You simply could not find a better hostel than Hostel Elf. Fact.

We went here for New Year 2013/14. The hostel was absolutely packed and there wasn't a single free bed but everything was so organised and slick that this wasn't a problem.

Entry to the rooms is by key card, for which you can leave a €5 refundable deposit. The rooms were very well decorated (we stayed in the Zebra room) with really comfortable beds and linens changed every day. The rooms were very spacious and had a plug to each bed. Very clean and had lockers for your stuff - you need a padlock for them but you could rent them for reception for next to nothing. Hardly any road noise.

The showers were a bit odd, alternating between boiling hot or freezing cold at peek times, and same push button system you would get in most gyms, which could be a bit of a pain but not a huge problem. There were loads of bathrooms and toilets spread across the two floors, all of which were clean.

The communal area was brilliant, with 6 or so comfortable leather couches. The beer fridge was fully stocked at all times and a beer cost 30krn or 80 pence. Munchies were always available during the night courtesy of the hostel. There was a free BBQ the night we arrived also, which was a lovely treat after travelling from Poland.

Location wise the hostel is well placed, a 10 minute walk from the Old Town and most of Pragues attractions. There are tram and bus links a 5 minute walk away from the hostel and there are hundreds of taxis passing all the time - although stick to the yellow ones!

Great wifi throughout the hostel, and 3 computers on the lower level all of which worked. The hostel staff were even kind enough to let us print our bus ticket to Germany off from reception.

There was a very well equipped kitchen downstairs but I never used it so couldn't comment on it.

The garden out front was brilliant for meeting people and music was piped through the garden and communal area when people were there.

BIG thumbs up!!!

Room Tip: Go big - meet more people and have an awesome time!

My wife and I stayed here while interailling for ou honeymoon. We got a taxi from the station which took about 3/4mins.

When walking into the hostel we were met witha very friendly welcome from the staff!

It's a definatly a 'hostel' hostel! lots of comings and goings and people cooking in the kitchen. Since it was our honeymoon we just needed somewhere to stay on a budget, but wanted to be out and about enjoying the city. The cooking facilities were great and if your a saving cash you could easily sort out some decent food in the hostel, although we did't use them ourselves.

We stayed in an en suite room on the floor just below the reception area. At first I was thinking it would be noisy, but the only noise apart from in the day was a few lads stumbling back round 2am. But to be fair its a hostel and thats to be expected!!

The staff were really helpful and pointed us in the direction of town. The centre of Prague is about 10 minutes walk away and was pretty straight forward. I downloaded a map of the walk to town on my phone (think it was a trip adisor app!) which meant we had a guide just in case without incurring data charges The beer in the hostel was bottles out of a fridge but were pretty cheap!

Good vibes and a functional fun place to stay!

breakfast:

looked fine, standard, bread, meats and cereals, but very cramped space that its served in, and was filled with a bunch of young hungover people! So me and my wife decided to grab something in the city centre instead, if your there on a budget, its fine to grab something quick to refuel, but there wasnt anywhere to sit down

The room:

Big room! I was really surprised for the price, which I remeber being very reasonable! The room was basic, but clean and comfy. the bathroom was getting a bit run down but was clean with a good strong warm shower. It's not the ritz, but was pleasantly surprised! if your not precious about being bang in the town centre (it's really not far, and is actually really easy to get to from the station, we walked back to the staion along a footpath but we did't realise that till we'd got there in a taxi!) and dont mind a few people wandering past your room late, then you will love it. Simple, clean, fun. If your after more luxury them maybe look elsewhere but if your there as a traveller and up for a laugh and need somwhere basic to stay then hostel elf is the one!

We went to prague in november 2013 with a group of seven people.
We got our own room, which was quite convenient.
About the hostel: they run a good effort towards service. Doing free food and drinks on tuesday and thursday-eves, lots of maps and flyers for things to do, etc. They have some computers, excellent bathrooms (but pls, change your TP), etc.
Location is near the trainstation, but rather a good walk from the citycenter. No problem if it doesnt rain. There are qualityrestaurants and clubs nearby and they serve good cheap beers.

I really like this place. I was here over a year ago for a few days while hostel-hopping and it's one of my favorite (and #1 most memorable) places to stay in Prague. It's relatively inexpensive and in a great location (Zizkov - outside of center and loads of cool "local type" places around.)

Staff is great, it has a kitchen (a must for me,) has a good social atmosphere (I've had some very interesting social experiences here!) and has a nice cozy hostel feel.

The only complaint is that wifi can suck sometimes (especially during morning and evening when everyone is there,) and some rowdy guests have been known to shout and yell and slam doors at 4-5 AM. Not the hostel's fault, of course.

Otherwise I highly recommend this place especially if you're a solo traveler. You'll have no issues meeting people!

We stayed here for 2 nights only but it was really cool! The people are very friendly, the hostel itself is in a very central location, a 5 min walk to the main square. I would definitely recommend this place.

I will always have good memories of the Elf hostel as I met my girlfriend there. She was sleeping in the bunk above me, and well... you get the picture. Putting that aside, the hostel is nice, basic and accommodating - with friendly service and a great atmosphere. We shall be going back!
