As reported elswhere, the two main rooms of the library are magnificent but only viewable from behind a roped area. Only being the width of a doorway, this means that you are quickly conscious of other visitors gathering behind, so in real terms only able to snatch a couple of minutes viewing. A bit harsh to charge an addtional fee to take photos in these circumstances. Adjacent Chapel was locked up and charge for toilets led to a swift departure to the Petrin Tower (for a much better tourist experience).

“Complete waste of time and money”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Not only was this difficult to find from the Observation Tower - the signage was appalling - but when you get there you pay for a ticket to see two rooms that you can't actually go into - just look in from the door where your view is quite restricted. You can't even take a photo without paying extra. The only other exhibits you can see are very strange curious, stuffed animals and one or two prayer books. If you do not have much time in Prague - I would give it a miss! They seriously need to look at the whole experience from the customer perspective. You can pay a very high price for a private tour - but you would need to be very interested in such things for it to be worthwhile.
The café outside the monastery selling the brewery beers and other drinks is OK though!

“Start from here to see the castle”
Reviewed 10 October 2013

If you are staying outside of Old Town or the Castle District, do yourself a favor and take the bus or train to the Monastery. We were staying in Vetrnik and our tour guide took us here first. We just walked passed the buildings, he told us about the beer that they make and serve only here. We did not stop and see anything but were able to walk DOWN hill from here to the castle. If you start at Charles Bridge, you will have to walk up hill to the Castle and then uphill some more to get to the Monastery.

“How to see this amazing library.”
Reviewed 14 September 2013 via mobile

So, there are 2 options for seeing this gorgeous library. Option one as most reviewers point out is the regular admission which allows you to view the two halls from the corridor.
We booked a private tour by emailing the library well in advance. Phoning is less effective given the language issues. The private guided tour allows you into the halls and covers the history and significance of the books and furniture. You do not get to look at the valuable books.
The cost is high almost $150 Canadian for 4 people. It will be higher if you have less people. To put this in context, all admission fees in Prague are expensive. Concert costs would be even more.
Both are worthwhile depending on your budget and interest.
