A Great Find!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Sept 2019
Having booked the hotel and then read some of the poorer reviews I wondered what we would find. We spent five days here and have to say we were delighted. We had room 203 which was at the back overlooking the school yard but with the window and secondary glazing closed we heard absolutely nothing from outside and it certainly didn't wake us in the morning as some reviewers said. The only sounds we heard in the room were other people closing adjacent doors. The room was larger with more storage space than some we have had in other hotels and we could have held a dance in the shower. (See photo) The room was made up every day, had a safe and tea, coffee facilities. Reception and breakfast staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very comprehensive wit hot selection, cheeses, meats, salad vegetables, cereals, pastries, spreads, fruit, yogurts and a pot of coffee brought to your table. Despite some reviews to the contrary anything that had run out was quickly replaced if mentioned to the ladies.
The left baggage room was normally locked with the key available from reception and it even had a changing cubicle to get ready for the trip home.
Overall my wife and I were delighted with the hotel and she is normally quite critical but thought the little extra items not normally found, e.g. toilet seat wipes in the downstairs toilet, egg cups for the hard boiled eggs and slices of lemon were a lovely touch and rates it the best 3 star hotel we have stayed in during our many travels.
To those who didn't like it I would say if you want 5 star service start paying 5 star prices because for the money this was way out in the lead. Thank you to the staff for making our five days a pleasure.

It was a really good surprise. Hotel is well located near to the main square, people at front desk very friendly. It is an antique hotel with modern services. Clean, well looked. I absolutely will be back!

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. There is no parking at the hotel and rooms are cleaned between 14h00 to 18h00 the next day. Having travelled throughout the world, we found this shocking. When we took this up with the front desk, the manager arrived in our room ranting and raving that she will clean the room. She didn't clean it. Shocking manner in how the manager dealt with international guests.

it was more shocking that you were screaming at everyone you met at the hotel from reception to brekfast. When it is normal in an international environment ...... which I suppose is not.

We spent 3 nights here last week, and it was a very pleasant stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable, decorated in quite a dated style, but it suits the building. Having said that, it has obviously been renovated fairly recently and the furnishings are newish. The bathroom was large and well presented with a very good shower. Our rooms had air conditioning, but not all rooms do.
Breakfast was very good, including about 6 trays of hot food, as well as cereals, yoghurt, ham, cheese, fruit and various breads, cakes etc normally seen in a continental breakfast. Juice was available, and jugs of coffee were on each table as well as tea bags, instant coffee and an urn of hot water on the side.
The hotel's position is excellent, just a few yards from the Old Square. In fact, it is only 1.7 km from the castle so even that is an easy walk, even for me, and I am no youngster!
We have stayed in a nearby hotel 4 times, and had no complaints. This year we changed because the other one had become expensive. The Old Prague Hotel, however, was very reasonably priced. If we return to Prague, as we hope to do, this will be our hotel of choice. Well worth a visit.

I really liked this place. It is small, friendly staff, very well located, clean, quiet. Everything I look for in a place to stay was here. My room was not big, but it was spotless and had everything I was looking for. Delicious breakfast, helpful staff. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room tip: I don’t think any of the rooms would be noisy, there is mostly pedestrian traffic in the area, few vehicles.
