“Worse than I expected”

The location is quite far from the city centre, but the hotel sells tram tickets. Breakfast is very basic and basically the same day after day. The building and rooms look pretty in the pictures but it's really just large decoration stickers on the walls, nothing fancy. The linen had holes and stains in them. All in all I'd say 2-3 stars. The place has potential and if you're not too fussy and are on a low budjet - this is for you. I personally wouldn't stay there again.

My girlfriend and I were staying at the Apollon hotel on December 2012, we had a travel agency that took us by bus straight to the hotel so we didn't need to get to it by ourselves, upon arrival check in was made quite fast and we got our room quickly, the staff was very nice all along and was very helpful, we were a bit disappointed to find out that our bed was not actually a double but 2 joined singles so that it was not very comfortable for a couple, but the room was clean and very nicely organized. The standard rooms only had the most basic needs but we got a very good deal on the hotel so we didn't expect much.

We arrived during a sort of a blizzard so when we woke up the next morning the roads were covered with ice, if we were in the city center we wouldn't have had much trouble because the Czech are prepared for these situations and covered the ground with anti-slip pebbles, but because the hotel is far from the center I'm guessing the city did not see fit to give priority to spread the pebbles there early in the morning, so even thou we had to walk 5 minutes to the tram my girlfriend slipped twice and almost broke her arm.

There are a few nice restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel and a supermarket, but overall the area is quite dull, the good thing about it is that it is very quiet and the tram line (number 9?) is right in front of the hotel so in 20 minutes you're at the city center.

It was a nice hotel in a poor location but with low prices so it has a good value for those who do not want to spend much.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a room with a double bed and not 2 joined singles, if possible try to go for a room...

The Apollon was my choice for a(nother) weekend in Prague, and my second time at the hotel. It's located in the district of Zizkov, approximately 20 mins from the centre with tram 9 (and N-something all through the night), which stops two minutes from the hotel. Around the hotel there are some restaurants and convenience stores, but mainly it's a rather quiet residential area.

Checking in was efficient, and the attendant spoke adequate English. A bit curious is that you're handed the TV remote in the reception when checking in.

The room was in a modern style – rather minimalistic and predominately black and white. However, both the room and bathroom give a good impression. There's plenty of storage space in a cupboard, and a comfortable bed. My room was to the street side, but was still rather quiet – even in summer you could keep the window closed as there's a/c. The door to the hallway could have been a bit more soundproof, though. In the bathroom, there was even a non-leaky shower with adequate water pressure – this should be a no-brainer, but is shockingly far between, so kudos for that.

Breakfast is a bit on the basic side, but still offers some satisfying treats, and I left it happy each day. Do note, however, that closing time means business – the lights are turned off promptly and the food removed. Remember to get yourself that extra cup of coffee in time...

In all, the Apollon is a comfortable hotel that offers very good value for money in my opinion. The modern impression of the hotel and its amenities make for a pleasant stay, and I'd be happy to return.

The Apollon Hotel in Prague is nestled in a quiet area of Prague, about 20mins tram ride into the city centre (Wenceslas Square). The tram line is located right across the road from the hotel which makes it convenient. There are also a handful of small restaurants, kebab shops and convenience stores walking distance from the hotel.

The hotel itself seems to have undergone a facelift as the rooms, reception area and dining room all look new and clean. The rooms are a good size, clean and neat and no complaints here!

Breakfast was included during my stay as part of a Topdeck trip in September 2013. There are a few hot options with breakfast which is good and I found the food to be adequate. No complaints here either.

The hotel receptionist was friendly and spoke good English and gave us directions on dropping off and picking up our laundry. A guy who runs a cleaning service charges 20 euros for up to 7kg of laundry that gets picked up, washed, folded and dropped off the next day at the hotel reception.

All in all a good stay. If you don't mind enjoying a leisurely 20min tram ride into the city from the hotel, this place is worth to stay at.

Unfortunately when I first arrived, I had to be relocated to a different hotel down the street because this hotel had water issues. I had researched this hotel and was not happy to move. I am now here at this hotel and it's a great value for clean, spacious and nice rooms. It appears to be recently updated, especially the bathrooms, and it's also right across from the tram station and near to shopping. (tram 9 is an easy shot to the center of prague). Great value for a clean and nice place. I will stay here again.

Room Tip: ask to be away from the street and on the side with the courtyard--much more quiet and peaceful

If you are fine with being 2o minutes away from the centre, this is a prefect place to stay if you have a lower budget. Tram is across the road. Recently restored you get a lot for your money. Modern, spacious, clean, comfortable and safe. I could have happily stayed a few more nights.

We booked (or should I say got booked into) this hotel as part of an all-inclusive-one-stop-shop package for the Clapton concert in Prague. As such the hotel was reasonably decent. It was very clean, the rooms modernly set, the wifi was free and working at a reasonable speed when no more than 3 people were surfing simultaneously (nah... it was not _that_ bad... 5 people ;). The price seem was also very reasonable - it was never exposed as part of the package, but it was cheap enough for us to book a room for the last day, even though we never spent the last night there (our flight out of Prague was on midnight). The staff was also very professional, helpful and extremely patient (no small feat considering the audience that this cheap hotel attracts), and helpful and actually spoke very good English. Breakfast (right...) leaves a little to be desired - its basically perhaps just a bit above what you would call "continental" - as does the rude staff. When they say breakfast is served 7-10, they do not mean that the last person will be seated at 10. They mean that 10 is the End of the B'fast World. Light are shut down, A/C is shut down, all food is taken away... no more coffee... no more nothing, and at 10:15 you're even in for a verbal scolding from the staff... and one in Czech for that matter... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
But... location... location... location...
The hotel is waaaaaaaaay off the center... One indication is that its so off, it does not even appear on the TripAdvisor City Guide app map...
Yes... there are a couple of tram lines which have stops across the street. And, yes.. these lines operate at a reasonable frequency during the day. And... yes... as advertised its really a 15' ride to the center of town. But come nighttime... say you are trying to get back to the hotel After Midnight (heh, heh...). Good luck, especially if you are NOT a sardine. I'll tell ya' - these trams come once in a blue moon, and they are so jam-packed, the scent of the sweat (especially during the hot summer days, like we had) is overcome only by the scent of the alcohol fumes... Its a terrible experience... and good luck finding a taxi, especially if you are a party of more than 4...
Not to mention the sheer pleasure of being able to get back to one's room on a whim... be it for a siesta, a change of clothes, or just to powder your nose...
All-in-all, my recommendation, despite the nice rooms, to stay away

Room Tip: Dont go there
