“Classy and good location”
Reviewed 23 June 2011

Beautiful facade, lobby, breakfast area and excellent location. Rooms not large but comfortable enough and nicely appointed. Friendly staff. Well done modern update to an Art Nouveau classic building.

The hotel is located in the citycentre of prague. Its close to the trainstation and public transport. Only -5 minutes away was the Old Town Square. The entrance of the hotel is really beautiful! It had an unique art deco architecture. The main area in the hotel was modern. The breakfast was good, and late (11H) My room was nice and clean, but really small.

Staff very nice. Presentation of hotel lovely. The foyer, breakfast area and other areas on the ground floor, nice and welcoming.
Our room, not sure if in the older part (if there is one), was a little tired, carpet pretty well worn. Room was clean, we were near the lifts so a little noisy.
Breakfast great, free internet service, parking was provided for a fee, but that was ok it was nice just not to have to worry about where to park it.
Location is good, still walking distance to the main area.

Room Tip: Ask if there is a new part, if so take it.

The location is excellent, near old town and all kinds of activities. The staff was courteous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable and clean. Two disappointments, the first was that the room had a faint smokey smell (is there really any non smoking room in Eastern Europe?) and the second, larger concern, was that the new car came back from the valet parking with a huge scratch on the front bumper. Someone had driven it into a wall or into a bumper. No one owned up to their action. Their remedy was to refund parking costs, not enough to covet the insurance deductible. Yikes! Moral, park the car yourself or better yet, take the train and public transport. It tainted an otherwise nice stay.

If you love Art Nouveau, you really need to see this hotel, outside and inside. The facade is amazingly restored, and the inside might even be better. Particularly, the elevator is a glass and sculpted brass marvel that you're almost afraid to touch, it's so perfect. The breakfast room, too, is immaculately restored, with some of the most beautiful light fixtures I've seen. The room was small, but extremely comfortable and cozy, with floor to ceiling draperies and wood and granite fixtures. It was an easy walk to the train station, if you're traveling that way, and just a few blocks from the sights, including the Municipal House, the Mucha Museum, and Wenceslas Square. The Old Town is a pleasant walk through the souvenir gauntlet, just a few blocks.

I loved everything about this hotel, the best thing was probably the location - I had no problems dragging 25kgs of luggage from the train station, the old town is a short walk away, there are lots of restuarants and great shops nearby, and the area feels safe.
The service was really friendly, I didn't ask for anything difficult or unusal, but the staff made me feel like I could if I needed to.
The hotel was in a stunning art nouveau building and my room was generously sized, spotless and elegant, my only gripes (which are small, not nearly enough to stop me from giving this hotel 5/5) were that there were no art nouveau details inside the room (and I like detail in my room, where I can climb on the furniture to check it out closely!) and that the bed was very hard (that may be an Eastern Euopean thing - I noticed that, as I traveled from west to east, the beds kept getting harder!).
Breakfast was excellent - the american basics, plus lots of great (presumably local) pastries, and local champagne! - and served in the most gorgeous room. The small restuarant was nice, with the same great service as the hotel, but was very expensive for Prague (which was probably why it was always empty!). The wifi was fast enough and always worked. The car service to the airport was great, at 650CZK it's a little more than a taxi is supposed to cost, but that's a small price to pay for peace of mind - the road to the airport winds through suburbs then climbs a mountain, it doesn't look like an airport link, if I'd been there with one of Prague's notorious taxi drivers and noone knew where I was I'd be really scared!
I paid, via expedia, 155AUD/nt for mon and tue and 185 for wed (including breakfast and wifi), I didn't do much research on Prague hotels, but I think that's a great deal for such an excellent hotel in Europe.
