“Great hotel”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Hotel Liberty offers everything a business visitor to Prague needs. Good wireless, comfortable bed and good variety at breakfast. There was some noise early in the morning from the construction work next door, however, the double glazing windows are very effective at sound proofing.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights earlier this month. We were leery as some reviews commented on nearby construction noise. When we emerged from the subway, we asked for help finding the address. The employee at a nearby business warned us that the noise would start at 5 am and continue until 10 pm or later. He was wrong (and maybe the source of the poor reviews?). The noise never started before 9 am and was always done by 7 pm. Since we only use the room for sleeping at night, we were never bothered by the noise. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. The hotel is perfectly located for sightseeing in the Old Town. The square near the hotel was lined with food stands and we enjoyed trying local delicacies. The reception clerk offered suggestions for nearby restaurants and we were not disappointed with his choices. The breakfast was extensive and tasty. The metro station across from the hotel entrance was handy for trips farther out from the center of town.

The hotel is very well situated and the rooms are large and comfortable in the main.
Rooms at the front will suffer at the moment from noise - there is major rebuilding next door which began before 8am, but it was not too intrusive.
Breakfast was good with range of hot and cold options.
Two negatives were no tea/coffee in the room and a pitifully small choice of TV with really just news channels

Room Tip: Not at the front

Hotel-Liberty, General Manager at Hotel Liberty, responded to this review, 29 October 2013
Dear Stiffoak,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I am glad to read that you had a good time with us and you particularly enjoyed the comfort and the hotel location.

I am sorry if the noise in the building beside us caused you some discomfort. As you write the noise is not too intrusive but in any case they should not start to work before 9:00am.
Unfortunately sometime they do not respect the agreement and I have to go personally to discuss with build master.
Anyway I am glad to inform you that they will finish the reconstruction within the end of November, because the 1.12.2013 the house will be opened as shopping center.
For this reason If you would decide to come back to visit Prague during the advent markets the problem with the noise should be already just un old memory.

The tea and coffee making facilities are included in the rate just in the deluxe rooms and in the executive suites. As mentioned in the hotel guide for the standard rooms this service is on request, and we ask a symbolic fee of 1 Euro per day.

I really hope to see you once again at the Liberty.

My Best Regards

Luca Sebastianelli

We stayed in a junior suite - these have a bedroom & bathroom up stairs & a sitting room & main bathroom downstairs. The stay was pleasant, the staff helpful & the included breakfast good with a reasonable level of variety. Our only complaints were that the building site next door (which is not the hotel's fault was pretty loud), the bed a but too firm for both of us and the stair case to the upper level of the suite a bit hair-raising (we wouldn't recommend these suites for someone with young children, has mobility issues or don't like heights!).

Neither my friend nor I had been to Prague before and we took the advice of our travel agent who found your boutique hotel for us! What a wonderful find! We had input in a location as we wanted to be walking distance to most of the things that we were interested in seeing and doing.
It was perfect! We found the staff readily helpful at the desk and also in the dining room where we always were made to feel very welcome with very pleasant smiling and helpful staff.
We loved Prague and wish we could have stayed longer!
We had the added bonus of meeting your General Manager, Luca Sebastianelli who we feel was most interested in our travel stories and we in his! He seems to be a man very suited to this position. Keep up the good work, would love a return visit!

Room Tip: Because of the location of the hotel I imagine that any room would be suitable for a stay. We had a...

Rooms were excellent: we had a superior and it was more like the suites in most other capitals. Hotels are relatively cheap in Prague so for a few nights it's worth splashing out for what you get in return for the extra money. High-quality furnishings and fixtures, very, very spacious rooms and a few minutes walk to all the main sights in the heart of Prague. Good breakfast: I'm a fruit, yogurt and toast person but enjoyed some of the hot food too. Very reasonable coffee, not proper espresso but the German-style machines that froth the milk properly: and if your itching for a real one without leaving the hotel, the Liberty Cafe is in the entrance hall upstairs. Only downsides: no wifi in rooms but available round reception; no loading/unloading directly outside as it's in a pedestrian area but the hotel provides a porter service right out to your taxi about 20-30 m away. There was some renovation work next door when we stayed but I always carry a set of those little yellow earplugs in case I need them for a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: We had the room on the first floor overlooking the entrance - huge in comparison to similar prices i...

A review wouldn't be complete without complaints, aint it? Ok, here's mine. The heater located near the window does NOT radiate heat. In fact, the towel rack heater produces more heat. Called front desk. Said heater was working fine. Provided blankets. Secondly, though this is not the hotel's fault, there is a renovation underway in the next building. The sound of the jackhammer starts as early as 7:25 AM. Can be as annoying as our neighbor's dog that barks all day long!

The room (Room 18) itself is not spacious but big enough for two, has lots of closet space, is tastefully decorated and clean. Breakfast is satisfactory but would be better if menu is changed once in a while. The baguette and espresso are excellent however. So if you are a late riser, you can skip breakfast and go to Wenceslas Square. There you can enjoy a grilled sausage, a Trdelnik and a cup of Starbucks coffee to start your day.

If there's any consolation, we also visited Vienna and Budapest during this trip. Of all the three hotels we stayed at, overall, Liberty Hotel is the best!
