“Good Hotel Experience in Prague”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

Excellent hotel location, Kryzikova metro station a minute away. Bar and Reception are blended into one place which we thought was very stylish and comfortable, newly done, so great interior design. Clean and comfortable rooms, helpful and courteous staff, they even have their own taxi service with neat presentable staff and punctual timing, not too expensive either.
Overall a great experience we felt right at home. recommend to anyone looking to stay in Prague.

Room Tip: Our room has a nice balcony with a door that opens overlooking the street, it was very nice.

Stayed here with my girlfriend on a four day vacation. The staf was friendly but overworked, since the bar and the reception is the same. It took me less time to order a drink at Hardrock Cafe on a Saturday than at the reception/bar. The room service closed at 22:15 even though it said 22:30. The complementary internet is a joke. The wifi signal was on top but the speed was 0.02 Mb/s. The TV content was nothing to brag about either.
But on the other hand the breakfast were good and the hotel and rooms were clean. The hotel is located in very quiet area of Prague. About 3 minutes walking distance to the old town.

From the moment we stepped into Pentahotel we were really impressed. The hotel's unique decor is creative without trying too hard and is complimented by VERY helpful, polite and friendly staff, whose command of English was excellent. The service was one of the aspects of this hotel that took the experience from "very good," to "excellent," as they were so refreshingly efficient and on the ball. The location is great (15 minute walk into center or you can take a tram) and the atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. We hardly wanted to leave the hotel! The food is also really high quality, we ate here several times and were particularly impressed with the fillet steak. Our room was large, wonderfully decorated and included some really quirky/cool touches such as the television welcoming you to the room and the old fashioned rotary telephone. We were also very happy with the rainfall shower and made very good use of it, but the star of the show had to be the MASSIVE bed! The duvet and mattress were so unbelievably comfortable, I haven't slept so well for a very long time. We were pleased to find that the wi-fi is free as there had been some talk of having to pay for internet. Special mention needs to be made of the breakfast buffet - everything under the sun plus free prosecco! The staff were very capable and accommodating, allowing us to charge our meals and taxi bookings to the room and we checked out without any fuss. The taxi service that the hotel ordered us from and to the airport was very well priced/professional and made our whole journey smooth and pleasant. We really cant fault the place and would definitely recommend!

Room Tip: Drink at least three glasses of prosecco at breakfast - you will have made your money back and will...

It is funky and stylish. Spotless clean and the breakfast was excellent. Distance from the centre is no problem, just start the stay by purchasing stock of single ride tickets in the Metro station 100 meters left from the hotel entrance. The tram no 8 is perfect. It is possible to buy tickets from the automat inside the Metro but also from the lady in the tobacco shop. For us it was best to buy the 30 minutes tickets, but you can buy tickets lasting up to 72 hours. It is not always easy to get tickets, so stock up. You stamp the ticket inside the tram when you enter and then you can transfer to bus or metro within the time limit you selected when you bought the ticket.

The food in their restaurant served in the evening is not at the same quality as their breakfast. We dined there twice, the pizza was not expensive but the quality was the same as from frozen one from Tesco and heated in a microwave. They clearly do not have special pizza oven.

The issue I have is their casual attitude to the passports which the guests must leave with them for 2 hours. The large bar in the middle of the lobby serves as a reception and the reception staff is also busy delivering drinks and lot of people are visiting the bar. In the meantime the passports lie in a large pile on the working area of the bar. ( We were a part of large group). No drinks were spoiled on the passports but when I asked for mine, I was handed a handful to select, I picked mine of course but I could have picked any. There was no question for the room number and no checking if the passport handed over was actually the correct one. So after 2 hours check if you can get your passport back and lock it inside the security box in your room. There is no reason for carrying it around and tax free documents received in shops can be filled out with the relevant information later. There is a scope for improvement for their handling of the passports.

The internet was ok in the lobby, but in most cases barely usable in the room ( the free internet). When coming to their internet login page you must go the the bottom of the page and click on " free internet). Trying to login from the top of the page resulted in option for payments, and the staff in the bar/reception spent a lot of their time pointing out to people to go to the bottom of the page in order to get free internet. This design of the page is costing the the hotel extra time of their staff.

Despite these thing I recommend the hotel, the bed are very good and the staff is eager and willing to serve.

Room Tip: Some people complain of noise from the street, mostly from trams, but I did not find that a problem.

The Pentahotel was booked using a voucher in the UK. For the price that we paid it was extremely good value.

Nice rooms- some with balconies, excellent choices for breakfast and reasonably priced bar drinks and meals.

It is a modern style hotel but has a really relaxed atmosphere.

Although some previous reviews said that breakfast selection wasnt great we thought that it was one of the best buffet selections we had had in a European hotel.

The hotel is approximately 15 minutes walk from the centre of Prague - just turn left from the hotel and keep walking - easy. Trams also run regularly and stop at a stop about 2 minutes from the hotel - 24 hour tickets cost around £3 - although we booked a taxi from the airport to the hotel for simplicity we used the tram/metro service to get back from the hotel to the airport which was covered in the standard £3 cost.

Tram from hotel stop to Florenc (2 stops) then B line Metro to Nove Butovice - then Bus 179 to Airport (make sure you get the 179 with the aeroplane sign) as not all 179 buses go the full way to the airport (however if you do get the wrong one like we did just alight at the end of the journey and wait for the next relevant 179 bus) - Total journey time from hotel to Airport was around 45 minutes/60 minutes.

All in all a great city break stay (3 days)

Entering the pentahotel in Prague is like going into an Abercrombie & Fitch store. Perfume hits your nose straight away.
Looking for a typical reception for check in? No - the reception is also the bar where you find (depending on the time of check in) quite competent and friendly (or less knowledgeable) staff.

Having your room key in your hand, you are passing a lounge area (really cool) a pool table (!!??) and other impressing facilities. Elevators are really small, so I would recommend the service elevator on the left hand side (for those of you having a claustrophobic tendency).

The hallway to your room is dark and long - and quite unimpressive compared to the reception and entrance area.

The rooms are stylish. If you are looking for a closet - well - NO - a stylish water tubing with hangers is the alternative. Great shower, but bathrooms are rather small.

For those of you who had a life before mobile phones.... you will have a great deja vu, while looking at the in-room telephone on the desk.

Breakfast is good, but rather busy (at around 8:00 am) as this hotel is usually used by tourists.

Will I go there again, the next time I am in Prague - yes, as this hotel is a refreshing difference to normal standard accommodation.

Funky "Millenials'" hotel that offers a lot for the money. Nothing is too much trouble for very welcoming and enthusiastic young staff. Exceptionally kicked back and relaxing ambience. Hotel was packed during our stay and service "creaked" a bit at moments of max strain. Even using tram, not as conveniently placed for key sites as others. That said, competitively-priced hotel food and drink was good and restaurants on same street also great. Query durability of some of the fabric - e.g. flimsy shower fixings - in near to medium term.
