and were very pleasantly surprised. Our room was very elegant, the marble bathroom with bathtub and actually 2 showers not only very nice but also very practical. Although the room was not that big, we had enough space (also a big wardrobe) and all amenities promised were available. The street in front of the hotel is busy with cars and trams but it did not disturb our sleep (only if you are very sensitive to noise, make sure you have your earplugs with you). We never heard anyone from neighbouring rooms - everything was very quiet and the room service excellent. We had breakfast and dinner (on one evening) in the Café / Restaurant Imperial and both is very nice and definitely worth it. And the whole hotel is just an art déco paradise!
It is not directly situated in the tourist center (old town) but we liked this very much. And it's only a five minutes walk from Celnici (where the CEDAZ airport buses arrive + depart) and ca. 3 minutes to Obecni dum, the municipal building.
We found this hotel a very good choice and would be happy to come back.

This Art Deco hotel has been beautifully renovated and turned to a good 5 star hotel. All the public areas offer a feast to the eyes and, unlike so many hotels with grandiose public areas and poor quality rooms, the rooms are very well appointed and range from reasonable size to quite large. Bathrooms are marble and very elegant. Toiletries supplied are of good quality and fine - certainly had all I needed.
Breakfast is extensive and buffet-style - make sure you look at the ceiling!
Service is efficient and reasonably friendly (don't expect effusive service anywhere in Prague). I didn't eat in the hotel restaurant: it looked very expensive for what you got, even though the surroundings were impressive.
Location is ok, it's on the outskirts of the touristy parts, very easy to walk to the old centre (5 - 10 minutes) but more of a hike to the Castle area, although still quite walkable.

the hotel was very close to the old town square and city center... we had a car, but we would just walk there everyday, sit in a cafe or restaurant... even when we party at night and cant drive, we would walk back and dont need a cab...
the hotel had a parking garage and contains a gym, sauna, jacuzi, massage therapy, free internet access and many other facilities that we didnt even have time to use.
the breakfast buffet was so tasty that we ended up feeling bloated after trying the wide variety of food... lunch and dinner were equally delightful.
the room was big, beautifully furnished and elegantly organised... we loved it.
the staff were welcoming and very friendly at all levels...
we liked everything there... we loved our stay and enjoyed the time...
we will definitely come back...

After much studying of hotels on TripAdvisor, Lastminute.com and Expedia I finally chose the Art Deco hotel after the glowing reviews. The hotel is fine, but I would not call it 5 star like Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental. The rooms were good, but a little small, and it was a shame they didn't provide more towels and conditioner. The service was okay, nothing outstanding, and the front desk staff didn't seem to really care about you in anyway that seemed unusual. Breakfast was okay, but again, nothing special. Had coffee and cake one afternoon in the cafe and the cake was good, though the coffee was average.

Overall the hotel is fine, just not great, and it's not the perfect location either as it's just on the outskirts of the cute and romantic areas of town.
